"Hey!"
The youthful tone cut through the dusk of the night, and when it didn't get an immediate response, it was repeated. "I saiiiid, Hey! Can't you hear, then, Stonehead?" That was her name, wasn't it? The little ferret jumped to his feet, following after the raptor, that probably had somewhere to be.
"Where are you going? Are you going to another clan? Are you going to beat someone up? I bet you are. Can I tag along, then?" He danced around her a bit, ears pricked forward, swinging his fisted paws in the air and dodging invisible opponents.
They weren't friends, of course, not a full-grown raptor and a youngling ferret, but it didn't matter to him. He was bored, and she was stomping about with a purpose! And alone, too. Maybe she had a secret?
"Have you a secret, then?"

What was that?
The raptor, large, in obviously good shape and stature and with a dark, charcoal colored beak that fit her namesake, twisted her head towards the source. The sound, which continued, was positively irritable.
"Hmph," was her response as she used a brief flurry of wings to move her way along to the next branch.
The sound continued. Stonebeak stopped. It was difficult for her to see in the low light, but she could make out a small, moving shadow that seemed reckless, and quite edible. The female sprung down from her perch, sweeping over the ferret as she landed in front of him. Perhaps he would grow nervous and leave.
"You are annoying," she noted. She eyed him in the dark, squinting her poor vision and ruffling her feathers. "No secrets. I do not like you. You will go away now."
This seemed an appropriate response. One which he should listen to, of course!

Instead, he engaged in a surprisingly impressive display of acrobatics, including a somersault and a handstand. Unfortunately for Stonebeak [or unfortunately for Baneberry], he was unintimidated. Tough little ones were what Fangroot grew, not those timid of spirit.
When he came to a standstill, apparently unwinded [hyper little creature], he reached up to tug experimentally at one of her large feathers, wrinkling his nose.
"You don't tell me what to do, y'over-grown songbird!" Despite the casual insult, he didn't seem upset. "Since I'm not going nowhere, you'll take me with you, then?"
Maybe she was going to kill something!

Stonebeak let out an angry screech as the small beast grabbed at her feathers and took a large step to the side.
"No touching!" Careless child fingers were liable to pull out her feathers and hinder her ability to fly!
The harsh tone was reiterated once again as the ferret continued to be insistent. "No!"
Wait.
"Stonebeak will take you back to where you belong. Hold still." She leapt at him then, talons outstretched, beak open to grab. There had to be someone else to dump him off on, and she'd take him to them!

"Hey. HEY!" There was a small, white blur as he dodged, having recognized [as someone who'd been smacked about a bit] the look of imminent action on the raptor's face. Jumping up in excited agitation, he stuck out a paw, pointing accusatorily at her.
"I belong where I say I belong, peanutbrain!" Slapping his paws together to get rid of the dust, he grimaced at her. "You need to be more careful with me, then. I've got nice fur that needs to be maintained!" Honestly.
Stalking about in a circle around her, he tapped his chin with a claw, considering. "You do have a secret, then. What is it? I'm going to tell if you don't let me come!"

The raptor hobbled around after him as he dodged, but on the ground and in the dark, he had a distinct skill advantage when it came to movement.
"Talk, talk, talk!" Stonebeak growled as she turned, following the young, proud-chested rodent as he made his way around her. "All it does is talk!"
It was becoming increasingly clear that the small beast was not leaving. While its threat was poor, its actions were honest, and it appeared to desire to be stuck to Stonebeak like glue.
This would not do.
"You bring her a shiny, magic vile, and she will take you to my secret." If it wasn't on purpose, Stonebeak did not seem to notice her constant switch of pronouns in her speech. "No secrets if you are slow!"
That oughtta get rid of him! Easy as mice-pie.

"No deal, Stonebutt!"
The kit dropped down to all fours, his mouth slightly open in an unpleasant grin as his body began to jump about, side to side, seemingly of its own accord. He was excited!
"I've got a better idea, then! I'll fight you for the secret! If I win, you have to take me!"

Stonebeak gave the small rodent a very long, hard look. He had refused her!
And now he was dancing.
"The rodent thinks it will kill Stonebeak with laughter?" she barked out as the ferret wiggled its way to the left, and then to the right.
"Fight!" she agreed as he exclaimed it. Why, he would lose before she even felt exerted. What a dumb little creature!
Flapping her wings at her side to give her some momentum, she leapt forwards, raking the ground with her talons as she did. HP 18/18 MP 6/6

"Maybe I do, then!"
Apparently encouraged by the laughter, the small creature gave a [borderline] ferocious kit-growl and jumped to the side, lashing out with his tiny claws.

As the heartful ferret lunged towards her, Stonebeak puffed herself up. She was larger, and not as quick, and attempting much dodging would simply have been foolish and would have slowed and worn her out.
It seemed she did not have to.
As the ferret went skittering by, Stonebeak felt no contact with claw or fur, and she watched the creature flail about with little actual aim.
It was enough to cause her to open her beak wide, and let a horrendous shriek of laughter escape. "Miss!" she goaded. "You are clumsy. Go home!" He was growing to be entertaining!

It had seemed like he was going to swipe her right on her stupid wing, but then she puffed up, and it lifted, and he went shooting right past and...
The little fellow came to a skidding halt, his tiny claws digging into the dirt as he panted with anger and embarrassment. Stupid bird!
"I meant to do that, then!"
Flipping his small body around, he snapped his jaws at her.

Stonebeak had likely woken the whole forrest with her heaving laughter by the time the ferret's retort was said. It was hard not to keep laughing as he pulled himself in for another attack.
The laughter changed immediately to a cry of rage.
"You bit me!" she announced as he found the flesh beneath all her feathers. And even more surprising, it hurt! A lot!
She whipped her body around, attempting to dislodge him, but he had a strong grip in his jaw. The only thing to do was to crush him off!
She leapt at the ground with the side of her body that he was positioned on. If he was stunned, perhaps he would let go!

It was a wild sort of aerial flip that the spry little ferret did, managing to get clear as the bird smashed into the ground. A full-on, feral sort of grin was on his face as he skittered back, a weird sort of whining giggle coming from his throat as he circled her again.
"That's what you get, then!" He was almost gleeful.
Time to strike, she was starting to get up, and she was angry! A dart in, with one sharp-clawed small paw.

The ferret struck again, while she was still down. Somewhere in the back of her small bird mind, Stonebeak was in a rage over unfair play.
The large raptor flopped about clumsily as she returned to her feet, but with her wings already outstretched it was easier to return to action once she was upright.
A single hop, using her wings to stay airborn, was all she needed. A taloned foot was outstretched and aimed for the rodent's back; Stonebeak was sure she'd triumph.

A sharp squeal as she pinned him beneath her foot, his body instantly going into panic-mode in response. A pop of his back as he wriggled frantically, rolling over to scratch at her taloned foot.
"Get off, then, y'big bully! I'll kill you dead, I will!"
