[____________[ - ] ABOUT [ v ] INVESTORS COLUMN____________]
[ v ] - Investors Column, is a community resource, which will provide a few guidelines, in investing money(Gaian gold) on future items such as donation items, rare/uncommon items, and event items. We also hope to provide a solid ground for community related discussions geared towards Inflation.
Let's face it, inflation has been one of those topics commonly discussed. We here at Investors Column, hope to provide those that are new with some insight as far as how inflation works, some good ways to invest, what to consider when investing and so forth. We also hope to establish this as a rigourous thread, devoted to indepth discussion related to inflation and investing on both future and present releases of items.

[____________[ - ] -THE BASICS[Starters Guide]____________]
As a Gaian, sometime in your life, upon familiarity, you became aware of the fact that items, inflate, over the course of time. Now that you're somewhat satisfied with what you currently have, you're hoping to profit, sometime in the future, by investing your additional gold. In this section, we will look at a few quick options which you have, we'll explore them in slight detail. After, we'll begin to deconstruct the Gain Economy in order to show you the complexity of this system. I hope you find the material here, useful. AEGIS, was chosen, as the name for this guide, because AEGIS means shield, meaning we'll help you 'protect' your gold or utilize it to its maximum potential in its current state, during the different conditions which maybe set in place.
Investments here on Gaia usually fall in two categories, short-term investments and long-term investments. Generally, most Gaians have often understood the Gaian Economic System to be based on the traditional 'Supply & Demand' saying. Now although this is true to certain respects, the simple notion of Supply & Demand, will not enable you to understood exactly how this system works (Gaia's Economy), and therefore, in short, were going to learn about this system, before we begin to explore your options as far as investing.
Prices of donation items vary, as you can see, if you view the market place and in short, items inflate at an irregular unpredictable pattern. Now, although they inflate in such obscure ways, I will introduce to you the major factors which will enable you to understand the causes of inflation. Within this system, donation items inflate because of 1-appeal, 2- population growth , 3-avid exchangers, 4-supply (under proper conditions), and 5- demand (under proper conditions).
To learn these factors in greater detail, please click [ H E R E ]
The Guide they called A E G I S
Before you begin to invest, you should figure out how soon you would like to reap benefits. Usually short term investments, bring in small returns and long term investments bring large returns. I usually see the time frame of a short term investment, ranging from a few weeks, to possibly 2 months at most. Long term investments, usually span from 4 months to however many years of your choice. The key though is to decide what you want in order to not be dissappointed.

[____________[ + ] -the QUICK & the DEAD____________]
______[ + ] the QUICK & the DEAD
Alright, in this section, I'm going to focus on certain aspects of investing. I like to call these aspects 'edges'. By understanding this methods appropriately, you can get an edge in your investing. Obviously, if you spend less then you were hoping to or were expected to, you would have more gold left behind to invest in other items, therefore, you're maximizing your investing capabilities by spending less and thus the end result is you can invest even more. Were going to look at 3 special crafts today when it comes to investing they are: De-Valuing , Comprehending Fluxes, and Cycling. The last 2 names, were made up by me, but the names in themselves summarize the crafts themselves, so let us begin.
De-valuing
De-valuing is the process of diminishing an item's value minimally. De-valuing isn't too new of a concept among exchangers or investors, yet many newcomers or even active exchangers never run into this matter. Often items what will occur is, two exchangers plan to exchange, they present their items, and one exchanger, will remove some value from the items which are presented. To some this is seen as an insult, but to many experienced exchanger, this is how things are often done. Why does de-valuing exist, why should it concern you, and how will you benefit from knowing about it, these are the 3 questions which I will begin to explain. De-valuing came into existance when items in general began to gain rarity. Also often items, the values which exist at the market place, is simply not the true value of an item, and thus De-valuing occurs. In general, 03 items will always diminish a certain value when compared to 04s and 05s. Therefore, suppose you wanted a nitemare scarf and you had intended to trade a few 04 items for that scarf, as an exchanger, be prepared to have your 04 items slightly de-valued. The items are de-valued mainly because there are more 04s in circulation then there are 03s and thus 03s gain the 'rare' status and therefore in general, 03s are far more authentic then 04s and the rest, de-valuing occurs also because 04s tend to fluctuate far more then 03s and experienced exchangers also take this into account when performing a high to low exchange (meaning swapping an 03 for a set of 04s, or swapping an 04 for a set of 05s), although lately lower end 03s have been fluctuating and presenting a bit of a mystery among exchangers. Understanding this is concept significant because often times, when you go to invest in an item which is more authentic you will have to purchase that investment and some of you may want to do an item exchange. So before you do, consider the following consequences. In general, as an investor, you won't save your gold if you perform an investment through an item exchange. It's always better to buy an item with pure gold, even if it's slightly more expensive then you would expect, then have your items de-valued. De-valuing is quite common and you should expect it if you intend to perform an item swap, specifically a significant item swap.
Comprehending Fluxes
Comprehending fluxes in donation items and event items can save you quite a bit of gold if you intend to invest, and therefore this matter should be discussed thoroughly. In general, a flux is merely a sudden change in an item's common price. Notice I said, 'common price' . This is quite a significant word you should look closely too. Usually, a flux does not represent the true value of an item but fluxes can prove to be quite useful if you come to understand them. In general, donation items fluxes are subdivided to 2. There are fluxes among sealed letters and fluxes among donation items. There also exists fluxes among event items, this matter will be discussed after. These fluxes have become so common, that they occur like a pattern, and thus recognizing these patterns at the appropriate time can prove to be quite beneficial for the investor.
Often times, users question when to buy and invest in sealed letters. Understanding this pattern should aid you in future purchases.
Sealeds letters generally tend to start at high prices during the first few days that they are attainable. Prices are high for a few short reasons, 1) less competition and 2) less items in circulation, therefore the prices are usually fairly high to begin with. About a week or 2 into the month, more sealed letters come into circulation, more competition among sellers occur and thus, prices begin to steadily drop. Usually 2 weeks before the end of the month, the price of the letters will begin to rise and upon the date of release of the item, prices are at an all time high, thus the absolute worst time to purchase them.
The fluxing of donation items is probably the most difficult task to understand. In general, to understand the fluxing of donation items, you must become an exchanger. You must investigate the buying and selling of the current item and you need to see how buyers respond to the item as it's being sold. Often times item prices will spike up to newer values yet settle back down and this is often misunderstood by many. Often times, after the occurrence of a spike, say an 04 item spiked up, it's price may decline, if there are no consumers with the appropriate purchase power to cause any form of demand to keep it's price up. Usually, it's this key aspect which effects the 'spiked' item in such away that it reverts back to its older price. At times, this is not so, because items such as the 'ninja band' have experienced fluxes all too often and the prices tend to stabilize at the newly set prices because there was an active form of demand presented by the consumers. As an investor, before you intend to invest in an item which appears to be on the road fluxing at a higher price, try and get a sense of the item's present value, how many consumers are putting active demands on the item, how much appeal the item has to the general population and it's fluxing history and lastly, a broad knowledge of how well the item circulates among buyers and sellers. If you have a solid understanding on those aspects of the item, you will make a rich investment and you'll know when to invest and when not to invest.
Event items tend to follow a very simple pattern to understand. Usually the key factors which dictate the price flow of these items, are 'appeal', 'how easily attainable they are' and 'gathering time'. These 3 factors together, can give us a bit of insight into the item's average price growth rate. If an event item is highly appealing to the mass public, hard or very time consuming to attain during the event, and you're given a short period of time to attain it, rest assured that after the event is over, there will be few of these items in circulation. Usually when an event occurs, users love to have these items, imagine if users were only permitted to only 1 set of these items and imagine if there simply was not enough time for them to complete the event more then once, at a large scale, most users would want to keep that 1 set and therefore, the item's price over average periods of time would elevate significantly. Obviously in this day and age of Gaia, such an event has not yet occurred, most users have doubles, triples, quintroople sets of these event items, this does play a role to their growth rate simply due to the fact that, more competition among sellers will generally tend to drive prices down, or prices will inflate steadily and slowly and not rapidly. In general the best times to invest in event items, a few hours before the cut off of that item. By then, prices are low, there are plenty of them circulating and plenty of users wanting to get rid of their extras. If you purchase them upon time of release, you will waste a significant amount of gold.

Very nice. Yet it's a bit too abstract and digressed from the guild's objectives, is it not?

Lucifer_Satan Very nice. Yet it's a bit too abstract and digressed from the guild's objectives, is it not? It is x) , I agree, which is why I only consider it as a contribution xDD. Something for those who are interested to view 3nodding . But I do hope to discuss the inflation aspect of things. 3nodding
