Night.
It was the perfect time for Midnight to be up and wandering around. The mare's dark coat blended into the darkness as she stepped out of the forest she'd been journeying through. The sliver of light that the moon cast on the ground was just sufficient enough to highlight the white markings on her body. Ears pricked forward, ever listening for a hint of danger, Midnight trotted out onto the grassy plain that she found herself on.
Sighing more out of boredom than anything she lowered her neck and nibbled on a few shoots of grass that were sticking out of the ground at her feet. How could her father expect her to be like him ... when there weren't any Soquili around that she could try to influence. It was definitely a conundrum that the mare wanted to solve. She'd been blessed with being her father's favorite since her birth and she'd do anything to keep in that way.

Demon was.... pleased. He had finally managed to use Black Magic, listening to all the ramblings of Alti had paid off. With a smug grin he recalled the incident where he had actually left a unicorn blind! Ok.... so it wasn't dead, but it was a start.... all he needed now was.... another victum! He looked to the sky, he had always prefered night, it was probably because Lana'thel -the mistress who tried to keep him as a pet- could not go out in the day and so forced him to do the same. The difference was.... he didn't have such a fatal flaw.... his breed could go out in the day and night, true hunters. He heard a sound. Hooves? They were light though, leaving Demon with the impression of either a foal or a slightly built mare. He was hoping the latter.... after all, it wouldn't be sporting to kill a foal. He wandered towarss the noise, the trees in the forest dulling it causing him to take an extra moment to actually find his prey. Sure enough it was a mare.... with a pelt filled with runes that almost glowed and a mane of many colours. Interesting enough..... and a plain regular, if any breed deserved to die it was hers. He nodded with a satisfied grin. He didn't see the point in the regular breed.... what was their purpose? Still, a good victum if ever he saw one. The only question now... reveal himself or attempt it in secret? But even as he thought it he knew the answer, Demon had never been a coward to attack without his victum ever knowing who had done it... sure he wasn't against a sneak back attack, but that was simply taking advantage of the situation. Decided he wandered forward.... perhaps he could play with his victum first?

It was the sound of hooves that drew Midnight to turn around. Why couldn't she be allowed to muse in silence. Her ears swiveled slightly before she turned around to see just who had wandered upon her this night. Her father had stressed the importance of not trusting Skinwalkers but this stranger clearly was not of the Skinwalker variety. In all of her travels the mare had never been so close to a Kalona.
Experimentally she lifted her hind hoof before placing it solidly on the ground again. Her eyes never left the stranger's body as she took in his wings and horns before dismissing them. Her mind realized that it there was danger in the air as the Kalona neared but along with that thought was that this stallion was beneath her attention. The presence that the Kalona brought to the open ground was intimidating though and Midnight couldn't stand the fact that she was the one considering leaving.
Keeping her gaze steady Midnight spoke, "I'd say good evening to you - but I know your kind well and to even express the wish would be pointless."
Was it wise to antagonize? Probably not - but Midnight's Whisper would hold her ground.

Perhaps this wouldn't be as boring as he had predicted, he thought with a smug grin as the mare tried to taunt him with her words. "Oh now.... that seems a little.... sudden?" He purred the words out, a habit he had picked up from being brought up with his mother -a pathetic excuse for a kalona, what had his father ever seen in her. With a shake of his head he dismissed such thoughts, he supposed if they had not got together he would never exsist..... and that was simply unacceptable.
Deciding that playing with his prey was definatly on the cards he walked around her, his spade tail gently touching -no more than a whisper- as he 'investigated her'. Sure enough her body was well made, muscles in the right places, meat in the right places..... and he supposed the body markings were attractive if you liked that kind of thing. Demon didn't. As he walked he spoke; "It's not as if you even know me....." He purred again, "I could be one of those...... nice...... Kalonas." To Demon the idea of Kalona and nice in the same sentance was an insult to thei kind..... Kalonas were NOT meant to be nice, they were built for flight, speed, destruction.... why simply abandon all that? It didn't make sence.
Playing was..... fun. He said as his smile widened, appearing more like a snarl due to his extended fangs.

Midnight held her ground as the Kalona circled around her with his tail actively moving, apparently measuring, different areas of her body. As he neared the front Midnight raised a hoof and subtly tried pinning the spade portion of tail to the ground. The idea that the stallion raised in her mind was ludicrous - she had never heard of Kalonas that were nice.
Deciding to further exercise her sharp tongue on this stallion Midnight spoke in response to Demon's words.
"If you are indeed a nice Kalona I guess that would make me a peltless Skinwalker. The very idea that you, with your circling, could be nice is just enough to want me to gag. I mean really. Perhaps you could fool a foal with that story - but I am not one to buy into your ramblings. Now would you care to cease and desist with the circles that you are walking around me. It's getting quite tiresome."
Midnight's gaze trailed after Demon as she remained still. Her back leg muscles tensed as she prepared to lash out if the stallion made another circuit behind her. That would teach him properly.

Demon raised an eyebrow at the mare before laughing. "Good answer," At least they had something in common.... Kalonas were not nice! And anyone who claimed to be was a waste of the pelt they were born in.
A slight appreciation however did nothing to dampen his need to test his new found ability on his prey. "I will stop..... for now, not because you asked but because..." He took a step back, his snarled smile never leaving his lips. "...I have other plans for you."
Then Demon tried to remember what he had done last time.... focus.... concentrate.... imagine what you want and then will it to life.....
Death.... illness to rise..... consume her from the inside out.... death....
Only time would tell if it would work. With his last victum it had happened near enough straight away, unfortunitly it had faded just as quickly -most likely due to the unicorn blood running through his veins, or at least that was what Demon believed.
Will it work? 1- Yes 2- No 3- Yes, but only after a while.

Midnight scoffed silently as the Kalona told her that he would stop. Thinking that it was way too easy the mare eyed Demon as he stepped back from her. What was this? This stallion had plans for her? Midnight stamped a hoof angrily on the ground. Why was it that stallions seemed to think that mares had no right to decide anything for themselves?
"Hey. Don't go thinking that you can start interfering with my life. Nobody is making decisions for me," here Midnight actually paused. Why was the Kalona just standing there and seemingly concentrating on something that she could not see? Was there something wrong with him? Deciding that she just didn't care Midnight turned to leave. The word freak echoed throughout her mind as she glanced back over her shoulder to stare at the oddity of the scene before her.
For all his talk and actions the stallion seemed almost weak in her eyes. Flicking her tail dismissively Midnight took a step forward before seemingly freezing in place. What was this odd sensation she was feeling?
Her vision blurred slightly as she tried to categorize what was happening. Her mind drew a blank just as her legs buckled beneath her. Crashing to the ground Midnight cursed as she felt the impact throughout her body. A sudden feeling of lethargy and fatigue stole over the mare as she tried unsuccessfully to get to her feet again. This was not good at all. Her gaze caught sight of Demon as she struggled futilely to rise to her feet. He must have done this...somehow.

Demon found himself frustrated as the mare made to walk away from him, to tried to focus harder -remembering that sometimes it took a while for the 'Black magic' to take hold. He grunted from the effort but soon relaxed when the mare fell to the ground.
He smiled. A wide, menacing grin that made his eyes appear even more eerie in the darkness. With a graceful stride he walked towards his prey and lowered his head to look into her face. He considered taunting her, and probably would.... but first he just wanted to observe her, taking in the beauty of his handy work... after all, he was positive this was his doing, not a fluke. he was shocked it had worked first time, but pleased.... perhaps this was a good sign, a sign that he was finally mastering it.
He simply watched and stared at her for a long while before the notion to speak was too overwhelming to ignore; "It seems.... that I have more power over you than you would like to think." He smirked, his grin wide and snarl like due to his extended teeth. "What a shame you were not nicer to me. You will die soon, too soon for my liking.... but that matters not." He grinned, thinking of all the possibilities this power could have if he could use it against those who dared threaten him. Destroy them before they became a threat. He liked that idea... alot!

Midnight found that she did not like the feeling of being taunted. The mare watched the Kalona with hatred burning in her eyes. He had caused whatever had suddenly gone wrong with her body. The nerve. Her father was right in his teachings. Anger flaring Midnight struggled briefly before rising to her feet. There was no sense of balance as she teetered unsteadily on her hooves. The urge to just stay down on the ground was overpowered by the need to fight whatever was going on inside of her.
"You'd like to think that I'll go quietly but I have two words for you ... dream on. I will not give you the satisfaction of making my "death" easy for you. How about you quit cheating and fight properly?"
The better idea that Midnight had was to simply turn tail and move away from this strange Kalona but her pride was getting the better of her. What offense could she possibly provide against a much stronger opponent. With a lot of effort the mare held her head high ... she wanted to attack - but it seemed all she could manage to do was stand up straight.

Demon had to admit it.... he was impressed. Despite how weak she was she had still managed to struggle to her feet once more.... still, he was frustrated, his black magic was still weak? Or was it just that this mare was so resilliant and determined? His mentor hadn't really talked much about the effects of using black magic, not all forms at least, since it could materialise itself in many forms depending on the individuals weaknesses.
Annoyed or not, in the moment, with her couragous -although foolish- words floated in his head all he could was resist the urge to laugh. She had gall that was for sure. With a smirk he nodded, "As you wish..... but my magic is not cheating." He genuinely believed that, any creature worth their salt would all their skills to their advantage, be it a skill to read the stars, a skill to heal, a skill to fly high.... Demon's skill was just a little tricker than that, and apparantly unpredicatable. "Still...." He mused, taking a moment to watch a fresh flash of detemination course through the mares veins, it was clear she wanted to attack him; and if looks could kill he definatly be among their number right now. The fact was, he had been fighting with his hooves and teeth far longer than he had discovered magic; the scars on his body as testiment to that.
So.... without another thought or word he....
Attack roll 1- Charged an already weak Midnight and headbutted her, the bottom horn catching her slightly leaving a small wound. 2- His tail sways from side to side before striking the back of her front legs (around the knee). 3- Decided to procrasinate for a moment and circle her once more in an effort to work out what effects the black magic had had on her small form. 4- Demon smirked at her before taking a step towards her, putting his face close to hers so that their breath mingled and her scent filled his sences. He spoke; "I am going to enjoy this!" He narrowed his glowing eyes.

Midnight still struggled to remain standing as the stallion told her that his magic was not cheating. Shaking her head carefully she had to disagree. Using something that caused your opponent to weaken before even striking a blow could be construed as cheating. As Midnight watched Demon for any tell-tale signs that he'd attack she saw his tail move.
The blow, from his tail, while not that strong still managed to cause Midnight's legs to skitter forward a little. She lurched forward with the motion and almost ended back on the ground. Turning around to face the stallion seemed out of the question but she was definitely stubborn. She wouldn't allow herself to be beaten so easily.
Taking a little time and effort Midnight managed to turn her body so that she faced Demon again and glared menacingly. He had it coming to him.
With a lot of effort Midnight charged the stallion:
1. Midnight, still weakened, falters mid-charge and tumbles to the ground. (Miss) 2. Midnight manages to reach Demon and deliver a headbutt to the stallion. (Minor damage) 3. Having taken too much time to deliberate Midnight rushes her target only to discover that he's moved. (Miss) 4. Midnight's charge brings her barreling into Demon's body. (minor to moderate damage) ... but the shock of impact knocks Midnight back down.

He laughed at the shake of her head, the obviously saw things different.... but his black magic was just as advantagous as a unicorn using their healing, or an Angeni using their power or higher flight against their opponants. Demon's power was simply more..... aggressive.
Demon half-circled her, the edges of his lips tugging higher up as she nearly fell back to her knees. She was weak.... and he had done this to her. The possibilities for this power were endless.... if he could control it, summon it at will.... well, that would be an achievement. Perhaps all the ramblings of his mentor had paid off after all.
He watched her, studying to see what the effects of his black magic had brought forth in her. Weakness..... but he couldn't see anything else physically, whatever was happening was inside. A shame, he would have liked to see her covered in boils and sores. The attack she was attempting to strike was easy to avoid, the effort and obvious strain on her body making it easy to predict while observing her.
He moved towards her head, shaking it with a 'tut' of disapproval. "Why m'dear, I do believe you will do yourself more harm right now. You are weak!" He pretended to think about it, turned his head lazily to one side and yawn from disinterest. "On second thought, do as you wish. You are no fun anymore." It was one thing to taunt and injured lion, but as far as Demon was concerned his fun here was done. The mare would remain weak.... she would not survive long, and Demon had too many plans for his new found ability to stay and watch.
He turned from her then, casting one last look over his shoulder before saying; "Thank you for making such an...... interesting.... victum. Even if you were too easy to take out." he grinned, his elongated teeth making it appear more like a snarl.
Then he started to walk off, without another backward look.

Regulus was running full pelt to a destination he didn't full know. All the stars had said was move East and FAST! The word 'fast' had echoed in his mind just as strongly as it was screamed by the stars themselves. It meant only one thing. He was needed.... NOW!
As a pure unicorn, Regulus's powers were stronger than most others with healing abilities; and with his expertise and practise he was likely one of the few unicorns with such a diverse knowlegde of his ability. He had cursed physical aliments and wounds as well as internal diseases. Of course, internal problems were much more trickery and used up more concentration and effort than those you could see.... but the result was usually the same. A life was safed.
Regulus had always believed it was not his place to judge, he was not God, he did not get to decide who he healed and who he didn't; all he could do was use the power he was given through his lineage to help others. Good or Evil. It didn't matter.
Still, his heart pounded in his chest as he noticed older, softer footprints in the ground. Cloven hooves. Although more breeds than just the kalona possessed them Regulus had a bad feeling, and his gut feelings were usually right. Was it a Kalona he was here to heal? Or someone attacked by one? Either way this could get messy... and fast! The few Kalona's Regulus had met were viscious, and did not appreciate the help of others or the interference for that matter. They were savage, almost as lost to the darkness and madness as skinwalker.
Still... it was his duty to help. His hooves thundered on the ground as he raced forward.... towards the unknown.

"I am not weak."
Midnight's voice tore through the air. The feeling of fatigue and lethargy was still with the mare and she knew that whatever the Kalona had done still lingered inside of her. But the sensation seemed weakened. Was it wearing off? However it happened Midnight wouldn't know but a small flame of resiliency had been lit inside of her at the taunting words that Demon had spoke. She needed to try and teach this stallion a lesson. It was imperative that she get at least one solid blow to avenge her fate. It would probably amount to signing a death sentence but her pride would not allow her to back down so easily. How could he just turn his back on her and walk away as if nothing had happened? Midnight dragged herself to her feet awkwardly.
In a way one would almost assume that she was ready to give up. Sure it'd be easier to just lay back down and let whatever would happen to pass. If only Demon had turned around - he might have seen a different image of the mare he'd left to die. A hoof scraped the ground with a feather light touch as she gathered what remained of her strength. The power it would take to score a direct hit would be costly but Midnight's Whisper was beyond caring now. Instinct had taken over. As silent as she could the mare began her charge.
- - - - - - - - - 1 - Midnight is able to catch up to Demon and deliver a painful bite to one of his wings. (minor to moderate damage) 2 - Midnight misjudges her charge and rams painfully into Demon's backside. The impact might be painful but the jarring sensation knocks Midnight back to the ground. (Minor damage) 3 - Drawing parallel to the Kalona Midnight turns and lashes out with her hind legs striking Demon's flank. (minor damage)
(( I want Midnight to get in at least one hit on Demon. Just to salvage her pride. I don't care about repercussions. ^=^))

Demon had dismissed the mare, and so he had also ignored the sound of her panting breaths and the movement behind him; as far as he had been concerned the mare was worthless now.... past her expiry date. A smirk crawled onto his lips.
Of course, that was until..... SNAP!
Pain raged through his wing and his head snapped in its direction to find the mare and her teeth firmly attached to it. He roared in a mixture of agony and pain as he shook her off as hard as he could, he didn't care if she fell over or not.... he would do so much more to her down. He looked to his wing for a moment, it was bleeding! She had made him bleed! The scent of his blood lingered in the air, it was a scent Demon hated.... he had always disliked it.
Glowing eyes tuned in on the mare who had dared do this to him. Perhaps he would have usually found worth in her effort, worth in her determination.... but right now all he could see was a sea of red.
"Why you stupid mare..... I will teach you your place!" And with that he reared backwards, his front legs ready to strike down at her with a force of a truck.
Attack Roll 1- Strikes hard and with a menacing laughter. 2- Strikes her, but not as strong as he had hoped because his attention was drawn to an approaching sound. 3- Demon roared and brought his hooved down purposefully missing her but stil sending dirt from the ground up at her with the force they struck the ground. He looks at her for a moment and then growls; "You are so pathetic you are not worth my time."
((OOC: Oh thats fine Telfa XD I don't mind at all. Will teach Demon to ignore someone injured or backed into a corner! That is when they are their deadliest!))
