Today had to be special. Nothing had gone wrong for the rather unfortunate lioness....yet. Happily humming a tune, she padded herself over to the watering hole for a drink. She was parched, and her long pink tongue was extended, ready to drink. She stuck her head down, not even bothering to look, when something startled her from behind.

In a mad panic, she sprang into the water as a thousand birds took off into the sky. She fumbled around, splashing and sloshing until she managed to trip over her own paws, causing her to fall flat on her backside.

With a sigh, Fidda glanced around, wet and embarassed, glad to see no one was around... but when she stood up....she discovered something most unpleasant. A rotten waterlogged...log was now stuck tight to her rear like a tick on a rat. "Oh heavens have mercy!" she cried and flailed and kicked and bounded out of the water, doing anything to try and remove the stump from her butt. It was a most ungraceful scene.

User ImageCompletely and hopelessly lost. That lion Moso, though kind and courteous, was completely unhelpful when it came to his journey of being reunited with Clermeilli-Pie. All he received was a fine tour of the rogue lands... minus the jungle parts of it. Maybe this was the way it was meant to be... maybe he should just give up? The memory of the blue lioness's face faded with every day that passed. She was almost an invisible memory, now. The heartache faded as well, but that didn't make it right. Daire sighed, letting his rump sink into the dirt as he looked out to the arid Savannah. The dry, yellow Clermeilli-Pieless Savannah.

Daire shook his head. It couldn't be healthy to think about her constantly. Time to distract - what is that? Daire's blue eyes narrowed at the sky a countless noisy birds took to flight. Something must have startled them... Daire hardly cared what sort of harmless thing could have frightened the birds, but it was the perfect distraction for now.

The lion padded towards the sight briskly, alert eyes and ears searching for the cause of fear. It could have been just a rowdy fish, making a splash to resemble a crocodile... bur what is that? Daire squinted to view a pale lioness in quite an awkward situation. Her rump appeared to be trapped in a log! That couldn't have been purposeful, could it? With a genuine concerned expression, Daire galloped towards the lioness in distress.

"Pardon me, fair maiden!" Daire said with a swift bow of his head. "You appear to be stuck in a log, do you need assistance?" It was a pointless question, but it was always polite to state your business before intruding on a female. Daire peered at the log carefully, trying to decipher the best way to rid her of the unwanted thing.

With another scare, as she was not expecting someone since she thought she was alone, Fidda glanced side long at Daire, stopping her fiddling just long enough to properly register what he was saying. Oh, he was offering help! "Oh my..oh..why yes, please if you wouldn't mind Sir...." she said in embarassment.

Her soggy head hung low, dripping with water as she glanced nervously at her paws. "You see, I was but to get a drink....when I was startled....I tripped into the water..." she tried to explain in half laughs, half embarassed gasps. "And...well this....this happened.....if....ifyoucouldhelpmeplease." she sort of sobbed the last part of it in a whisper. Her paws kneeded the ground anxiously.

Such a handsome lion, so polite too. Here he had to see her like this, a mess. No doubt he was already taken. Oh if only she had some sort of knight with her always to keep her from harm. But wishing did her no good now. She was still....quite stuck. And her butt was beginning to get a bit numb...if that was even possible. Not to mention the constant wiggling of her tail had managed to shoot the fluffy pink tail tip out another hole of the log and forced it to bend upwards. This had to be extremely unnatural.

Daire smiled at the feline in a weak attempt to comfort her. "Don't worry, m'lady. We'll have this thing off of you in no time." It's what he said, but he could only hope it was true.

Daire crouched, letting his dark mane sweep against the moist earth as he examined the under side of the log. He was searching for a weak point, a crack, or a spot where the wood was just a bit thinner than everywhere else. The hunt was not in vain, Daire let out a quiet "Aha!" when he found exactly what he was looking for. A deep crevice along the underside, making the entire structure vulnerable to being split completely in two.

Daire paused, staring at the crack. How would he go about splitting the log in two without harming or frightening the maiden? This task was going to be a lot more complex than he first envisioned. He couldn't just yank on it and ruin the lioness's shimmering silver fur! Not to mention cause some painful rashes in the process!

"If you don't mind me asking, ma'am." Daire said in a gentle voice while still testing the log's weak spot. "What's your name? Mine is Daire."

Fidda was trying desperately to see over her shoulder what he was looking at. She felt awkward, having a male so close to her rear end like this. It was a bit....uncomfortable, and she was tempted to just spring away and tell him never mind but thanks for the thought. But she couldn't do that, she had no clue how she got stuck in the log int he first place, let alone a way to get it off. With a sigh, she simply waited and shuffled her paws into the ground.

And then he spoke again. His voice was so calming, it was quite strange. "Oh..my name is Fidda'Kodici, but you can call me just Fidda." she said with a slight blush. "Thank you so much for this Daire.... your terribly kind." she said with a slight gulp. She had to admit, making conversation was helping....even if just a little. "So...If you don't mind me asking....where were you headed this eve?" she timidly questioned, hoping that wasn't too out of bounds.

"Fidda'Kodici? That's a gorgeous name. Almost as gorgeous as yourself." Daire glanced at her with a grin, quickly returning his attention to the log attached to her rear. His ears pinned in her direction, listening to the lady intently as he worked his paws along the crack of the wood. The lion pressed gently against it, instantly coming to a stop of Fidda made the slightest sign of discomfort. Gradually, the pressure got heavier and stronger... straining the wet wood with his weight and strength. The weakening log groaned, causing Daire's grin to spread further over his face. Almost there...

"I'm trying to find my way home, but it appears I'm a little lost..." Daire explained, juggling the thoughts of each of his homes as he spoke. Which one was he talking about? Not even the speaker was certain... Daire breifly thought of asking the female about herself. But the thought vanished as fast as it came. Not only does he not wish to intrude, but there was no doubt she'd get embarrassed if she tried to explain how she got in this situation.

Daire felt a crackle of wood under his paws. "You're almost out." He said, leaning in to get a closer look at his progress.

Craning her head around, she tried ever so hard to glance at what he was doing. It was still so odd to have him so close to her rear like that....but she guessed it couldn't be helped now. She tried hard to focus on the conversation and not how pitiful she was to end up in a situation like this.

"Home huh.... sure wish I had one." she sort of mumbled to herself. She didn't really have a home per say....not to mention she was by herself. If there was one thing she could boast about, it was that she was the luckiest of her family....if anyone could believe that. Everyone else had perished due to their rather mis fortunate coincidences.

Oh great and now that was stuck in her head too! Oh poor Pa, drowning in the watering hole because he got his head stuck in some under water plants. Dear dear Ma, lost in a cave...never came out. Grandmama squished beneath the very tree she had been sharpening her claws on. Grandpapa breaking his ankle by tripping over a pot hole....and further more tumbling off the edge of a cliff. All these thoughts began to swirl about in her mind until she burst out screaming full on, tears blasting from her eyes.

"I DON'T WANT TO DDDDIIIEEEE!!!!!"

Oblivious that he was awkwardly close to the female's rump, Daire frowned as Fidda implied she didn't have a home. But he was much too absorbed in his work to come up with a descent response. He hrmed to himself as he examined the crack he created in the wood. Just one more powerful shove and the thing would split into two. Or, he hoped. In the worst case scenario, he'd only manage to get his paws painfully stuck in the wood's grasp. And then who would help them?

Using his claws to aide him, Daire placed his red paws on the soggy log precisely. The lion lifted himself, preparing to slam his entire upper body into the weakened crevice. It was then he heard the scream, but he was already in mid-slam. It was too late to stop himself. CRACK. The weight and power of the lion shattered the wooden shell. Daire struggled to get his paws out of the wreckage in a haste, failing to escape without a few cuts.

"Are you alright, M'lady!?" Daire said, in a panic, fearful that he might have hurt her. He quickly discarded the pieces of wood from her rear, much simpler now that it was in several pieces instead of one. After he felt the task was complete, he inspected her rump for wounds... When he concluded there were none worth noting, he noticed that... he was staring at her rump.

How disrespectful! The lion stumbled back with a look of utter distraught plastered across his face. "I'm so sorry..." He muttered, almost overwhelmed with everything that had happened. And now... she was crying? Daire gulped. It was easy to be polite, courteous and protective of women.. but when those mysterious drops of liquid spewed from their eyes, everything would become a complete enigma. He can't protect a woman from sadness... or any other emotion that could cause tears, for that matter. Daire learned the hard way that women occaisonally cry when they're happy. And how did that make any sense?

The lion froze there, staring expectantly at the female to wait for a response.

Fidda had hardly recognized that the log was now gone as she spun around to stare at the male with large wet eyes. "I DON'T WANT TO DIE! I DON'T WANT TO DIIE!!" she sobbed greatly. "Not like poor Ma and Pa...and dear old Grandmama and Grandpapa!" she blubbered for a few more minutes. "What if I'm stuck in this log forever and My bum rots off and I die of some nas....oh..?" she suddenly paused...sniffed, and tilted her head.

The log was gone. Her rear was free. Free as a bird and unscathed too. She took a moment to test it, shook her rear end a bit, flicked her tail, then smiled a wet teary smile. "Oh mercy me, thank you, THANK YOU!" she sniffled again, but this time happy tears as she threw herself at the male and nuzzled her affection all over him.

Then suddenly she realized what she was doing and drew back, her cheeks hot from blushing. "Forgive me... I'm...just....so relieved." she said and wiped her eyes with her paws.

Talk about total 360.

Daire could only stare with his eyes as round and big as elephant feets. The lioness appeared to have a psychotic break right in front of him. All of his attempted verbal comforts were completely drowned out by the sound of dread for the future that didn't seem to exist... "It's okay... Don't cry... You're free now..."

Then she came back to reality, and Daire was more than relieved... But the lion gasped and cringed as the lioness embraced him in a thankful hug. Yet again the poor lion was put in a situation he didn't know how to handle. It's so wrong to touch a woman who isn't your mate... Though it appears she didn't understand that, so Daire endured the hug with a stiff face of discomfort.

"You're very welcome, ma'am. I'm glad to be of assistance." Daire chuckled, finding the relieved pink-faced lioness very cute.

After a brief session of thoughts, Daire decided to stay with the lioness until she seemed to calm down enough to function on her own. "Would you like to take a walk with me? Perhaps we can get a drink somewhere a little less dangerous..." He chuckled.

Blinking up at the male once more, Fidda blushed and quickly let go. "Sorry... I'm so sorry... I shouldn't have done that....oh stupid Fidda, see what youv'e gone and done!" she mumbled to herself as she glanced down at her feet, rubbing her ankles together. Her ears flickered at his words, and what he said last caught her completely off guard.

"A... walk... with you? You mean.... your not....well....I mean... I'd love too!" she grinned, straightening herself up and giving a few quick licks to smooth down her chest fur. It was the first time someone had actually wanted to do something with her that wasn't rescue her, then leave her while snickering quietly behind her back. "And yes....less dangerous.... would be lovely." she blushed.
