This is a battle with a double purpose. The first, and largest, is simply to give Eko time to get a feel for his character as well as for me to see how Eko's style in roleplaying is (I haven't seen anything yet of it.) The battle is between Eko and Vaylin, and will take place in a large open field with a forest off to one side and a lake off to the other. Basically it is a shrunk version of the area of Ama Fields, Linkton Forest, and Lake Angelous. It is not a fight to the death, but who know! With the announcer now afoot again (yes, I'm watching for you *shifty eyes*) The world may get flipped upside down while I'm not looking >.>

"How did I get myself into this... if Faith hears about this she's going to kill me." Vaylin mumbled as he made his way through the arena door into the large and very open space in front of him. How the arena individuals managed to do this was lost to Vaylin, but it didn't really matter to him as he looked about for his opponent, a challenger who had yet to appear. Vaylin's wings stretched out behind him as he looked about the field, flowers covering most of it, before he turned his eyes to the sky again. It was a good day for a fight, actually. Vaylin let out a sigh as he stretched with his wings, preparing for a good fight. He had heard his foe was of a unique race, which could prove all the more interesting in this fight.

"Well, here we go I suppose." Vaylin whispered as he flicked his hands outward, two balls of light flashing from his hand and floating in the air about him as he did so. Vaylin put his hands in the white trench coat he wore as he closed his eyes and relaxed for a moment. He wouldn't have brought the coat if not for it's own special properties, after all it was a nice warm day and there was really no need for a coat at all, let alone a trench coat. Vaylin had a feeling he would end up discarding the coat as soon as the fight started, but having it in the area would serve its own purpose. The orbs of light circling Vaylin slowed down as he opened his eyes and took a seat in the field, awaiting the arrival of his opponent.

Eko ruffled his coat together, sighing as he walked out the gates into the battlefield. He gazed about looking at his surroundings. A lake and a forrest. That's good for tactical maneuvers. He pulled off his cloak and grunted as he stretched his massive wings to ease the cramping. It was good to let loose again. The wings flapped for a moment, sending a huge gust everywhere. They were good.
Apparently Eko would be facing an Angel. Interesting. It reminded him of his time in Flandor. After this though, he would be on the job again, this time helping refugees cross the desert to some city.
He could see his opponent now, looking up into the sky. Eko drew his obsurdly large two handed sword and shot into the sky. He aimed downward and began his air assault, going fast enough so that his foe could not distinquish any physical features.
"Ha." he yelled, swinging his sword and shooting off for a hit and run style first strike. He turned around to do it again.

Vaylin had allowed himself to relax and get a good feeling of the area, or rather the air. Vaylin's attention wasn't even focused on his opponent, whom he had barely notice enter a short time ago. Vaylin closed his eyes as he let out a sigh, opening them a moment later as he felt a change in the air, it had moved far too quickly for his liking. Sure enough, Vaylin's concern had been well founded for descending down upon him was a being who wings were quite larger than Vaylin's own, and it wasn't like Vaylin was a kid either. His wings were that of a grown adults wings. The fact that whatever this thing was had larger wings instantly took out Vaylin's first assumption of it being an Angel.

Vaylin grunted as he rolled backwards, the two orbs of light following the motion with almost a lazy pace. Vaylin's wings snapped out as he stood up fully, his eyes watching the figure dart away with surprising speed for one so hindered by large wings. "Well aren't you surprisingly nimble." Vaylin muttered as he crouched on the ground. The 'thing' was coming back, which meant it was probably preparing for another speedy strike again. Vaylin smirked as his hands took ahold of the two balls of light. With a momentary flash, the two orbs flashed into weapons both snow white in appearance. In his right hand was a short sword, in his left rested a dagger. For now, this would do. Vaylin didn't want to risk creating anything too costly yet, he was hoping to end the fight in a single blow.

As the 'thing' grew close, Vaylin lunged forward, purposely putting himself inside the range of the 'things' massive weapon. Vaylin was used to flying combat, after all he was an angel. He could judge the range of the weapon the thing seemed to be wielding, and also see the range at which Vaylin would had the advantage with his two weapons. Vaylin's wings folded behind his back as he did this, the purpose to keep them out of harms way as Vaylin put himself in harms way, for a second, so he could be rewarded with the upper hand. After stepping forward, Vaylin slipped to the side, bringing the dagger up, up at the thing's exposed side if it continued it's course of attack.

Eko grunted as he swung his sword really liking the idea of ending the fight with one blow, but he knew it was unlikely. One thing that Eko knew was never under or overestimate his foe and his questions of a fast win were immediatley answered when he saw the Angel nimbly roll out of the way.

Eko immediatley turned after the first attack and began a second assault. His eyes widened when the Angel's light orbs turned into weapons. When the angel got within reach and went to stab, Eko tucked in his wings and rolled over Vaylin before taking off in a flash. Now it was time to see how his foe fared against distance attacks.

He flew up into the air as soon as he hit the ground from the roll and sheathed his sword. Quickly, he concentrated and shot five tital waves of fire in a large arch over the battlefield. The heat and the flames covered the sky as they rained down, Eko coming in front behind them for another aerial sweep. He drew his sword and seperated them into two by pushing a large amount of heat into the blades, seperating them. It was time to party.

This male was fast, much faster than Vaylin really liked for his size and the weapon he wielded. After getting close enough to almost nick the things side, Vaylin could discern what he was fighting was male, but only by the brief glimpse he had gotten of the guy's face. Vaylin had swung backwards in an attempt to hit the guy, but he had already moved away, rollling to safety before taking off into the air again. Vaylin cursed under his breath as he watched the male fly away. He truly had some incredible speed for one carrying such large wings. Vaylin could only ponder if those wings also served to make him grow tired faster though. Vaylin didn't want to have to rely on that to win this fight though. He would much prefer just out thinking his opponent.

"Eh, fire. Wonderful. I hate fire." Vaylin whispered as he saw the fire leaping towards him through the sky from where the male flew so far away. Vaylin threw his weapons aside and they resorted back into orbs of light before Vaylin flicked his hands out sending two more orbs to the mix. Judging by the heat Vaylin could already feel by the flames, he wasn't prepared for the attack that was approaching. With this in mind, Vaylin tossed out two more light orbs before holding his hands out from his sides. With a sudden conviction, Vaylin brought his hands together and then down, the orbs of light flickering for a moment before slamming into the ground around him. The balls of light suddenly gave forth a brilliant light, covering Vaylin in a momentary barrier as the flames hit. It was like a fire storm, and Vaylin had no intentions of being caught in it.

"Release..." Vaylin whispered as the fire subsided, the light fading away just as male approached, weapon ready for the kill. Vaylin pushed his hand forward slightly, one of the orbs of light flickering across the ground to be in front of him before erupting upward in a ray of light energy, tearing the ground apart as Vaylin nimbly skipped backwards, the other sprites following his motion, still circling him harmlessly. On their own, the little balls of energy weren't all that much to be concerned about. Vaylin, armed with them however, was something to be concerned with. This was a little trick Vaylin had learned, allowing him to change between weapons and light attacks without giving much warning. Regardless of if the counter attack hit or not, Vaylin held his hand out and took ahold of one of the orbs, but it did not shift in his grip into anything, instead is just rested there.

Eko yelped as his fire was extinquished and backed off his attack for a moment. This fight would require brawn and though as well as skill. He flew back to the forest and disappeared inside of it, if only for a moment. Luckily, his wings, however large they were, were very light so he didn't wear out.
He landed in the woods and drew his sword. He seperated them and began a flurry of cutting the trees. Then, he used one sword which was a light grey and slammed it into the ground causing a great burst of razor wind. The sharpened pieces of wood shot at his foe sharp as knives while Eko lifted his arms and shot two bone harpoons at him. He then grabbed his swords and and shot forward behind the wind, retracting the claws after they either missed or hit.

Vaylin was relieved that Eko didn't continue to press an attack, otherwise he would have been forced to go on the offensive in a quick. Vaylin didn't do defensive very well, in fact he was rather limited in defensive fighting tactics. Vaylin could keep pressing an offense, but once he was forced to slip fully into a defensive fighting style he was in trouble. Vaylin knew full well if he was forced to defend for too long, Eko would find openings to exploit. Vaylin let Eko retreat into the forest without being attack before Vaylin started to walk towards the trees, stretching as he did so, the little orbs following him intently. This fight was just weird, Vaylin being left unsure of what he was really up against.

Suddenly there was a tearing sound, Vaylin's eyes narrowing as he watched the forest. He couldn't see what was going on in the forest, but from the sounds of it... Vaylin cursed a second time as pieces of wood shot from the forest, destroying trees that got in the path of the hail of wood, but also continuing towards Vaylin. Vaylin started to jump back as he threw the orb in his hand at the oncoming storm of wood. Three of the other orbs followed this single orb before the lead orb's light grew, taking over the other orbs following after it. A ray of light tore through the wood that had been aimed directly for Vaylin, a bright light being the only sign that this had occurred.

Without any warning, the light faded and there was Vaylin, soaring toward Eko with great speed. In his hand was the final orb, and as Eko shot his two bone claws, Vaylin threw the orb, taking to the sky a second later. Eko had only been a few yards away when Vaylin had done this, but that didn't mean Vaylin's attack was a sure hit. The little ball was suddenly pierced from the sky by a bolt of light energy, the ray growing suddenly and for a moment before the light faded away completely, the ground being left with a large whole in it due to the attack. The attack would definitely hurt, possibly kill, if Eko ran straight into it, but that was doubtful. Vaylin let his wings beat steadily in the sky as he watched the ground and the clearing dust from his attack to see how his opponent had faired. While holding height there though, Vaylin moved his right hand to his left arm, a faint trail of blood dripping down his arm from where he had been hit by one of the razor pieces of wood.

Eko had observed Vaylin's reactions to his attacks. His foe had responded quickly, probably thinking for solutions quickly instead of rushing staright in. Good, and opponent who could think. When the light ray came from the sky, Eko shot a bone claw to his right, grabbing onto a tree and pulled himself in that direction. It seemed whenever Eko attacked Vaylin prepared a defense prior with those balls of light. Well then.
Eko used his fire sword and made an ocean of fire head toward Vaylin. Right when it seemed he was about to use a ball of light, the bounty hunter then shot wind out of his other sword, quadrupling the fire wave's power.
Then the mercenary shot into the sky and rained fire in all directions with a burst of wind behind it. He kept repeating this process until a tornade of fire erupted, with Eko's wind from his wings controlling it. He landed not too far from the twister watching the results, prepared for anything.

Vaylin barely caught sight of Eko bolting aside, avoiding his attack entirely causing Vaylin to shake his head lightly. This was getting out of hand. This guy was fast, not only that but he didn't seem to be getting very tired even though he had to be twice as heavy as Vaylin. He was fast, and seemed to have some serious stamina reserves. Vaylin was going to have to stop playing around with this... thing if he planned to not get himself hurt. How was he going to explain to Faith that he had been fighting a freaking monster?! That title seemed to hold more significance here than Vaylin really liked. What else was he supposed to call this winged male?

Vaylin shook his head as he saw what Eko was doing, sending out enough fire to raze the very sky in it's flames. "Does he ever get tired?!" Vaylin yelled in annoyance as his wings took a strong beat, taking him higher in the sky. He couldn't hope to dodge all of those fires, there was no way. Then it got worse, Eko sent wind to push the fires even faster and with a more raging fire. Vaylin shook his head as he raised his hand up to the sky. Eko was still moving, turning this wave into a fiery tornado from the looks of it which was cutting Vaylin's time to do something very slim. Luckily, Vaylin already was doing something. The area was growing dark as if the light was being pulled away from it. That was what was happening, the light was being pulled into the sky above Vaylin. The sky was almost glowing with light energy, a warning of what was to come.

"Hope this leaves a mark." Vaylin whispered as he dropped his hand towards the ground. The light in the sky suddenly focused into a massive orb before sending a ray of light energy downward, unfocused at the very center of the tornado. The attack was weak, but that was due to the fact that Vaylin didn't have time to actually summon up a true attack. He was just reacting as fast as possible to a force way stronger than his own. The light ray pierced the tornado, tearing it asunder and leaving none of the fire in it's wake. Vaylin wasn't hard to see as he descended to the ground, wings beating slowly before he collapsed onto his knees on the ground, breathing heavy. So that attack was draining, even without spending a lot of time focusing on drawing the energy to actually do something with it. "Oh my... I'm tired. Faith is going to kill me when I get home." Vaylin said with a shake of his head.

Eko watched as his fire tornado imploded, standing about twenty feet away from it. Dust flew all around him while he covered his face from the light. Interesting indeed.
"Nice light show." he called over to Vaylin.
He held his swords and fused them together. He held the now two handed sword in one hand and took a stance. "You got anymore cool stuff?" He called to Vaylin not a single hint of weakness in his voice. He flapped his wings hard and a strong gust of wind blasted at Vaylin one gust after another. He then seperated the swords into two again and shot forward, ready to see the other warrior's fighting style.

This guy either didn't comprehend the concept of tired, or simply never stopped. This was getting out of hand for Vaylin, after all he was still trying to learn how to use his light energy without exhausting himself quickly. Then the male actually acted as though he wasn't effected at all. Vaylin let out a tired breath as he watched the Eko. This guy was insane, that was it. Eko's gusts of wind sent Vaylin reeling, causing him to roll backwards on the ground before he finally planted his feet. By this point Eko was charging him, leaving Vaylin watching in mild horror. So apparently exhaustion was not an issue for this... thing that relatively resembled an Angel... though only slightly. Vaylin let out a breath of surprise as he forced himself stand.

Vaylin threw off his coat without a second of hesitation, Eko growing very close by this point. As the jacket flew through the air, holes formed in the material and in all the jacket just looked to get more beat up. In return, Vaylin flicked his hand out in sudden agitation. Vaylin's duel ended spear flashed into his hand without warning as his eyes narrowed, three sprites of light energy forming in the air in response to Vaylin summoning his weapon. "Fine, you want a close range fight, you've got one." Vaylin whispered as he crouched, a second later throwing himself forward with a single beat of his wings before they tucked behind his back.

Vaylin's first attack was simple, a full arm swing, Vaylin using his right arm to swing the spear in from outside. As he was using a spear, this wasn't particularly a powerful attack, up until Vaylin then pushed forward with the spear, aimed to pierce any block that Eko may have tried to perform when Vaylin had first brought the spear inward with a swing. Without pausing for a breath, Vaylin twisted the spear tip out to the right of Eko, Vaylin stepping to the left of Eko, before Vaylin brought the rear tip into play before swinging it in while he pulled the spear closer to his body. This wasn't a particularly powerful maneuver, but it was fast.

Eko watched as he sprant forward the Angel pull out his spear. Interesting. Eko seperated his sword for the first time in front of Vaylin and went into action. Both swords covered themselves in their element of fire and wind, showing the readiness for combat.

Eko dodged the first two attacks and began his dance of fire. Fire trailed behind the first sword and was then advanced by the fellow swords trailing wind. He stepped to the side at the stab and smashed the spear down with one sword while swinging the other sword gracefully at Vaylin. Quickly he leapt into the air and landed a kick on the Angel. He barely caught a spear swing in his chest, bruising it.

Quickly, he resumed his dance, cutting fast but gracefully while minding his defense as the fire trailed behind him. This angel still might have some tricks up his sleeves.

Vaylin noticed with some success he forced Eko to dodge, which was a nice turn of events, but this suddenly the strange Angel, which Vaylin had now determined the male to be, suddenly countered into attack. Vaylin felt a sharp hit of his spear being knocked aside, forcing Vaylin to bend back to avoid the sudden attack. The blade, Vaylin didn't take time to wonder which one it was, cut the air just above Vaylin. Vaylin managed to right himself before he fell onto the ground, but only to meet a kick from Eko, sending Vaylin reeling back. Vaylin's feet planted as quickly as he had started to stumble though, bringing his spear up to nick Eko's chest, but that was all. Eko suddenly resorted into a fiery dance, leaving Vaylin no chance to really flip to the offensive.

Vaylin's wings took a strong beat, sending Vaylin away from Eko as he slammed one end of the spear into the ground. Vaylin flicked his hands out, two more sprites adding themselves to his already three, before Vaylin took ahold of the spear as Eko approached. He was far too fast for Vaylin's liking, and Vaylin was starting to grow concerned with the wound in his left arm. What had once been a dull pain was growing the more Vaylin tried to fight with the arm. Vaylin flicked his spear into motion, countering Eko's swing and using the torque of the length Vaylin had with his spear to pushed the blade at an angle that wouldn't harm him. This was quickly followed by Vaylin adjusting the spear to take a glancing blow from the sword, Vaylin making his motion at that moment.

Vaylin moved well within the range of Eko's blades, in fact Vaylin was close enough to knock heads with Eko. Vaylin's spear met the ground and stuck there as Vaylin brought his hand back before bringing it in, a single light orb following the motion and melding with his hand. As soon as Vaylin finished extending his arm, the orb shot out as a precise ray of light. It would pierce Eko's skin if it hit as that was it's entire point. It was a piercing blow. The only flaw was that it required Vaylin to waste an orb, and the attack wasn't very strong. It would hurt, might even wound Eko if he couldn't dodge it, but it wouldn't kill unless Vaylin pierced Eko's heart or another extremely vital organ. The thing was, Vaylin was aiming for Eko's gut, not his heart.

Eko's senses went on full alarm as a light shown in Vaylin's hand, and shot towards him. Crap was his only thought as he turned away from his opponent, feeling a stab of pain in his right wing. Luckily though, some of the scales from his wings shot out and stabbed Vaylin's hands but still Eko was in pain. He looked over to view the damage as he dodged away towards the lake. A hole the size of a fist lay in his wing, Eko's fault for not considering Vaylin's light orbs as a weapon of choice. He gritted his teeth as he panted from the weapon duel and tossed aside the pain, glaring with pure anger in his eyes at his opponent but not enough to throw away his senses.

"You're going to pay for that." Eko said venemously, putting his swords into the ground to the left and to the right. His wings were his pride. He took a deep breath and concentrated, before opening his mouth and raising his hands at this foe. The mercenary exhaled and three wave of flame erupted from his hands and mouth, using them like a hose and spraying the land where Vaylin was. The heat was enormous as Eko halted the blasts after a couple of seconds, panting only just barely as he gripped both swords and prepared for whatever Vaylin threw at him, taking no chances but not withdrawing his blades from the earth. Playtime was over.
