So there was some recent discussion of gender identities and sexual orientation on another thread. I was interested in continuing the conversation There seems to quite a diverse group in this guild and I've never really had anyone to discuss such things with and the lifestyle threads on such topics are a bit difficult to follow.
So basically, how do such things apply to you and what effect, if any, does it have on you in your path, and in your life in general.

I am female gender-wise and sex-wise. I identify generally as "straight" but that's not really accurate. I'm definitely somewhere between "straight" and "bisexual" on the Kinsey scale.
I like the idea of polyamory, but I've never been in a situation involving it so I don't know how I'd really react emotionally. I do know that having a house-full of men sounds like a good plan to me.

I'm definitely somewhere between "straight" and "bisexual" on the Kinsey scale. As in "Heteroflexable"? I'm sexed female, third gendered, bisexual (mostly for lack of romantic experience with other genders) and polyamourous. I don't know if it will effect me if I am initiated into Wicca. In Vodou, there are patron Loa of lesbians and gays, the Baron is known to cross dress and there are lots of similar stuff that gets lost in the shuffle of Hollywood Voodoo. rolleyes

I was born a male, but had an SRS surgery, and am now female. I classify myself as being straight, but I sometimes wonder what things are like on the other side, and therefore have had a few brief forays into lesbianism. Still unsure if perhaps I am lesbian, or even bisexual. I'm not 100% up to date on what all of the different terms are for it.
I have no idea how it would affect the path I'm on, considering myself, and several of my friends, are all different sexual orientations.

I'm a woman both gender and sex. I'm bisexual, or whatever you want to call it. I'm attracted to people, not their plumbing so I'm rather more open on the subject than just bi. I've always been okay with the idea of polyamory, and had polyamorous friends but never really thought about it much until I found myself in relationships with two different people at the same time.
I've got more to talk about bt not time to type it now. Be back on later.

Sanguina Cruenta I've heard "pansexual" used for this viewpoint. Pansexual is the term I use, myself. I'm female-sexed, but tend to feel somewhat genderless. I'm not hugely fond of gender as a social construct. I tend towards pansexuality, in that I love people for who they are, and don't tend to care about what bits are attached. I'm married (well, handfast, really). I am also poly, but I only have my relationship with my husband right now.

I have seen some beautiful Poly Handfastings. I guess that is one way in which this stuff effects my spirituality- celebrations I do honor lots of different relationships- and not just Male-Female Couples.

Pansexual. That makes sense. I knew there was a term for it. Morgandria Sanguina Cruenta I've heard "pansexual" used for this viewpoint. I'm female-sexed, but tend to feel somewhat genderless. I'm not hugely fond of gender as a social construct. This was some of the other stuff I wanted to talk about. I just couldn't think of how to word it and didn't have the time to work it out. See, I identify as female just because that's how I think of myself. However, I've always been a tomboy I tend to think that when certain behaviors or traits are considered masculine or feminine it's just a false social construct.

Our coven has done same-sex handfasting as well as hetero versions...it isn't a stretch for me to imagine Poly handfastings. I know I wouldn't personally have an issue performing one. smile

See, I identify as female just because that's how I think of myself. However, I've always been a tomboy I tend to think that when certain behaviors or traits are considered masculine or feminine it's just a false social construct. I agree in a sense. I mean I am female, I feel female, I am glad and in a sense proud to be female, definitely a feminist also. But I would have a hard time defining what "female" is. I don't think you are in any way limited to what jobs or hobbies or roles you can play by your gender. I don't like that kids' clothing is always colour-coded. (I told my cousins when they had their girls not to enforce gender roles. But they had everything in pink anyway. I suppose it's hard to find stuff that isn't pink or blue.) Along these lines.... it annoys me that women can be astronauts and loggers or whatever and that's great but men get funny looks if they want to be a nanny or whatever. ALSO. When I was a kid I wanted transformers and matchbox cars and no one got me any! (I also liked my barbies.) Gender's definitely a social construct in the sense of the dichotomy and such but it's not completely a learned thing on an individual level. There's totally some nature in there too, as evidenced by that POOR kid Stephen someone whose p***s was burned off in a botched circumcision and they raised him as a girl and he felt wrong his entire life until he was 12 and his dad told him what had happened and he was all "WELL THAT EXPLAINS IT THEN" and lived the rest of his life as a man. And this utter wanker psychologist abused him and his brother by turning him into his experiment. What was his naaaame. Here we go! Dr. Money. Just as an aside, I had no idea this website existed and I am now in love. Horizon does awesome docos, too. They did an awesome one on the supervolcano in Yellowstone, and they do some that are just so hilarious and intentionally over the top. There's one on the first tetrapod or something. Crack-up. ANYWAY. Yes. Studies on gender are ongoing. There's not a great deal in the way of solid conclusions as yet.

I am a born female, though there is a certain time of the month I really wish I was male (I think you know what I'm getting at...). Anyway, over the years I've been calling myself bisexual, though truthfully I think it was mainly because I felt so lonely I would've accepted either gender as a partner. My boyfriend is a wonderful person, and I am so grateful to have him. Though having said that, there is still a certain girl that I do kinda feel something for, though not to the extent that I feel for my boyfriend. However, I don't want to have sexual relations with anyone until I am married/handfasted (though that's not going to be for quite a while).

I'm female in gender and sex. It is hard to define what makes one a female or male though, but seeing as I've never felt I'm in the 'wrong' body, I'll assume I'm an all around blaugh
I consider myself pansexual. I don't like the term bisexual, because it's beyond that. I don't care if you're male, female, both, neither... It's not all about outward appearance, and even then, I'm not physically attracted to one gender more than another.
