Magical Girl

PostPosted: Mon Jan 03, 2011 7:43 pm

It was pretty much a normal night at the Nimmba house, well at least it seemed that way. Mrs Nimmba had just sucked in her youngest daughter and was heading to bed herself. She stopped at the entrance to Tali’s room; the frame of her eldest could be made out under the blankets. Tali went to bed early complaining about a headache so she wanted to check in on her but seeing as she appeared to be asleep she slowly shut the door, being careful not to let it make a noise which would wake her up. Footsteps could be heard down the hall, finally disappearing as her mother shut her own bedroom door. For a moment the house was in total darkness, silence dominant in all the rooms. However this was not the case for very long.

As soon as the coast was clear Tali leaned over, flicking on her bed side lamp. A wide smirk painted across her face. The teenager got out of bed and in quite a swift motion removed her dressing gown to reveal the fact she was totally dressed. She came up early to get ready because she had no intention of having a quiet night in. She was wearing one of her usual costumes, despite the fact that Tali acted like one of those stuck up popular girls she was really into the alternative fashion trend. She liked to stand out and besides she was never one to really go with what everyone else was wearing these days. The way she saw it the more she stood out the better, who would want to be like everyone else anyways?

Wondering over to her mirror she put the final touches on her make-up and put the two usual pigtails on the top of her head, she posed for a second and then decided it was about time she made her exit. She opened her window carefully; her room was on the second floor however it was not that difficult to escape from due to the fact the garage was directed straight under it. Besides she was a Lieutenant now. One thing she had noticed after her joining was the fact that her physical capabilities had increased. Tasks that she previously saw as difficult were no longer daunting and that was just fine by her. She always craved power to be something more and the Negaverse had helped satisfy that void. However now she wanted more, she wanted to make her way through the ranks. She had her work cut out for her however she was too knuckleheaded to not achieve her goals; to her it was only a matter of time.

Another notable change in her was her mentality, before she was just human. Even though she was in fact quite new to the job she no longer saw herself as just Tali. She was also Trona, Trona did not need a curfew, Trona did not need to play by the rules. No one could tell her what to do anymore. If she could be expected to go out into battle most nights she sure as hell could control her own life. Tali had always been stubborn headed; she had always thought very highly of herself but only acted up on occasion, now it was like consequences or danger did not really matter to her anymore. She wanted to go out tonight and she was sure as hell going to do it! Her parents would never know anyway.

She looked back for a moment to make sure no one was watching her and then made a jump out her window, gently landing on the roof of the garage. She then wondered to the edge and carefully lowered herself onto the drive. She was free! She smirked and quickly made her exit, the sound of heels clanging against the floor. She was heading towards a fairly new club in the downtown area. She was not meeting up with anyone however that was the fun, who knew who she would meet or how the day would unfold. She was being reckless; it was hard to get your rushes when you had an alter ego by night. So she had to do more outlandish things to get the adrenaline she craved.

She got into the bar with no problem, she looked older than she was anyway, that with the fake ID her friend had gifted her for her birthday made the doors a very easy task. Wondering down onto the lower level she scanned the crowed, she was not a huge fan of pop music, or rave however sometimes you had to put up with things to meet people. Putting a hand on the bar she ordered her first drink of the night, a smile painted on her glossy lips. She had a good feeling, her plan had worked and all was well with the world. She laced her fingers against the cold glass and took a sip, candy coloured eyes scanning for anything... interesting.

While Talim Nimmba lived with her parents, Hayden did not. It was not that she disliked her family—she deeply cared for them despite their helicopter ways—but that a strong, steady record of skipping class, poor grades, and a few misdemeanors had landed her smack dab in the middle of St. Magadalena’s Seminary, where all its students lived in dormitories. She theorized that this was supposed to make it easier for staff to monitor the girls, but some staff just weren’t as concerned as they should be or some staff just weren’t as smart as they could be.

Which made sneaking off campus during the middle of the night so much easier than the school wanted it to be.

Normally, Hayden preferred to stay within the confines of her warm room and idly conversing with her roommate. Those nights were often slow as she lazily skimmed through her notes or scribbled down half-baked answers on her worksheets. It was relaxing to be able to kick back and take it easy, but sometimes she felt like being daring or whimsically run off campus so she could idly stroll around town.

“Hayden, did you hear? There’s supposed to be a new band playing at the club,” her roommate gossiped, grinning as she eagerly searched through her closet for a suitable outfit. “It has your friend, right? Alex?”

Mint-green eyes glanced up at the other girl, the owner grinning as she affirmed, “Yeah. Alex said he wanted to make a band, though I never realized he’d have the guts to actually do it.” Hayden silently watched her roommate hastily slip into a tank top and shrug on a hoodie. “Heh. Maybe I’ll join you.” She happily slammed shut her notebook, worn from abuse yet filled with neat handwriting.

“Need your ID,” her roommate stated matter-of-factly. “Where is it?”

Hayden leaned over to slap her hand on the fake identification card laying on her nightstand, smirking as she slid it off the table to reveal it to the other girl. Satisfied with her answer, she slipped out of bed and over to her suitcase. She had never bothered to neatly arrange her clothes into the provided closet. Quickly Hayden glanced down at her current outfit, satisfied with her sleeveless v-neck and long jeans. She rummaged through her pile for a jacket, zipping it up half-way. “Usual club, correct?” she confirmed.

Her roommate silently nodded her head as she stuck a leg out of their window. Years of experience allowed both girls to mutely slip out of their rooms. It was nice to have a room on the first floor.

“Is Alex any good?” inquired Hayden’s friend, her heels clacking against the cement.

“His guitar skills aren’t bad. Singing is pretty good,” she curtly replied, footsteps quiet.

Afterwards the conversation fell flat. Although roommates, they were not the closest of friends. Hayden was far too much of a troublemaker and joker to stand her roommates girly and romantic tendencies for more than a few hours. The two girls walked through the night, occasional lamp posts illuminating a trail to their destination. It was neither comfortable nor awkward.

Once the pair flashed their cards at the employee guarding the front door they immediately parted their ways. Her roommate dove into the crowd of wildly dancing people while Hayden glided over to the bar. Pulling one of her small braids behind her ear, Hayden glanced at the front of the room and watched her friend finish up a song.

The bartender handed her a drink and she quietly sipped, eyes blankly staring at the boy moving across the stage. Hayden seemed unimpressed, but kept analyzing his movements, the lyrics and the flow of beats. Although chaotic and rough, she figured that practice would smooth out their music and that practice would strengthen his voice. If he wanted it strong enough perhaps he could go somewhere. If he wanted it enough, anyways.

Hayden continued sipping her drink, letting its sweet taste fill her mouth and the alcoholic begin to slowly dull her senses. She grinned at the thought. Nothing like breaking the rules.

She leaned back against the counter, elbows on the table and her legs crossed as she stared out at the dance floor. Somehow within the squirming mass of dancers Hayden vaguely spotted her roommate, but did not call out to her. Hayden decided to look to her left and right, looking for someone interesting to converse with.

“Haven’t seen you before. How’re you?” Hayden inquired with a grin, spotting a young woman with long black hair and pigtails dyed pink at the tips. An interesting combination, and the dye reminded her of Chase’s own hair streaks. Heh.

Magical Girl

Tali’s pink eyes wondered to the side to see the girl who was hanging around next to her, it seems like she was being addressed. She scanned the girl but for the moment reserved judgement, Tali had the awful habit of making up her mind about the person in the first 20 seconds on their meeting. So if this girl was going to stick around she better make a hell of impression, she had no interest in getting to know another person who was simply not interesting enough to know. Her eyes closed slightly, looking at her through slits she leaned over her way giving the mint eyed girl a small smirk.

“I guess you can say I am new to this particular place. Although it is yet to live up to my expectations just another bar.” She was not going to sugar coat it, she wanted to have fun tonight, and she was on the lookout for some way to get a buzz. She did not expect herself to stay long; she was far too easily bored. However if a better offer came up she would take it. She flicked long black strands of hair behind her shoulder as her gaze went to the dance floor. She was not much of a dancer unless it was with someone particularly good looking. Everyone here was average at most, no one up to her high standards anyway. Tali held herself very highly, very high indeed.

“I am fine, even though the band is not really the cream on the milk I am sure the alcohol will soon make them sound better. How are you?” The girls question was odd, asking how she was instead of who she was. She could not help but return the question. Finishing her drink she put it down and moved a little closer to the other girl. Maybe she would be able to keep her attention for a little while. It was all down to her how long that was. “I am Tali, you seem to be the only thing here that seems worth paying attention to at the moment, surly you can make things more entertaining cant you?”

It was inevitable that people judged others by appearance, whether it be by their clothing, their movements, or their ethnicity. Hayden was the same, but always kept herself open to the idea that there was something more underneath the person in front of her. Humans were multi-faceted beings and sometimes even her friends surprised her—for better or worse. As the other girl smirked Hayden continued to smile with ease, her expression a careful balance of interest and disinterest. Being eager was good, but being too eager was bad. Balance, it was all about juggling the right amount of each.

She chuckled. “May I assume that you’ve attempted to chat up the regulars here?” Hayden replied, perking an eyebrow. “If you don’t like the music, then the dancing just isn’t as fun, so then this place is really only good for its drinks and flings.” The girl knowingly smiled as she brought up her glass for another sip, eyes gleaming as she truthfully spoke from experience. Afterwards she remained quiet, mint green eyes carefully examining Tali as she flicked her gaze back to the mass of dancers squirming and twisting. There was something about the way the girl with pink highlights quietly carried herself, as if she was of a superior breed then everyone else around her.

Another quiet chuckle.

“I wholeheartedly agree, but I’m sure they’ll sincerely improve with time. At least the music is not trash,” agreed Hayden. She could not hold back her amused laugh. It seemed that the St. Magdalena student had hit the mark when she noted Tali’s prideful mannerisms. “I’m honored that I am so worthy of your attention.” Whether she was being honest or teasing was anyone’s guess. “My name is Hayden, and it’s a pleasure to meet your acquaintance.”

She continued to grin, a glass lightly gripped in one hand while the other brushed away one of her thin braids. “Entertaining? There are multiple ways I could entertain you, depending on your preferences. I will assume that you do not want to talk about complicated subjects such as politics or philosophy nor shallow news like celebrity gossip.” Casually, Hayden reached behind Tali’s ear to reveal a shining silver quarter. “I’m rather good at magic tricks, though.” She grinned, never uttering the last option that crossed her mind.
