Nori had spent months training, ever since Sauda left something was burning straight through him. Anger? Hatred? That had always been there. Something felt missing. Aloof and unsettling. Now, clawing, biting and throwing yourself at trees like they were live dummies only felt like a distraction. His full concentration was off. After another tackle, splintering the bark off what was like the millionth tree, he let his hooves take to the ground and then shook his coat of wood, giving a low growl. Eying the tree with detest as if it was his natural sworn enemy.

His bright, accusing eyes faded in to dull, routine filled ones as he turned searching for a dark looming shadow, which wasn't hard to find in the forest as he took shelter under it, letting his tail slip by every elephant wrinkled tree-trunk and off-handed branch a long the way as it clawed at his coat. He missed his pack brother, it wasn't hard to guess that. They had grown up side by side and to be pried away from each other for so long was making him bitter. Jealous of the imps. Usually, he wouldn't give a damn, to hell with the rest of the world but now he was starting to understand the meaning of pain and no physical act of violence could add up to this.

Now he knew why his mother took the devious, manipulative route instead of the one he had posed a challenge to. He needed something live to set off that spark again, the one that made him strong. Not pathetic like a weak cub. Something that drew blood. After Sauda... That need to kill and attack anything remotely of his size had left his grasp. A challenge... That was it! That would be all it took to set his mind straight again.

Demon was.... missing something. Someone had dared to take something that was his, ever since Lana'thel had captured him (twice!) he had been even more possessive of what he considered to be his.... still, when he had been out training someone had dared to take the kill he had left in his cave for once he had finished.

Hungry, grumpy and ready to attack the first thing to cross his path he had followed the trail of blood down from the mountain and into the forest. Then the path had become harder to follow. Too many creatures, too many scents.... and of course his hunger was not helping, if anything it was dulling his sences. He was torn between the two things he wanted.... to eat.... or to hunt down the culprit and teach him a lesson he wouldn't forget, even in death.

He growled, the noise deep and rumbly.

Demon walked for what felt like forever until a rabbit caught his attention, he had always liked rabbit, it was just chewy enough to enjoy, usually very bloody and the small creatures usually put up a fight in terms of catching them. He began to stalk it... it ran... he followed.

Nori's ears took to the rustles of the bushes near by. Faint scampering of a creature, he could sense it's fear but other than his pack, what else had anything to be afraid of? It made him curious. He stayed in his little blanket of shadow until the rabbit came a long the clear path. He jumped out, striking his hoof down to press it to the terrain, letting his eyes turn to the one chasing it. Someone was hunting in their territory? This was a first in a long time; more like, a long time since he had to deal with trespassers, rather than his mother taking care of it whilst he was training.

Something about the male felt familiar but he couldn't put a pin point on how he was. He smirked, now having a reason to fight. The fact food was already scarce and even though, usually the pack never bothered with animals that small, it was still considered hunting. As it lay lifeless under his hoof, he watched the blood leak out.

"Looks like your snack isn't going anywhere."
His eyes flicked back to the kalona which looked like he could bend the shadows at will, just as they welded to it's feet and the color became like a camouflage. Not something many could pull off in the forest. "If you want it. Come and get it..." He growled, a low hum leaving his throat.

Demon broke through the tree line only to see the crushed remains of the rabbit he had been chasing under the hoof of what appeared to be half horse and half wolf.... a mutant? He growled low, he hated mutants. Memories of Lana'thel and her treatment of him as a foal flooded back and his anger built up a new.

Now he had more reasons to fight... and more importantly a willing victum for it. No dinner, no snack.... and no culprit. But the creature before him would do. Yes, he would do.

Hunger was consuming part of Demons mind, making it hard to think or concentrate. All he knew was.... he wanted to work his anger out on the one before him, and then he would take the rabbit as payment for his time and because someone in this area had dared to steal his kill. Demon did not share what was HIS!

"Very well," he grumbled before lunging full speed towards the stallion.

Attack Roll
1- Demon moves towards to Nori, but in his haste revealed too much of his plan making his attack easy to dodge.
2- Demon's rage and speed make his attack near impossible to ignore as he slams in hard, headbutting Nori simply on instinct.
3- Demon stops just short of Nori and instead decides to circle him for a moment, taking in all the details.
4- Demon roared forward and kicked out at Nori, getting a solid hit to his side.

Although the rabbit was no concern to Nori what so ever, the two of them had a similar need to attack each other, whether because he had forced that feeling upon the Kalona before him was not of his interest. To him it was shameful to go after a creature that big when of course he could of hunted something much more of a fill. When the attack threw him off guard, a louder growl came from his throat from the sharp pain. He snapped out at the creature, saliva running through his long fangs as they clamped together much like a wolf and entered the air, few sprays landing on the skin of the shadow bender.

He jumped backwards, lowering himself in to a prowl a stance he had picked up from his mother. Although his siblings were weak, he wasn't one to take a hit so lightly, or cower or back down. It just made him more determined to make a kill. This challenge was exactly what he had needed, something to thrive off of. The attack, which had left a cut and his side throbbing made him cackle evilly. The scent of his own blood. No one ever came that close. This was a worthy one indeed. He jumped forward -

Rolling~
1. He purposely slides past Demon, bouncing sharply off the ground to run around him in a fast circle, as if to confuse him.
2. places his hooves forward in the leap as it hits the Kalona's side, pushing him to the ground.
3. Aims to bite in to the kalona's neck, but snaps his jaws shut too soon from the pain in his side, missing him.
4. Sinks teeth in to Demon's shoulder, keeping his fangs locked.

Demon had been about to move to strike again when his opponant moved to take a bite out of him. The pain to his side seemed to be bothering him... Demon made a note of that, he would use itto his advantage if he could. That had been one of the reasons he was still alive, battle scars told the tale of his life... ever a contest, the strongest surviving.

Demon bounced out of the way, using his wings in a sudden flapping motion to force air away from him so that he moved away with speed- just one of the many tricks Demon had picked up. Before he attacked he asked, his voice a menacing growl, "Tell me your name.... so that I can send your dead body home to your family." Demon had been fed up of nameless fights for a while, each seemed to blurr into one another.... and already the speed of his opponant reminded Demon of his own. Part of him knew... this was likely to be an interesting fight.

He grinned, though it looked more like a snarl due to elongated fangs. His eyes flicked towards his stolen kill and his anger bubbled again. He jumped forward, wings spread wide.

Attack roll:
1- Demon moves towards Nori at a high speed, but his movements made his direct intent obvious and easy to dodge.
2- Demon jumps towards Nori, closing his wings at the last moment to force him to stop suddenly as he slams into his opponant.
3- Demon aims to bite Nori's rump, but undercompensates and finds himself snapping just short of his target. He moves his spade tail from side to side like a cat out of frustration.
4- Demon sinks his teeth into Nori's rump and keeps them locked.

Nori snarled as the kalona moved out of his way, damning his side for it's throbbing. His eyes were blind with rage, a lot of fire and anger burning up inside him, it only furthered when his attackers large fangs pierced his rump, he saw the blood splatter and the hold remained like a vice on his skin. His own fangs shone wildly in the darkness, his bright yellow eyes tossed back to him as he dare even think that he would be capable of killing 'him' and tossing him a side to his mother. He was stronger than his mother, he had to be and to be put in front of her would probably make her laugh, to of even shown that weakness.

He threw his body to the ground in an instant, rolling to unlatch the fangs of the beast as he got to his feet once more, dangerously eying the other who was filled with anger of their own. He hadn't landed one hit yet, it was getting frustrating, he was now ignoring his wound and targeting the pitiful thing before him.

"The names, Nori, don't you forget it." He barked. "Because when I'm through with you, your shredded remains will be dinner to my pack and nothing more."

Rolling~
1. moves forward in his prowl, leaping over the kalona, ending up behind him.
2. Snaps at Demon's leg, gripping it in his fangs as he forces him off balance.
3. Goes to slam in him but his intentions are easy enough calculated to dodge out the way.
4. Headbutts Demon in the chest hard.

Demon hissed as he was forced into the roll before he finally let go. His wing ached from the impact, they were probably the most sensative part of his body... and from the tears upon them it was obvious they had taken a beaten over time. He spread them wide and stood to his four hooves once more. A growl and a snap of his jaw showed how angry he was.....

...and the reason he didn't flinch, didn't move... was because he was ready. He would take the strike. Absorb it. Feel it to his core. And once he was done doing that? He would strike back with lethal intent.

A growl rumbled within him as Nori snapped at his legs before getting a grip. It was enough to force his front legs to collapse under him. He grunted and let nature take its cause. With a wince he felt the blood mix with dirt and mud. He embraced it, even when the scent of his own blood reached him -he had always hated the smell of it. His anger was mounting along side his determination. He just needed to keep a clear enough mind that he could still think.... yeah.... think.

Attack roll:
1- Goes to pull himself up but fails.
2- Demon manages to pull himself up, using his wings to add extra speed before ramming Nori.
3- Turns his rump in an effort to use his spade tail to knock Nori over but pisses.
4- Demon manages to swing his tail and knock Nori off balance as he regains his own.

Nori watched as his victim collapsed, backing up as his eyes flashed with a satisfaction no one could of really understood. After taking a few hits from this thing already, he finally felt like he was getting somewhere, his instincts getting the better of him as his rage continued to boil. At the growl, he let out his own growl wondering what cunning attack the other had planned for him next. He wasn't reacting as Nori would expect, he wasn't prey, he was a predator like himself. In some way, he could sense they were a like and in others, he sensed a lot of history behind Demon. One that made Nori's tendencies feel so little/insignificant inside.

He would never let that on... He had to prove he was worthy to lead this pack, when Evan was ready, when he was ready and all the challenges that were tossed his way, or he threw himself in to a long the way. He had to win. He had to do his pack proud. Maybe he was more obsessed with it than anyone else was but he knew he had done more for their pride than anyone ever could have.

His ears lowered as he shook his head, his fur flared around him and next, a smack in to him caused him to roll across the ground. A crack, a yelp and then he was on his front again looking down at his hooves. He felt dizzy before forcing himself to come around and forcing himself to stand again as more pain ceased his body. His back leg was bleeding heavily. He huffed, staring at him. "Your name? You know mine, might as well name tag our dinner."

Rolling~
1. Runs at the kalona, trying to get used to the new found limp, the attack is easily dodged.
2. Moves himself side ways, his rump whacking against Demon's side.
3. Crouches, slowly moving around him however his tail flicks against him, just brushing Demons skin. (No damage/miss)
4. In a rage over his new found pain, leaps at demon, throwing his hooves down in to Demo's chest, leaving an open wound.

Demon smiled, though it still looked more like a snarl due to his teeth, as he landed another hit. This fight was doing a lot for his rage... his memories over his lost kill were all but forgotten, and although the carcass of the rabbit still lay limp on the ground that too was out of mind and sight. All that mattered in this moment was him and his opponant. Nori.

In a way Demon had already assessed his 'prey' as worthy, not once had he given up, not once had he cowered after taking a hit. Simply gave as good as he got. The kalona beast within him purred in satisfaction. It had been a long time since he had faced an opponant with such lethal intent.... it was a relief that there were creatures out there just as twistes as he was, despite his obvious lack of Kalona blood.

Demon took a deep breath, the lingering smell of fresh blood wiped away the memory of his own. "Demon," he purred, a habit of his mothers, "And I will ensure it is carved in your rump for all of eternity." He said with another snarl before going in for another attack.

Attack roll:
1- Lunges in for a strike but misses, skids slightly before turning to face Nori once more. Growling low and slamming a hoof full force into the ground.
2- Lunges towards Nori, managing to headbutt him. His horns making contact and getting covered in blood.
3- Sweeps his wings on the ground before flicking them up in an effort to carry dust and dirt into the air and at Nori... but it doesn't do anything.
4- Sweeps his wings on the ground before flicking them up in an effort to carry dust and dirt into the air and at Nori... Demon manages to spray a storm of dirt at his opponant before he charges.

[[OOC: 'He' = Demon in the last part. Demon charges Nori XD not the other way around. Just read it again and realised it could be open to questions]]

Both of them were splashed with each others blood, the scent of it was in Nori's nostrils, leading him on to keep attacking, even if they both were to keel over from blood loss, he saw neither of them stopping. Neither giving up. Just keep coming at each other with everything they had. Worthy, more so than any he had come across before. A smirk collected on his maw, not through ego, but through amusement. They were both skilled, in their own rogue tactics. No rounded perfection, just through pure events, scraps and fending for yourself. The right way of learning. He could see himself respecting "Demon" a word fitting for him.

His eyes were drawn to Demon's glowing white eyes, he saw the sweep of his wings and took to moving out the way however because of his limp and wounded back leg the dirt and the terrain easily found it's way to his eyes, momentarily blinding him as he gave a grunt of distaste. It only caused him to thrash around more, in an attempt to strike his foe whilst he blinked out the gust of crap. He lowered his head, sneezing and rubbing his eyes against his front knee. He was knocked aside, more pain throbbing at his ribs but he held his ground, digging his hooves into the dirt. His vision was blurred, but he could smell Demon's scent. He was still close, he went for his chance.

Rolling~
1. Rears throwing his hooves down at Demon but misses, not being able to calculate which double-vision was the real one.
2. Rears, striking demon in the chest with one of his hooves.
3. Leaps, pouncing thin air, his double ( Blurred ) vision failing his other senses.
4. Throws his head up, in a snap of sharp fangs, ripping a wound in Demon's chest.

Demon bellowed in agony as he instinctively kicked out to push the beast off him. The scent of his blood filled his sences and for a moment he felt a wave of dizziness. He growled, a combination of anger and pain, it was a sound that rumbled around them, echoed in the trees in a similar manner to how a cornered injured animal sounds before striking with the last of their strength. Demon knew that such creatures were at their most deadliest then.... nothing left to lose, and everything to gain.

His eyes flickered to the wound on his chest. It throbbed in pain, the flesh tender and a steady flow of blood dripping to the ground before forming a river of blood away from him. He growled again, his lips twitching into a snarl as his eyes narrowed as well.

Demon's target was insight. Nori. They were both panting, it was obvious that they had both been putting all their energy into this fight, using it as an excuse to vent off anger. Demon was almost curious about what Nori's motivation was, he welcomed the fight, welcomed the wounds, welcomed the blood just as Demon did.... just as Demon expected any true killer to. He could almost respect Nori for that, though one thing was clear.... Nori was worthy. Not once did he moan or feel sorry for himself, he simply limped back to his hooves for another attack. Demon's muscles ached, he could feel bruises under the skin were he had been struck, and a multitude of small wounds and cuts slicing his body..... but the pain in his chest would not be ignored. It was deep and raw, just like his emotions were.

A storm of anger and pain mixed together as Demon considered his next move.

Attack roll:
1- Demon went to move, but as he did the pain in his chest erupted through his body. Not expecting that to happen he yeld out pain and had to blink back the blurred vision induced by the pain.
2- Lunges forward and slams into Nori's weak side (the one Demon had attacked at the start of the fight) before bringing his knee up to slam it into his underside.
3- Lunges in for a strike but misses due to the pain in his chest distracting him, skids slightly before turning to face Nori once more. Growling low and slamming a hoof full force into the ground.
4- In a rage over his new found pain, leaps at Nori, slamming his hooves down on either side or Nori's head. His nose touching Nori's for a moment as he huffs out hot air.

Nori felt satisfied as he managed to rip the gaping wound in to Demon's chest, backing away to regain distance between them so he couldn't be countered. The wound would be dealing the stallion a lot of pain, thankfully he had been blessed with sharp teeth and even he would of had a hard time carrying on going with a chunk torn out of him. Nostrils flaring, the hot steamy breath was low and ragged and made it clear that he was growing weary in the fight, his opponent seemed to be reaching his limit too, as he made a move then stopped, distracted by the throbbing pain and blood rushing from his body, freely, smoothly. He could smell the salty substance from a mile away.

It would draw others and he didn't feel like having his mother prowling around to watch him fight. He snarled, but didn't move his gaze to peer around, he continued to stare with piercing eyes in to demon's own, guaranteed that neither would stop unless some mutal agreement formed but something told Nori they had too much pride to do something as such.

Even he was growing tired, stood, head lowered, crouched, fangs gleaming in the dim light, even at a limp his hooves were dug deep in to the soil keeping grip, tail lowered. He naturally fell in to a hunting stance. To many it was a sign of scavenging, just being a predator by nature but what they didn't understand was that, from down there you had a lot more momentum to gain and you could see everything. All actions became easier to detect and less straining to follow if like Demon, they were both skilled in action and good with some amount of strategy.

Nori decided to make a different approach. A baffling decision as he pulled from his position and stood up straight as he could with the limp.

This time he wouldn't be attacking; he simply stood there staring, calculating him.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 14, 2011 1:32 am
Demon huffed and panted in pain, his breath was coming up in shorter and shorter breaths due to his injury; yet it still wasn't enough to stop Demon from fighting. If he should fall this day at least he did it in battle with a worthy enough opponant; it was clear they were both like minded. Strong, relentless, unmerciful... and stubborn. He doubt his opponant would back down any more than he would. Interesting. Demon allowed a low growl to escape his lips, doing his best to take out the slight pained egde from wound that continued to flow blood as swiftly as a river made it's way to the Ocean.

Still, Demon was willing to admit that his opponants actions surprised him. Baffled Demon simply watched in amazement as the stallion first lowered himself into a defendable position and then stood once more. He growled. Surely this was a trick? Demon was a master of not playing fair and could see the tactical advantage to be gained by confusing your opponant.... still he found himself curious. He barked; "What is the meaning of this?" Another growl left his lips, the flesh peeling off his teeth to form a snarl.

He stomped his feet in the ground in frustration, sending a layer of dust dancing around him. It was an action that Demon regretted moments later, the dirt stung as it landed on his wound causing him to wince slightly.

Nori continued to stare at Demon, never gaze altering until he closed his eyes and then slowly opened them again. "Your wound. My wound. Were fairly evenly matched." He regarded his opinion for the moment. "If we continued to fight, then we would both fight to the death. I'm sure of it. That would result in the loss of two great fighters in the world." He paused, limping forward, considering his next words carefully. He didn't want this to sound like a surrender, when it sure as hell wasn't but he was keen to fight him again later, at a time where both of their power and skills advanced a great deal. Then they might not be so even and can at least produce a winner.

"I'm interested in fighting you again. Dare I say."
He smirked. "So how about it? We go our seperate ways, train and one day one of us might come out the winner." He laughed deeply through the puffs of raspy breath. "Consider it a rivalry." He waited, once more on just staring on for an answer, both of them had put up quite a show, with costly results. At this rate they would bleed out if they didn't get treated. Not like Nori cared, nor feared death. He had gone beyond that, he just found the passion in this sick sport once more.

A shame it would be to waste it.
