She had been looking for him since the day they parted. It had been easier then, for some reason, to find him and watch him, take notes on how he worked, but then he seemed to vanish from her radar, and she had to work harder to find him again.

She was very surprised when she did, not sure what had changed or why he had suddenly appeared in run down buildings, and looking like he was not eating right. She wasn't sure she liked it, but she didn't think it meant their pact was off: whatever he was doing, he was still a target and she owed him a good trap.

So she set about making something nice for him. She cooked, actually cooked at her house, a nice dinner for him. One that had a deep, robust aroma that would carry in the still air of, say, a run down building downtown. She set it up on a counter, with a little note on it, which he would have to get over close to pick up to read. It had a sticker of a glittery guitar on it.

So he knew it was for him.

Someone looking out for him, clearly. And in a way, she was: she certainly would let him eat the food, once she had caught him. She even brought extra in tupperware, just in case the stuff she set out got thrown around in her effort to trap him. It was strange the things Painite did plan for, as opposed to the things she didn't, but if she actually paused to think about it it would probably blow her mind.

She had opted to rig a rope shooter for this attempt at a trap. This one was rigged to her trusty tripwire system, but instead of releasing a net down, or pulling a net up, it shot a weight rope from what really looked like a small canon she had built after watching Mythbusters. The rope was attached to heavy balls on each end, which would help them fly and catch, and wrap around, their target.

She hoped. She had it aimed, but she didn't want to risk setting it off, just in case it was one of those traps that only worked once. She had... a few of those in her past.

So she lay in wait, sitting next to the canon in its hiding place, just in case the trip wire failed. She was powered down, also just in case. She was pretty sure she had seen him come into this building more than once, so she had to hope that he would come back to it again. Or she was going to be waiting for a very long time.

But hey, if a bum smelled the food and came in, she could at least get some energy out of the deal.

Despite all the planning that had gone into this, there was one thing she hadn't planned for. What if Scheelite was already inside the buiilding? She had seen him come in and out of this building before, and the main reason for that was it was his 'main' hideout. He had a few, and switched between them to throw off anyone tracking him. Or ty to, at least, it seemed he hadn't been able to throw her off as well as others.

It was harder to spot him during the day, and the reason for this was Demetri Wright had all but disappeared off the radar. Daytime was sleeptime in his book, a time spent passed out in his spot for the day and dreaming of a better place. A day when the world would make sense again. It'd come...eventually. This particular building held a lot of nook and crannies perfect for the blonde to curl up in and hide from the rest of the world. Evenually though he was going to have to remember to find some damn blankets or something. Abandoned buildings didn't offer much in the way of heat.

The first sign that something was off about her plan was a bit of rustling heard from further inside the building. Demy was finally waking up from his daytime sleep, and was slowly gathering up his things. He wasn't so sure if tonight was going to be a move night or not, but he did like to be prepared just in case. It was only when he, stretching and yawning the whole while, walked into the next room that he noticed something was a bit off.

After all, where was that delicious smell coming from? And...oh man what was that?! It looked shiny! He liked shiny things! Looking a bit delighted in his tiredness the blonde quickly skittered over towards the card to read it.

..Okay, so it wasn't Scheelite like she had planned for. ...at least not exactly. That mop of hair and those acid eyes looked rather familiar though...

That was certainly not something Painite had planned for. In her head, Scheelite would come into the building, though she had tried to account for any entrance. The idea that he was already there had not occurred to her even slightly, and she was surprised when someone came over from another area in the building that she hadn't accounted for.

She covered her mouth, hoping she was absolutely hidden. From that angle, he might spot her, though it seemed he was drawn to the card. That, at least, was good, though she didn't recognize him as Scheelite.

But, as she had decided before, any capture was a good one.

And he did look familiar...

As he drew closer to the trap, she tensed, watching intently. If the trip wire failed she was ready, though just touching the canon might throw it off its course. No, she had to stay focused. Things would work out well.

The trip wire pulled and the canon, since that was what she was calling it, fire its weighted down ropes. She watched eagerly, though she had let out a bit of a yelp in surprise at the sound. Since she hadn't shot it before, she was caught off guard by how loud it was.

Both the sound of the cannon itself and the yelp of surprise from it's creator caused the blonde to turn and look in that direction. He had but a moment to wonder 'what the <********>' before weighted ropes fell on him.

Well...wasn't this familiar.

The surprise and the added weight knocked him to the ground, and for a moment the stranger flailed around in the ropes seemingly caught. In the next moment a much more familiar outfit had shifted onto the stranger, and said stranger had blipped out of existence.

He reappeared soon enough, on the other side of the room and not exactly that happy about it.

"Painite?! Are you here? How the hell did you FIND me?"
Scheelite ranted aloud, strolling back towards the middle of the room but scanning everywhere to see if he could spot her before some other trap came flying his way.

Gently, still not powered up, hid next to the canon, though she knew that was the least effective place for her to be hiding. She had, after all, just fired it, and he would be able to put together where the ropes had come from. So! She had managed to catch him in his civilian form! She supposed that made sense: she didn't walk around in her uniform all the time, so she didn't imagine anyone else would.

She powered up, summoning Mr. Saddles just in case she might need his help, as Scheelite looked rather mad about being found, before she stepped out from her shadowy hiding place.

"I told you I would find you, didn't I? And you made it harder, by not wanting to get caught!" She couldn't help but taunt a little. It was in her nature, in a way. It wasn't exactly mean spirited, as her tone was light and she seemed to be honestly enjoying herself, but in her mind it was all a game. A challenge. They both had agreed to the rules, and she had done nothing wrong in surprising him.

She was having fun, and being serious about it at the same time.

She held Mr. Saddles up in front of her, watching him.

"You look a mess. Are you taking care of yourself? I think you're lucky I found you!"

Scheelite was flustered, and grouchy and seriously reconsidering his decision to get up and do things today. Maybe he should have just stayed in 'bed' as it were. Then he wouldn't have thoughts of murder running through his head as he stared at Painite. His lip curled as she mentioned him not wanting to be found. Of COURSE he didn't really want to be found, that was why he ran away. Funny how people didn't seem to get that, considering how many run in's he had while he was mia.

The last statement seemed to calm him, just slightly. That coupled with the fact his mind was screaming at him FRIEND, THIS IS A -FRIEND- he slowly, ever so slowly, pulled himself out of full on attack mode.

He did, however, summon his guitar to his hands to counter her having Mr Saddles right in front of her. He might have been a bit calmer, but he still wasn't in that same good mood she had first met him in.

"I'm taking care of myself...are you?"
The captain advanced just a bit. Predator like, really. Just because his mind was screaming she was a friend didn't mean he couldn't give her a little lesson in respecting your higher ups right? ESPECIALLY when they didn't particularly want to be found.

Painite was slow to realize that she had stepped into something bigger than the game they had agreed on. The fact that he had not wanted to be found at first made her pride swell: she had got him anyway! That was good. That was very good. She was getting better at hunting, and her traps were spot on!

Okay, spot on was an exaggeration, but in the end it had worked and that was the important thing.

But his difference in attitude did alert her to trouble, and she gripped Mr. Saddles a bit tighter. She watched him, swallowing hard, but holding her ground. She couldn't help it, she was in the middle of things now. This was part of the game, wasn't it? And even if it wasn't, she couldn't exactly run away now.

"Well, I thought I was taking care of myself. Until, honestly, right now. But hey, here we are." She grinned, chuckling, trying to stay positive. But she felt a shudder creep through her, and she stayed on her toes, particularly as he drew closer.

This probably wasn't going to go as well as she had planned.

"I did say I would find you and catch you, though. And I don't make promises I don't intend to keep."

"I promised to make it difficult to catch me, didn't I? Well consider this part of the test! You found me...serious congrats on that alone, guess I'm gonna need to change buildings... but traps can only get you so far. What if your prey gets out of your trap, and then is suddenly..I dunno........"

He charged forward then, getting really close to shout the words "IN YOUR FACE" before teleporting once more and ending up behind her.

...Oh god, he quickly realized just why he shouldn't teleport twice in a short amount of time. When he blipped back into existance behind her the blonde was panting hard, leaning on his guitar for support. He almost looked like he could cry...

Shaking his head, the captain straightened back up and watched for her next move.

"Sparring, you and me. What do you say Painite? I could use the interaction with someone..."

Painite watched him closely, tense, not wanting to drop her guard for anything. Yes, she was proud of herself and riding high on that, and yes she felt like they were friends and whatever happened their rivalry would at least remain intact, it was just up in the air as to what kind of rivalry it might be. If he was mad with her, or if he was impressed.

She hoped it was the latter, as she was always game for people taking notice of her.

When he started to ask her about her prey getting out of her traps she immediately donned a very cocky expression, waving her hand only to let out an eep that was far less confident than the witty come back she had been planning on delivering. She hadn't expected him to run at her, much less teleport at the last moment. Mr. Saddles was gripped so tightly in her hands that her knuckles were white, and she leaped/stumbled back from him while simultaneously whirling around.

"You... want to spar?" She eyed him, not sure he was up to, but then she grinned. "Well, I can't say no to a challenge!" She looked at Mr. Saddles for approval, though it, as always, was silent. And silence she generally took as a yes. So she did the sensible thing anyone did to a Captain challenging them to a spar: she swung her hobby horse at him.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 07, 2011 10:01 am

"Yep! Want to spar! Let's go!"

Scheelite stood still, watching and waiting to see what her first move would be. It was a predictable one, and the captain shot out one gloves hand to simply catch the hobby horse as it swung at him. He still grunted at the impact, but he had stopped the attack from hitting him full on.

"Sorry Painite, too predictable and just not quick enough!"

The blonde released his hold, taking steps a few feet away and waiting again. Seems he was giving her another chance to land an attack on him before retaliating. At least no one could say he wasn't generous!

Sometimes Painite really wished Mr. Saddles had some kind of surprise ability. A little arm that folded out and stabbed at people when they caught it, for instance. A shock system, like she remembered his guitar had. Radioactive splinters. Something. But she couldn't fault the hobby horse itself, and took pride in the ways she had made it become useful.

As a bludgeon, however, she hadn't quite perfected its use.

"Hey!"

She puffed, not so much embarrassed as eager to prove him wrong. If she was predictable then maybe she could use that to her advantage and prove herself exactly the opposite. Yeah! She didn't know how yet, but her mind was already working on it, turning everything over. She watched him, tense, gripping Mr. Saddles in both hands now that he had let go of it.

A second turn, huh?

"Alright!" She said, running at him with her shoulder forward like she was going to tackle him in an imitation of a line backer. Not that she watched American football. Or any other kind. Still, she charged, only to pull herself down and thrust Mr Saddles forward once she was close enough, this time with the stick end pointing out like a very blunt sword or lance.
