 Hipelagan dropped out of the sky nearby a stream. She'd been flying for quite some time and was very thirsty. It seemed best to rest her wings and refill her tank. The mare spunked her way to the water's edge. Her wings tucked up against her sides as she lowered her head to drink. She moved slowly deeper in as she drank, always wanting that fresh clear water. Her short red and white tail frisked back and forth.

Leilani had been enjoying the morning amid the few remaining flowers as the weather turned chill. Drinking in the scent of a beautiful, pink chrysanthemum, she hadn't been watching the sky.
As the whoosh of wings and thump of hooves landing interrupt the soft calls of nesting birds, Leilani looks up. What a beautiful Wind!
It almost looked as though the mare had stylized roses painted on her coat. And she had wings, real wings, and could really fly. Leilani watched as the mare drank from the stream, wishing she had wings. It didn't occur to the uni that she was staring.

With her thirst sated, the mare lifted her head to look around for something to explore or do. Water dribbled from her chin as she caught sight of another mare with a horn and stylized wings on her sides. What pretty wing patterns! She thought.
She trotted excitedly over, "Hello!" Hipelagan was happy that she had someone here to talk to and play with. That would make time pass more quickly.
"My name's Hipelagan. What's yours?"

Slightly surprised at the other mare's boldness, "Oh, hello. I'm Leilani, pleased to meet you." A droplet of water still on Hipelagan chin distracted Leilani for a moment. Then it dropped off and into the grass.
Leilani smiled, "Flying must be thirsty work, wind and all. But it looks so free. You must love it." Way to be subtle. But then, Leilani hadn't ever been known for her subtlety.

"It's nice to meet you too! I'm glad you're here. Now I wont be alone and we can do something together." Hipelagan blinked. "You don't mind do you?" It would be horrible if the other mare didn't want to do something with her.
She nodded and gave her wings an unconscious flick. "Oh it is. And every time I want a drink I have to come down. I've tried to fly through the clouds but it doesn't work very well." Hipel smiled, "yeah. I love it. So what are you doing here?"

Leilani missed the first question in hearing that Hipelagan flew through clouds, "Really, you can fly that high! That's so amazing, are they really soft and fluffy like they look?"
Then she remembered the rest of the other mare's words and tilted her head sideways. "What kind of something? Cause I mind some things, but not other things. I wasn't doing much anyway, just smelling the last of the flowers."

Hipelagan giggled. "Yes I can. Well I guess so. I don't get hurt when I fly through them, though I do get damp." She snorted playfully. "I don't like it when I get water up my nose."
The black mare pondered. "Weeeellll..... I donno. We could play games or explore or smell the flowers." She was anxious to find something they both could agree on.

Leilani smiled, large and happy, "Oh, well I like doing those things, they sound fun!" Then she stood there, waiting for Hipelagan to tell her what they were going to do. Leilani wasn't the brightest Uni in the field, and she was the only Uni in the field.

She swished her tail. Her new friend wasn't being very specific on what she wanted to do. Clearly she had to make a choice; Hipelagan hoped it would be the right one.
"Ummmm alright. That's good I guess." Leilani said she'd already smelled the last of the flowers, so she needed to find something different. "How about we walk up and down this stream and look for pretties?

"Oh, yes. That sounds like fun! Leilani was thrilled to have something to do with so lovely a mare who had such amazing wings.
With the energy of a young foal, she pranced to the stream. Smiling back at her friend, "Should we go right or left?"

Hipel neighed happily. She'd picked something good! Bounding over to the other mare, she scanned left and then right. Another touch choice. A sparkle caught her eye.
"We go left! There's a sparkly over there. See it?" She pointed with her nose.

Leilani followed her new friend and was quick to her side as the other stumbled. "Are you okay?" As the cheerful mare discovered the shiny had been lost, "It's okay, we can find another!" and with that she began looking along the banks for something shiny to make the other mare smile.

Hipel pranced forward quickly. Her friend seemed eager to get started. She tried to keep her eye on the sparkle as she went forward, while at the same time keeping an eye on where her feet went. Unfortunately it didn't work and Hipel found herself tripping on some uneaven ground.
"Shoot!" She looked around. In her tripping she'd lost sight of the sparkle.

Leilani noticed her friends troubles and came to her side. "Here, lean on me and I'll watch our feet and you can watch the sparkle."
