Do you guys remeber in Order of the Phoenix when the order is helping clean out Grimmauld Place? Well, I just (randomly) looked there, and I noticed that they threw out an "unopened locket". Hmm...could this possibly be the REAL Horcrux that Regulus tried to destroy? (Assuming, of course, that R.A.B. is really Regulus Black...) (So now Harry has to go to the dump to find it...hahaha i'm just kidding with that...)
Tell me what you think! PMs are welcome! 4laugh

Probably. And Kreacher probably stole it and still has it, or he knows where it is.

Friends of mine and I have discussed the same theory, and it seems sound for the time being. I also agree that it likely hasn't been thrown out; they may have to search throughout the house, or track down Kreacher, but they will find in in the next book.
A different theory I've heard some talk on is whether or not Harry himself is a horcrux, Voldemort's last, which could account for the connection that the two share.

Good theory. I agree that kreacher probobly took it and it is in his little "nest". That is a small detail, though; Harry is not likely to remember it.

Here's betting it will mean something to the plot if it's not a horcrux - OR Jo is trying to mislead us. That detail was obviously thrown in intentionally.

I've thought so as well, and it makes sense, as I believe that Rowling wants us to know who R.A.B. is, and I believe that R.A.B. is Regulus.
However, I wouldn't be disappointed if Harry assumes the locket destroyed and we never hear about it again. After all, we've got only one book left and an awful lot of ground to cover. I'd just as soon leave that loose end hanging if it means we have more time (or more pages, as it were) for other explanations.

Yeah! Book 5, page 116, bottom paragraph! biggrin . . . I, heh, memorized that paragraph. sweatdrop But I have an odd feeling that not Kreacher, but Mundungus took it along with the silver goblet and sold it BACK to Borgin and Burkes. . . maybe.
