Malodore had never truly appreciated Amityville Academy's grounds before this, it seemed - never really understood how beautiful, how warm, how free of snow and peppermint the complex was. How devoid of drunken festive trees, how empty of plush pink elephants...
It didn't need to breathe, but it took a deep breath just the same. Smelled like... mist and graveyard dirt.
Perfect.
"Luce, vieni qui," it called as it stepped out of the undead dormitory. The little cwn annwn followed eagerly, bouncing out and tumbling in the fresh dirt just outside, coming up with her coat just a bit muddy. A spider skittered free, and she pounced on that next, her tail waving so fast it was a white blur.
Yes. This was definitely the very very best most un-festive place in the entire world.

Junko was very happy to be home again. Very happy indeed. The moment she was back in her dorm she fed Her, or rather let Her feed Herself, snuggled with her pygmy foxes who were very happy to have their mommy home and soaked her feet in a tub of warm water for a good long time. Now she was happy to be out, even playing outside with her foxes now. They didn't go out very often and were very excited to be out with their mommy.
So excited they'd bolted out the door the moment it was open. Now two small foxes, one purple one black, were yipping and yapping and chirping to each other as they pranced around far ahead of their owner who was running behind them as quickly as she could. She was both happy for them and worried of losing them.
"Sayuri! Kuro! Wait up!" She called after them, not noticing anyone else nearby yet. She had two hyper foxes to catch!

Luce was happily chewing on a spider leg when her ears suddenly perked up (as much as her floppy ears could, anyway). What was that? What was that sound?
Paws!
Luce took off, leaving her spider catch half-eaten - and leaving her master to run after her, calling "Luce! Tresorina!" in utter futility. The pup was in hunt mode now... but what she found wasn't too much smaller than she was! And they smelled like...
"Junko?" Malodore called out, as Luce veered away from the foxes and pelted towards their mistress.

Sayuri and Kuro each skid to a stop when they heard something coming at them, their ears perked and their gazes focused intently on the little white puppy coming at them. If they ever shared a mind...now was the time, for they were thinking the exact same thing.
Play? Play? Play?! PLAY! PLAYPLAYPLAYPLAYPLAY!
Kuro yipped happily and the pair of foxes took off toward the white puppy. Junko stopped in her tracks when she saw Luce and heard Malodore call out the puppy's name, gasping softly as she knelt down to scoop the puppy up, using her momentum to lift her and cuddle her close. Luuuuce! "Why, hello! Aren't you precious!" Meanwhile, Kuro had stopped running without giving any sign of warning to Sayuri, who ran right into him and sent the two of them tumbling in a pile of purple and black. Junko winced, watching her foxes roll. Great job, guys.
"Hmmm? Oh! Hello, Malodore!" She wasn't surprised to see him; Malodore didn't seem the type to let Luce just run around on her own. For now, Kuro was content with punishing Sayuri for crashing into him with a bit of playful wrestling, growling and gnawing on her ear. "How are you doing?"

"Absolutely thrilled to be out of the snow," Malodore said, dryly. Luce wriggled and licked at Junko's face. "And yourself? Are these yours?" it added, diverted by the presence of the other small canines. They were... rather cute, actually! Not quite as precious as Luce, of course. But cute.

Junko giggled and squealed as Luce licked at her face, closing her eyes and giving the puppy her cheek so she could speak with Malodore. "As am I! I need to give Riley back her boots. It was very kind of her to let me borrow them, but I am so happy to be home. She is happy as well." Junko said, opening her eyes and glancing toward Her for a moment. Oh yes, She was very happy. In fact She was distracted with cramming cookies into Her mouth, making obnoxiously delighted chewing sounds. So delicious! So amazing! She was so happy to be able to feed Herself again! Junko was allowing it for now.
Her gaze turned down to her wrestling foxes, giggling and nodding. She made a little clicking sound with her tongue to get their attention; both foxes immediately stopped wrestling to pad over to their mommy, yipping and climbing up to flop across her feet. Junko smiled. "Mhm! The purple one is Sayuri, and the black one is Kuro. Aren't they cute?" She turned her gaze up from her foxes to Malodore, smiling. "Glad to see you got back safely! Luce and all." Junko was very glad, she had only just met him on a more personal level than classmate-she-got-a-glimpse-of-and-sat-in-the-same-room-as and she very much hoped the rest of her friends fared just as well.

Malodore glanced back at Junko's hair, slightly startled - what with all the pink elephants and elves and things, it actually hadn't noticed that there was something back there. Especially not something eating cookies. "Ah... mi scusi, but... has your hair always... done that?" She sounded like Junko was referring to something else. Something outside of herself.
"I am sorry if this is sudden, but every other time I've seen you, our surroundings have been... rather chaotic," it added.

She could feel the stare on her hair, and she saw how he reacted. Junko frowned a little and just waited for the questions, fully expecting them by now; just because she expected them didn't mean she had to be okay with them. Sigh. She wiggled her toes underneath her foxes and snuggled Luce against her, nuzzling her cheek against the top of the Luce's head. "Ah, yes. It's...Her. My hair acts as Her limbs? She has complete control over it, so when we went to Christmas Town She was very unhappy." And unfortunately that unhappiness seeped into Junko the longer they suffered through it. It was very unsettling and incredibly annoying. She blinked, smiling a little as Malodore apologized.
"It's alright, that's very true. It's nice to have things calmed down, isn't it?" Very nice indeed. Of course, now Junko was honestly expecting even more questions...or for Malodore to even try to see Her. She didn't seem to pay either student any mind, getting crumbs everywhere as she devoured the contents of the cookie bag.

"I see. My apologies for not noting your situation sooner - I am generally more observant," it said, bowing. "Christmas Town was not a terribly joyful occasional... except literally." Ugh, JOY. It had had more than enough of JOY. And then with the school play coming up...
Ugh.
"I wish they'd scheduled the school play a bit further from our return," it said, shaking its head. "I do not have many lines, and which few I do posess are lacking in pathos, but... I truly have had more than enough of Christmas."

"It's alright. At first I found it nice to have a break from being attacked by my own hair, but then She started to get annoyed and it..." Junko frowned and tried to let it just die off, not wanting to mention anymore before she had to back peddle and try to explain Her in a way that wouldn't make Malodore think less of her. Or something. She sighed and nodded in agreement in regards to Christmas Town, sighing. It was awful.
Oh, right. The school play was coming up soon. She was still so disappointed in that. Nuk? For Sally? Ugh. Junko sighed again. "Oh, you're in it? That's great! I auditioned for Sally." But she didn't get it, obviously. Junko scritched under Luce's chin, noticing just then that her feet were considerably lighter. Hmmm? She looked down to find two pairs of eyes staring up at her, their little tails wagging and their tongues sticking out of their mouths. They were staring intently at her...no...not her. They were staring at Luce. Junko blinked.
"Would...Luce like to play with Sayuri and Kuro?" She asked Malodore, not wanting to put Luce down to play with her foxes if it wasn't okay.

"I am sure Luce would," Malodore said, reaching out to tap the pup once on the nose. "Behave yourself, tresorina. Hunt spiders, not foxes."
Luce yipped once, then squirmed to be let down.
"And... yes. I am in it," the plague doctor sighed. "An acquaintance of mine convinced me to make the attempt. I didn't think I would actually get a role - but now that I have it, I shall do my best."

Good! As much as Junko adored Luce she knew the puppy would have more fun playing with her foxes. She giggled and set the puppy down after Malodore was finishing giving her his little warning, watching as her foxes went nuts with happiness. They yipped and squeaked, prancing around Luce. Kuro even got down in front of her in a pounce-ready position, his fluffy tail lashing behind him. Sayuri decided she also wanted to join in, coming at Kuro from the side and leaping onto him. Play! Playplayplayplayplayplayplayplayplay!
Junko honestly didn't know where they got this energy.
"Oh, really? How lucky! What did you audition for?" Junko had only looked at the list long enough to know she wasn't Sally and that Nuk was. That annoying jerk. She hoped she never had to deal with him on a personal level ever. "I wish you the best of luck! Ah..break a leg, I mean! So what have you been up to aside from the play?" And...raiding Christmas Town, of course.

"Break a leg?" Malodore looked quizzical for a moment, then nodded. "Ah, yes, theatrical superstition. And I auditioned for the role of Lock. I will admit, that while I am nominally familiar with the tale... I tried out mainly because Gargantuan asked me to." It coughed, a bit embarrassed with the whole affair.
Luce, meanwhile, play-bowed back at Kuro and reared up on her hind legs, barking happily before tearing off in circles!

Junko giggled and smiled, nodding her head. "Yes, I've been told you're supposed to say break a leg!" Perhaps it really didn't matter? She just thought all the theatre superstitions were fun! Well, okay maybe not all of them but some of them! The ones about having to spin around and stuff didn't sound as fun, they sounded silly. Junko smiled, nodding to Malodore's explanation. How lucky for Malodore! At least he got to be in the play, right? "Gargantuan? I see! It's a good experience, at least?"
Kuro and Sayuri both turned to look at Luce when she barked, and then tensed when she began to run. It took them both a second but they soon hurried after the puppy, running after her as fast as their little legs could carry them.
It never did occur to them that she was running in circles and they could easily cut her off...yet.
Junko blinked and glanced down at the pets, chuckling. "I thought dogs were supposed to chase foxes. Not the other way around." But they seemed to be enjoying themselves, so that was good.

"It seems they are having fun," Malodore said, pleasantly. "You didn't bring them on the trip, did you? Other than Israfel's little creature, I don't think many people decided to travel with their pets." Not that Malodore regretted bringing Luce, not at all! She'd been excellent at biting elves, among other things. "Perhaps next time?"
