This is a private roleplay between Sakngea [audio fiend], Xiu [Honeybii], Jianyu [Kuro-Mizuki] and Yue Lao [face your demons].

Setting:

Jianyu and Yue are enjoying a night of friendship and camaraderie over at the Ichi-Koi, only to be rudely interrupted by a very violent Sakn and a distraught Xiu.

The sky was stained, it would seem, with shades of red and orange that could never be washed away. Sakn had watched the sky bleeding out as he walked towards the city. He fidgeted with his kameez while he walked, unhappy with the way the cold weather forced him to dress in heavier, warmer clothing. He had still insisted on wearing his sampot chang kben though, even if the knee high, cloth pants were not the warmest. His feet were wrapped heavily, but until the snows came, he refused to put on real shoes. And as the boy entered the city, he let his hand drop to his side, resting comfortably on the hilt of the chinese dao in which Hyun Chun resided for the most part. The city was no longer so beautiful and exciting in the redheads eyes, but instead he felt as if every corner and shadow hid thousands of threats and enemies. But he had promised Xiu he would meet the boy for a walk this evening(he had agreed to show because he would not let Xiu walk the streets alone at night), so he ignored the itching in his mind and continued on his way. Very few people were out at night now a days, and those who saw him in the deep, nearly black-green kameez with his sword at his side, slipped away from the green-eyed boy.

The temple was quiet at night, and Sakn stood outside and waited for the young monk to show, and when he did, Sakngea felt his heart do a flip, like it always did these days when Xiu showed up. How disgusting. Do try to reign in these feelings of yours, Sakngea. It was evident that Hyun was in no mood for Xiu and Sakn's antics. She craved blood, and it irritated her that Sakn would not let Xiu walk alone so they could find some legionnaires to fight.

Sakn ignored the nasty words, and gave the smaller boy a kiss after glancing around, and then the two set off into the evening. The walk was calming, and Sakn was still watching as the sky's stained canvas slowly faded to deep blues and blacks. Then, as the stars winked into existence, slowly crossing the darkened sky, Sakn turned his eyes to Xiu and gave him a half-smile, the best he could do when all his nerves were on fire with the urge to fight.

It was strange, because he knew the feeling wasn't his, but Hyun's, yet he felt the need anyway.

"It's a lovely night, isn't it?" he spoke in the lilting tone that indicated Hyun was with him(though he had yet to inform Xiu of exactly what Hyun was), as they passed by closed shops. "Should we get something eat, maybe?" The Ichi-Koi was just up ahead, and there were several reasons to go there. Yue was there, firstly, and Sakn had not seen her since he had come back, and the food was wonderful there as well. But most of all, there may be some b*****d legion members there, and Hyun would be happy with that.

Sakngea barely waited for an answer before clasping Xiu's hand in his and tugging him towards the building, which was still open if the late-night flow of traffic indicated anything. And as they walked closer and closer to the Ichi-Koi, Sakn thought he saw a flash of beads and brunette hair, which made his stomach plummet. Jianyu. Sakn wasn't sure where his feelings stood with the Captain, and he hoped that he had just been seeing things. To meet Jianyu right now could end very badly. "Maybe we should...go somewhere else," Sakn started, turning on his heel to head towards some other direction; any direction except towards Jianyu.

Oh? Who is this Jianyu? Hyun's voice was perked with excitement, she could feel the tension, taste the left over anger and confusion in Sakn's mind when he thought of the other man. Then her voice changed, becoming wicked as she shifted through the boys memories, A Legion member oh? Kekeke. Don't leave, sweets. Turn and say hello to your old friend.

Sakn had a bad feeling about this, but his legs were moving on there own, and he let Xiu go as he walked towards the crowd of people outside the Ichi-Koi. "Is that you, Jianyu?" he asked in his strangely clear voice, and even though he wanted nothing more then to leave, Hyun was feeding the fire in his heart.

This was Jianyu, Jianyu who Xiu was friends with. Who beat him up, who was better then him. A legion member, like that murderer. Rude, pushy, a jerk, cruel like all the Legion were. Jianyu who had tried to stop him from leaving. (Not Jianyu who had fed him and taken care of him after their fight, not Jianyu who had agreed to watch over Xiu.)

Sakngea's fists clenched, but he bit down the rage, if only for the sake of Xiu.

I detest the way you limit yourself for that little brat.

Xiu is not a brat.

Ohohoo. Someone is angry. Why direct it at me when there are plenty of dirty legion scum to turn your rage onto right before you.

It was only after his mother had questioned him thoroughly (for what seemed like the eighteenth time that day) that Jianyu was able to leave his house and make his way towards the home of Yue Lao, his best friend and company for the current evening. Ehuang had been pestering him about bringing Yue over for dinner that week and had, to say the least, not stopped asking until Jianyu had finally thrown up his hands in disgust and agreed to invite her. Considering how Jianyu's affairs had been lately, what with getting stabbed in the side, shot at by an ambush, had a knife pulled him (although Bataar had stepped in to intervene during that particular attack) and had his brother eloping with the innkeeper's sister, it was a wonder Ehuang even let Jianyu out of the house in the first place. However, his mother understood that her son would not let circumstances such as those keep him from what he wanted to do, and had not protested when he told her he was going out.

After spending a few moments at Yue's house, speaking amiably with her mothers, Jianyu escorted his friend towards the center part of town, talking easily with her on the way to the Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar. It had been too long since he had last spent any time with Yue - or at least, any normal, calm time. Their last few encounters, other than the dinner they had attended, had been filled with enough strife to last Jianyu a lifetime. So he was pleased to be able to spend a pleasant evening with his best friend.

"Here's to this night," Jianyu said, once they were sitting. He held up his mug of ale and nodded towards Yue. "And to any other nights that I am lucky to spend with the lovely Yue Lao, connoisseur of fine wines, stargazer of the evening stars, and a helluva grape thrower."

Taking a sip of the ale, Jianyu opened his mouth to say something more when a familiar voice was heard next to his side.

"Is that you, Jianyu?"

He turned, seeing a flash of red hair and a sprinkling of freckles. "Sakngea," he said, mild surprise flitting across his face as he took in the young Noble. A part of him was unsure how exactly to act; their last meeting had ended differently than he had expected, different in a positive way. At least, that was how Jianyu thought. Though he and the redhead were not exactly friends, they were at least acquaintances who were able to deal civilly with one another.

...for the most part, that was. Jianyu turned his chair, glancing up at the Noble. "Ah..." he said, vaguely confused. "Sakngea....how are you? Have you been well?"

Xiu hated the Chinese dao that Sakn carried. He’d never felt such animosity towards an inanimate object, but still he seethed, refusing to walk on the side on Sakn it resided. Xiu had yet to speak on the subject of the horrible sword, but he was going to soon. He loved being with Sakn, but the sword made his belly churn and generally gave him the creeps. It wasn’t like that art the start, but slowly Xiu grew more and more uneasy as he noticed it. Just like he noticed the strange ways Sakn sometimes spoke to him. And Xiu wasn’t stupid enough not to think that the sword MIGHT have something to do with this.

He let it go for now though, running out of the temple to meet Sakn. He basked in his friends affections, receiving the kiss and simply glowing because of it. Xiu would ignore the sword tonight and Sakn‘s weird tone, if only because he wanted to have fun with Sakn. Something that seemed rare nowadays.

With a bright smile, Xiu agreed to dinner, chattering about what the best thing to eat would be. Slyly, he slipped his hand into Sakn’s since it was dark out. To add to the secrecy of the touching, he pressed their hands into the shadow of Sakn’s shirt until their hand holding was hidden from view. Xiu kept this up until the restaurant and even when he was brought to an abrupt halt.

Curiously, Xiu wondered what was making Sakn tense. And then he saw him. Oh, gods. Jianyu. That’s when his hand dropped from Sakn’s. He knew about Jianyu's promise to Sakn, but that didn't make things any better.

“Um, Sakn. Lets go somewhere else. I decided ramen sounds better.” Xiu started to nudge Sakn, trying to get the other boy to move, already feeling a familiar stirring in Sakn. To late though. Sakn was already calling out, drawing Jianyu’s attention. Xiu groaned, his head bumping into Sakn’s arm in exasperation. What now? Gods, now Jianyu was looking at them. This was not good. Xiu wasn’t oblivious to Sakn’s daily emotional upheavals. And he knew that the two where what he considered rivals.

The moment Jianyu spoke, Xiu started to make shut-up-and-ignore-us faces at Jianyu as he continued to push at Sakn. The less talking the better.

We’re leaving. It was nice seeing you Jianyu!” Xiu greeted in a too high voice, trying to stay calm and rational. Two things he’d never been good at.

It was with immense joy that Yue opened her door to Jianyu, welcoming him in. She finished getting ready to leave while her mothers pestered him. Hime-san, her golden lion tamarin, had climbed up in the rafters again, and Yue was throwing pieces of avocado at him to try and force him down. Hime-san was her prize, after winning the fight with Sakn. She had bought him from the black market vendor, and since then they had been inseparable, whether Yue wanted them to be or not. She wasn't angry as she called to him, though; she kept calling up lovingly, which was at odds with the way a piece of avocado smacked him in the forehead and knocked him down, screeching, straight into Yue's waiting arms. Impatiently, while Hime-san was still stunned, she tugged at his hand, eager to have a night out where one of them wasn't in a horrible state. She did a mental survey of herself: the clouded fear was gone, the apprehension over feeling more for him than she should. Instead, she felt calm. Content. Happy, she thought. It felt like nothing could go wrong. Ignoring, perhaps, Hime-san's chitter, that was.

The walk to the Ichi-Koi was uneventful, for which Yue Lao felt immeasurable gratitude. Even the weather seemed to be fine. Yue's step had a bounce in it, her swagger that of a self-satisfied Lunarian who was content to be in the company of her dearest friend. One for whom she had now taken a life, over which she had fought her friends and acquaintances for. It seemed like Yue would do almost anything in the name of protecting his honour. Why was she like that? Yue marvelled at the changes while she had been training as an Academy student: her fighting technique had shifted, and she no longer fought with her fists and tekko alone. Although her first battle with a meteor hammer had left her bruised and bloodied, she had since grown more proficient.

Hime-san sat on their table at the Ichi-koi, grooming himself. "To this night! And to my Fierce warrior," Yue agreed and added, raising her cup of plum wine in celebration. She beamed at Jianyu, but burst into laughter when he complimented her. "Flatterer," she said, with a wink, her sly smile fixed in place. "May I always have Jianyu to stargaze with, and to aspire to match in combat prowess," she added, taking a sip of her wine. Hime-san, as if understanding Yue's admiration of Jianyu, tried to climb up Jianyu's head and peer into his drink, looking as if he intended to dive in.

Yue hadn't noticed Sakn approaching, but Hime-san did; his assault on Jianyu's beverage was cut short by a chittering escape over to Sakn. Hime-san, for some reason, really detested Sakn, and would pick on him constantly. Yue thought back fondly to the first few chaotic days where Sakn was healing, and Hime-san would constantly try to jab at his wounds. Why it was a fond memory, Yue wasn't entirely sure, but it seemed like those days were comparatively care free.

Hime-san stopped. He took a few tiny steps back, wrung his little monkey hands, and darted back up on Yue, hiding behind her braid. "Mister princess, what are you doing? It's just Sakn, isn't it?" And yet Yue was puzzled and concerned. It didn't sound like Sakn, and although it... seemed to be Sakn, what was wrong? Hime-san could tell something Yue herself could not. Sakn was not entirely himself.

"Hey, Sakn! Who's your cute friend? Not Xiu, by any chance?" Yue winked at them. She wondered if this was the Lunarian Sakn seemed to be so close to. Before they had even really arrived, Xiu and Sakn seemed to be heading off again. Hime-san was still hiding behind her braid, refusing to come out, his fluffy orange fur sticking up all over the place. Yue frowned when she realized Sakn and Jianyu might have some kind of conflict. She felt like she hadn't seen Sakn in such a long time, and everything was difficult to grasp, or understand. Her smile faltered slightly as she realized: Tonight isn't going to be easy, is it?

Jianyu's words were strange to Sakn, a part of him saw the sincerity, and another part was filled with anger; saw only a dirty legionnaire. The two feelings attached to this confused Sakn to no end, which only helped to make him angrier and angrier.

As he focused on Jianyu, trying to find something to say, trying to figure out what to say, Sakn registered the chattering of a monkey. His lips turned into a annoyed scowl and his eyes ripped from the Captains to land on Yue. His stomach twisted, and then Hyun's laughter rippled through his mind as she recognized the mixture of feelings that rushed through Sakngea as he looked the magenta-haired girl over, before his eyes landed on Hime-san, that ridiculous, annoying monkey. Usually Sakn could handle animals that he knew, but he had no patience for the golden monkey, and glared daggers at the monkey before his eyes looked down to the ground, unable to keep the monkeys frightened gaze.

How strange, Sakngea. You hate the Legion, I know you do. Yet you keep Legion friends. How strange.

The redhead's stomach twisted, but there was no way to stop Hyun when she had an idea in her head, and the boy gripped tightly on the dao as Yue spoke. Her voice was friendly, like usual, but there was look in her eyes. She could see something was different, she was watching him, like he was someone she didn't know.

She doesn't trust you, sweet. Neither of them do. Look at the way they look at you.

Sakn felt his anger boil over. How could they not trust him? Especially Yue. His eyes looked her over one last time, and he spoke in a tight tone, his words strained as he held back the biting comments that were filling his brain, "Yue," he responded before giving a nod, "Yes, this is Xiu," he had mentioned the smaller noble many times around Yue, but for some reason, now when they finally met, Sakn was not as happy as he had planned to be.

Sakngea's eyes trailed back to Jianyu then, before his heard jerked down to Xiu. All he wanted to do was tell Jianyu off, to say something, to instigate something. The need to fight was pumping through his veins, Hyun's hunger feeding his, and Xiu was insisting they leave. Hyun's irritation for the monk was nearly over powering; the boys eyes dilated slightly in rage. Sakn felt his arm twitch, the barest of motions towards a punch, but he managed to reel himself back in before it was too obvious, pressing down the urge because he promised he wouldn't hurt Xiu. Instead he pulled himself away from Xiu in a fluid step, clearly stating he was not leaving.

His eyes were harder now, the bright green turned a deeper shade. Sakn swallowed the need to just start yelling(just to ease the burning on the back of his neck), and instead took a moment to stare at Jianyu. To read his face. Where there had been some glimmer of something in Jianyu's eyes before, now there was only blank stare that Sakn had seen in that mans eyes, those eyes that didn't care.

Nothing but a Legion dog, I'm afraid. Hyun Chun had a way with her voice, she could burn Sakn with her words; tear him down and make him nothing with a single word. But she could also put him on the highest pedestal; make him feel like a god, she could reassure him of anything. Sakn looked at the Legion captain now as he always should with any Legion dog. He looked down at Jianyu, with eyes threatening on emerald.

"And why would a Legion," he bit back dog, but the insult flashed in his eyes, in the tone of his voice, "Captain care about a Noble like me?" eyes were turning now, people watching as the scene unfolded. Sakn felt drunk on the attention, his master's laughter echoed in his head.

He felt Xiu behind him more then anything, felt the quivering energy, the urge to run, to stop, to not fight. He felt it, and his eyes wavered from Jianyu's for a single moment, starting to glance back to Xiu. To say something to him perhaps.

No. The words were not yelled, but the anger was almost unbearable, like being struck by lightening. His eyes snapped back to Jianyu's with a fiery intensity, but he said nothing more. Perhaps that was the strangest thing of all. Sakngea always had something extra to say.

Something was off - wrong - about Sakngea. His eyes were not the same as they should have been, not filled with the friendly, stubborn mocking they usually held. They were...darker, somehow. Filled with an emotion that Jianyu could not read, and he seemed tenser than he normally would have; on edge, almost jittery.

What...? Jianyu thought, but his attention was momentarily drawn away from the Noble by yet another familiar voice, this one peering around Sakngea with a worried expression, anxiety clearly evident in his voice.

"Ah," said Jianyu, nodding towards the younger boy. "Xiu, it is good to see that you are here with Sakngea. I hope that you are doing well -- "

"And why would a Legion Captain care about a Noble like me?"

The rest of Jianyu's sentence died in his throat, his light, friendly smile freezing in place. The words jolted into him with the force of a javelin, unexpected and colder than ice, dripping with disdain and a loathing that chilled Jianyu to the bone. Every fiber of Saknga's being seemed to radiate with anger, with disgust. Jianyu's eyes moved to glance at the boy standing behind the redhead, at Xiu's pleading, almost desperate face, then slid over to Yue's shocked, angry one before they went back to Sakngea, locking eyes with the other.

Slowly, with an ease clearly evident in his movements, Jianyu stood, turning to face Sakngea. He did not speak for a moment, the tension in the air so thick and so tangible that it almost felt as if one could reach out and cut it with a knife; slice down the center of it, slash it open and let the rapidly rising, churning, stirring emotions overflow, cascade out into the open.

"Forgive me if I care about a Noble such as yourself," Jianyu said coldly, reaching behind him to grasp Yue's wrist, keep her from doing anything rash (he knew her well; besides that, he wanted to make sure she was still there and reassure himself). "But weren't you the one that came crying to me the last time, begging with me, pleading with me to protect Xiu, to protect your loved ones? It seems to me, Sakngea, that you have forgotten your place."

Something was wrong. Something was very wrong, although Jianyu could not seem to put his finger on it. Sakngea, though quite irritable most of the time, was normally hotheaded, loud, brash, and abrasive. But this was different; it was quieter, almost muted, voice filled with contempt rather than mocking irritation. It was...different, but Jianyu could not seem to figure it out.

He tilted his head, curving his body to speak with his best friend. "Yue," he said, his voice still calm, although there was a definite undercurrent of something dangerous, something restraining his anger, his humiliation and shame at being disrespected back. "I apologize for the way our evening together seems to be turning out, had think it best if we were to leave."

Jianyu nodded at Xiu before turning his lethal gaze back to Sakngea and adding "I would not want our night tainted by such as these."

Things were starting to unravel more quickly than Xiu had anticipated. Sakn had ignored him, wholly and completely. It left Xiu with this aching hurt in his chest that he couldn’t just be brushed off. Normally Sakn was so attentive. Not only to him, but to the people around him. This new Sakn was frightening and Xiu he had to do something before all hell broke loose. He didn’t think it was going to happen. He knew. And Jianyu wasn’t helping to stave off the inevitable either, what with his harsh words. Couldn’t the Captain see that there was something terribly wrong? Whether Jianyu could or not, Xiu already could feel the beginnings of something bad.

His eyes drifted to Yue and her pet monkey. He’d have liked to meet her under better circumstances, because now he was only able to offer a small smile as Sakn and Jianyu continued to bicker. He had known the two to fight, Sakn having reveled him stories, but he was also assured that there was some kind of companionship between the two. Of course now, he was just afraid and anxious as he watched events unfold.

“Sakn! Don’t say such things to Jianyu. You two are friends, remember?” Xiu desperately tried, hoping his words would somehow break the violence in Sakn voice somehow. He had little faith though. Xiu was nothing specially, merely a hack dead soul conduit who couldn’t even help his best friend. Sakn was neck deep in something unexplainable, Xiu was sure of it. If only he knew what to do!

Jianyu was leaving now, which should have been a relief, but the Captain’s sneering face said differently. Xiu tensed, watching the man walk by and call Yue to heel. He couldn’t practically feel the anger vibrating off of Sakn now. Terrified the Sakn would actually pursue Jianyu, Xiu finally flung himself about Sakn’s waist in a pretend hug while praying he could hold the redhead back if he decided to attack or something.

Gods, just go already Jianyu!” Xiu commanded. Jianyu always did have to have the last word on things. Xiu only hoped he wouldn’t regret them later.

Her initial suspicion appeared to be accurate. She should have known, by the way the evening was going so smoothly, that something would have to ruin a simple night out with Jianyu. "We're just not meant to relax, are we?" She sighed under her breath at Jianyu, reaching over and finding his hand with hers to squeeze it in a friendly way. As if to say, Well, here it goes again, but I've still got your back. She tilted her head and tried to smile at Sakn, but his clipped tone had completely thrown her off balance. This quiet anger was not something she was used to. With Sakn, she had always found it refreshing that if he was angry with her he'd get it over with and express himself openly. This new stance... he seemed to be reserving it. Holding on to some grievance.

Yue Lao's body shifted positions. She seemed as though she would dart in front of Jianyu if need be, which made no combat sense given Jianyu's obviously much higher skill level. That was the instinct of a best friend, not a combat partner. She relaxed, shifted back to standing normally, hoping the situation could still be diffused. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Xiu," she said, addressing him first. She took a deep, even breath, petting Hime-san's fluffy coat as he chittered beside her, tugging on her braid and pointing at Sakn. When he insulted Jianyu, Yue's skin raised in chills. Something was clearly not right about Sakn. He was not the Lunarian she'd grown to care for, not the one she'd fought with and laughed with. Brawls, arguments, jokes... his face, even, seemed unfamiliar in its harsh set. She felt Jianyu's reassuring grasp on her wrist, reached her free hand over and pressed it against his hand. She was grateful for his calm attitude, but at the same time, it meant she could feel the full effect of her anger at Jianyu being insulted. It was the same way Sakn had provoked her at their last fight, however. She took a deep breath and added to the end of Jianyu's statement, "Sakn, you don't need to start this...No matter the grievance you have with Jianyu; you know I can't let you say such things about him," she said.

Hime-san screeched at Sakn, darting onto the table and picking up food, throwing it at Sakn. "Hime-san! Get back up here," Yue pointed at her shoulder. The little golden monkey didn't listen at first, then darted up and onto her head, perching there, huffing, his tiny sharp teeth bared. "Jianyu...I think you're right, for once. Time to go while the going's still possible," Yue added with a sigh, her shoulders sagging.

It hurt her to see Xiu try to hold Sakn. She was afraid for his safety, for a moment, this stranger she didn't know. But Yue's loyalty was to Jianyu, and she couldn't afford to try to pry Xiu off Sakn. "Please take care, Xiu. I'm not sure that's such a good idea, at the moment," she said. Hime-san chittered his agreement and pulled some of Yue's hair in excited anger, making her wince. She turned her feet, positioned to leave, but hesitated. Something about the way Sakn was behaving, she was loathe to give him her back. Her face was still flushed with anger over the insult to Jianyu, but she was also distraught that Sakn was behaving so strangely. Was he tired, sick, what?...
PostPosted: Thu Jan 20, 2011 12:04 pm

Jianyu's barbed response bit into Sakngea's skin like the fangs of a snake, poison and cruelty bleeding into his veins. His heart doubled in it's beating, and the country boy's face turned a new shade of scarlet in his anger. His mouth opened, words ready to be spit out. How dare Jianyu speak to him as such! How dare that b*****d bring up such broken memories.

It seems the Legion cruelty knows no bounds, hmm?

Those words left an ache in the redhead's heart. Had those moments, when Jianyu showed him kindness...had they all been fake? It would seem as such, what with the way the brunette was so quick to use bitter words. Sakngea looked at Jianyu then, glared at him, words building and building in his chest. The ache became a sting, the sadness of being tricked only mutated into more rage. Sakn clenched his fist and moved forward, words spilling out in a low unintelligable growl as he moved to hit Jianyu, square in the face. Square in his taunting, fake Legion fac--

Smack.

For a moment, his expression was near comical. Sakn had not expected to have food thrown at him, and the whole childish act was so off from the rest of the scene around him. He blinked several times, unsure how to react.

Are you going to just stand there like an idiot, boy? Move damn it!

The harshness of Hyun's words, mixed with the sting of pain that came with them, helped to pull Sakn out of his shock, but gave him a single moment of clarity, as well. Yue's plea rang through his head, sharp and clear, and Xiu's words added to the feeling of wrongness. Like what he was doing right now wasn't right. Like he shouldn't be mad at Jianyu. Like Hyun was tricking him.

"What will you do, Yue? Will you stop me?" the words were less of a threat, and almost a plea. As if there was a part of Sakngea that wanted nothing to do with this. A part of him that questioned his master's sanity--

DO YOU DARE QUESTION ME? The redhead felt near-crippled by the scream in his mind, his knees buckling ever so slightly under the force of Hyun's anger. But perhaps it was good he angered her, for now his own rage was restored, fed by his masters. And when Jianyu gave his parting insult, it was not a calm Sakngea who heard it, but the bitter monster he had become.

"How dare you," the redhead snarled, eyes flashing dangerously. "How dare you say anything," the words mattered little, but it was the tone that was most dangerous. It was cold, silent and sharp as a knife. It was a tone that threatened death, promised pain and hurt.

Sakn moved to attack again, his anger double-fold, but was once again stopped. Xiu had thrown himself around the boy's waist, and had even dared to yell at Jianyu. The redhead looked startled, and his hands, clenched into fists, eased for a moment to let fingers glide against Xiu's cheek as the boy pressed his face against Sakn's body. This is wrong. He shouldn't have to be here.

He is a fool then, for not leaving. Do not be distracted, Sakngea. If you are distracted, evil may slip by and kill those you wish to protect. Her words were like silk now, easing through Sakn's mind, coercing him, convincing him.

And convince him they did. He couldn't let Jianyu leave, nor Yue for that matter. Both of them were Legion, members of a side who fed off death and suffering. Cared not for anyone but themselves. So Sakn's fingers slipped from Xiu's face, and he pushed the boy off him. Not hard, but enough to let Xiu know that nothing could be changed here. Then he stepped forward, reaching out until his hands twisted in Jianyu's shirt.

"You would do best, dog," it slipped out before he could stop it, "to take your insults back."

Though, he knew, and hoped, the Captain wouldn't. Hyun's hunger for a fight was strong, making Sakn eager as well.

"Sorry, Xiu," Jianyu said, voice snapping through the air. Although he was talking to the young monk, his eyes never left Sakngea's face, anger and humiliation etched deeply into his own. The idea of being disrespected by the redhead after everything that had gone on between them made Jianyu irrationally infuriated, a hot flush of shame crossing his cheeks. He had believed that Sakngea and he were learning to deal with one another, to get along and to tolerate each other; even learning to be friends. That night Sakngea had come over to beg for help had changed things. Or at least, that's what Jianyu had thought.

Apparently I was wrong. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, Xiu," Jianyu said coolly, still leveling a defiant look at the redheaded Noble. Yue's hand felt warm against his own, reminding him that she was still here and that he needed to protect her if anything happened. He did not want for anything to happen; but if it came down to it...he squeezed her fingers reassuringly, stepping around Sakngea and Xiu, towards the door. Yue's monkey, however, seemed to have a different opinion, however, and darted from her shoulder, skipping along the tables to scoop up a handful of food. With a resounding smack, the pile of vegetables hit the redhead in the face. Sakngea stood there for a moment, looking shell shocked, but his expression rapidly changed to one of absolute fury.

Something is wrong.

Within a few seconds, Jianyu felt fingers grip the front of his shirt, yanking him forward. Sakngea's voice was low, hatred pulsing through each word. Jianyu felt a slow smirk cross his face and he let go of Yue's hand, pushing her gently to the side, out of the way.

"And you, little boy, would do well to not attack your seniors."

Seizing Sakngea's wrist, Jianyu's other hand shot out, palm of his hand pressing against the other's stomach while the hand that held Sakngea's arm twisted - hard. Thrusting his leg forward simultaneously, Jianyu slid sharply to the left, flipping Sakngea easily onto his back. One foot stepped over him, boot pressed against the side of the redhead's face as Jianyu knelt down above him, fingers pressed lightly against the Noble's chest.

"b*****d," he hissed, the smirk disappearing into an expression of anger. "Don't touch me unless you're prepared to get an arrow through your heart, and I don't want to do that to you. So get. Out. And leave us be."

Something is very...very...wrong.
