She felt something was going to happen today. Something amazing, or something bad. Which one, Jaloo wasn't very clear on, but her heart was thumping in her chest. She'd been cooped up for so long that she forgot what it was like to socialize. The girl who owned her had taken off with her, her dad and the small horse on a long journey and had loaded them down with so much stuff. But now she was back home. It felt good. The air was so much crisper by the river, and she missed the humidity so much.
Jaloo's braids were finally not frizzing. She'd gone to the mountains; and her hair frizzed out so much that her owner had actually laughed at her for it. Looking at her reflection in the nearly frozen river, the brightly colored mare gave a hard sigh and moved back. Something was coming. "I'm facing it head on," she whispered to herself, suddenly amazed by her crystallized breath.
