WHO: Roux, Rivener and Aphismet
WHEN: 1 PM
WHERE: The Delaran's House
WEATHER: Cold but clear

Strong wings flapped as Roux soared through the sky, the cold winter air blowing against his face as he flew. To normal people, the winter air would feel like sharp needles stinging their face; but for Roux, it was a very refreshing feeling, he even feels more energized. It was day, and he had taken a less crowded and noticeable route through the air to get to his destination, to avoid getting spotted and getting people in his way. Above quiet alleys, dense rooftops and trees, no open air places like parks and highways.

He was eager, very eager to finally be able to meet with Rivener again, the one that belongs to him. "And mine only..." His cold heart beat with excitement at the very thought, as bizarre as that may sound.

Sharp blue eyes scoured the area below him as he approached Durem. The address on the sticky note said that the Delarans live in northern Durem now, he should be close. Quietly, he swooped down in between two tall buildings into an empty alley. He should look via street level from here on out.

The Sigel did not find it immediately, it took him roughly two hours to finally found the correct area. To avoid attracting too much attention, he had ceased to release his chilling aura during his search, although his strange and sometimes terrifying outlook did attracted some unwanted attention, but he paid them no heed.

This is it. Roux compared the street name to the one on the paper. "Westland Street." He could feel the blood started to pump in his cold veins as he quickly went down the street, looking for the correct house number. In his excitement, he had started to release a little of his chilling air once more, adding a small layer of ice wherever he passed by. 1551, 1553... just a few more houses down the street. And finally... "1575..." He whispered almost breathlessly as he finally came upon the house he was looking for. "Rivener." For a moment, a boyish smile flashed across his features as he quickly went up the house, vaguely resembling who he once was. But it quickly disappeared as he reached the door. Would Rivener be home? There was also another problem... would the other Delarans be home? Surely if he took Rivener away from them, they wouldn't be happy. But he wouldn't let them get in the way as well.

Expression darkening, he pressed the bell on the door once before flapping his wings gently, and rise up the air without a sound.

It was the middle of the day. Rivener sat on the living room sofa, trying to forget all the things that were gnawing at him. Alex missing. Aphismet's stress. Eiry's conviction that he could help somehow, the minty Sigel absent from the house since he'd learned of the ice-trapped Lab. Zul's concern over his missing guardian. And, most prominently this morning, the memory of the Star-speak. They had all but shrieked at him the whole time he tried to feed, last night: Beware! BEWARE! BEWARE!... All that panicky warning, but no hint as to what the danger was. It must have something to do with what happened at the Lab, right?

The doorbell rang. Isi and Aphi were upstairs in the chef's room, with Isikoro trying to take care of Aphismet since the chef's fainting episode that morning. That left Rivener as the only person to answer the door, and though he didn't usually like being reduced to menial tasks, he welcomed the distraction today. With a huff, Riv pushed himself off the couch with his good arm (still favoring it very much as his other arm still felt weak from all that time in the splint) and floated to the door.

The Scorpion didn't have far to go, the living room being right beside the entryway. He opened the front door and huddled against the blast of wintry cold, one arm wrapping about himself. He should have grabbed his sweater before answering, but he figured it wouldn't take long. This little bit of cold shouldn't harm him all that much.

"Ye-" he began, frowning as he found absolutely no one beyond the door. What was this, some stupid neighborhood kids playing a prank? ...B-but there were not footsteps in the fresh snow on the porch steps. A ghost? That'd make Eiry happy, but Rivener doubted. "What the hell?" he mumbled, glancing around outside.

Roux was waiting with bated breath for the door to be answered, he was expecting one of the other Delarans to answer actually, like Aphismet or Isikoro, or even Eirdirsceol. Various ways to deal with them was racing through his mind as he waited, how should he incapacitate them without alerting Rivener? Should he kill them? But when he saw that it was Rivener who answered, his heart skipped a beat before he swooped down swiftly and gracefully, wrapping his arms around the other Sigel's neck and while Rivener was still stunned, lays his head on his shoulder.

"My Rivener~" The ice Raevan purred lovingly, sounding much like the old Roux that Rivener would remember. He was finally in his arms now, the one that belong to him, the one that would love him for eternity, never leaving him. Slowly he took a deep breath, inhaling Rivener's scent slowly, then lets out a contented sigh. His wings fluttered gently with delight.

However, in his state of contentment, the chilling cold that surrounded him seemed to heighten in intensity as well. Making the immediate surrounding a few degrees lower than the atmospheric temperature.

To say that Rivener was surprised by the sudden turn of events would have been the understatement of the year. Pale arms around his neck, a cold-crowned head on his shoulder, his name purred in the almost exact fashion Zul did... Although instead of smokey velvet, this purring voice was icy silk. Red eyes widened in shock.

The immediate vicinity became colder than it should, the window in the door frosting over with a quiet crik. Rivener felt the cold bite into him painfully, his rune sputtering with effort to keep him conscious. "Ah!" he mumbled in confusion for a moment, his arms wrapping about Roux's waist by reflex. "R-Roux? Roux, you're hurting me with the cold," Riv finally spoke, frowning as something scratched at the back of his mind. Something he should realize...

"Come inside," the Scorpion breathed, pulling away enough to peer down at the Ice Sigel. "And turn down the freeze a little, please?" A wry smirk pulled at his lips as he guided his long-lost friend inside.

Once they were both in, Rivener closed the door and moved over to the living room, where he'd left a thick sweater on the sofa. He grabbed this and slipped it on, having to work around the other Raevan who didn't seem keen on letting him go. "...I'm glad to see you, Roux. What're you doing here? Where's Chloe?"

He truly felt contented when he felt Rivener's arms wrapped around his waist, they belong to each other, he knew it. A confused look dawn on his face when Rivener complained about the cold, pulling a little away. Didn't Rivener liked to be touched? He was always touchy feely when they used to be together. It did occurred to him though that the scorpion may not enjoy the cold as much as he does. However, he did not apologize, at least not verbally. Quietly he let Rivener pull himself away from his grasp, this is as much as an 'apology' that the scorpion will get from the ice Raevan.

Idly he kept the cold to himself as he entered the new Delaran house, taking a hold of Rivener's hand and wouldn't let go, holding on to it dearly. It was as if, if he let go, he will lose Rivener all over again.

Gently he fluttered his wings a little before folding them neatly on his back, looking curiously at the unfamiliar interior. A single feather fell from his wings and slowly floated to the ground. Without a sound, it touched the ground and a thin layer of ice formed around it's immediate surrounding.

"To see my Rivener~" Roux replied to Rivener's inquiry as he wrapped his arm around the scorpion's waist once he was clothed in the thick sweater. "Miss you..." It was a question that Rivener frequently asked him when they were together back then, but now he finally knew what it meant, he can finally give the scorpion the answer he wanted. "Miss me too?"

The question about Chloe's whereabouts though was left unanswered as Roux enjoyed Rivener's company, glad to be able to see him again.

Something was definitely... off about Roux. The more time Rivener spent near him, the more he realized the difference from how Roux used to be. Firstly, the Ice Sigel would never initiate or demand physical contact; Riv always thought it was because of the body heat being an annoyance to him. Secondly, Roux never outright admitted he'd wanted Riv around him in any way, it was always this subtle game of reading of the pale Raevan's broken language and body cues which Rivener had prided himself on mastering. And of course thirdly, there was that strange helm of ice...

Rivener wasn't pleased to notice that Roux had hardly turned down the cold at all when he once again wrapped up Rivener in his arms, though this time the sweater did an acceptable enough job of keeping the worst of the bite away. Riv still winced at it, feeling his strength seeping out. He put his own arms around Roux's shoulders, wondering why this felt-... wrong.

"Of course I missed you too, Roux. You've been gone so long. You came back just to see me?" And suddenly the little red flag went up. Riv saw the unfamiliar warmth in Roux's eyes, a look he had never seen from him before but recognized easily enough now: longing. Affection. Attraction.

Rivener shouldn't encourage this! He had Zul now, he didn't want the Demon to ever again misunderstand Rivener's shows of affection towards another! Roux was a precious friend, an old acquaintance (one of his first!) that mattered so much, but Rivener was certain he loved Roux only as a friend now. But how to let down the Ice Sigel gently? Should he shatter another friendship, like he had with Lucia? Would his stupid behavior as a young, ignorant Frei playing at Love get him in trouble again?

Clearly uncomfortable, Rivener glanced to the side and frowned in thought, trying to come up with how to say all this. "Uhhhmmm..."

A soft sound similar to a purr escaped his lips as Rivener said he missed him too. Nothing had changed, the scorpion still loves him and misses him, and he should be glad that... Roux knows how to return his feelings now, in his own way. Gently he leans his head to Rivener's shoulder once more. The old him used to hate bodily contact, but now he doesn't mind it anymore, he had found a way to make things cold to his touch, so that he would enjoy it.

"Come with me..." The sentence on it's own would sound like a request, a plead for one's permission. But as the words escaped Roux's cold lips, the tone was different, it was cold, it almost sounded like an order instead of a request.

The ice Raevan dreamed that they could run away together, just the two of them. Go somewhere far far away where no one will bother them, somewhere where no one can separate them, or take Rivener away, somewhere... where Rivener will stay by his side for eternity, never leaving him.

Gently he cupped Rivener's face, perhaps too drowned in his own stubborn ideals that he still loves him, to realized the scorpion's discomfort. Slowly he shuts his icy blue eyes and leans in, parting his lips a little to meet with Rivener's. He missed the kiss they had in the love tunnel ride, it was... very nice. He wanted to feel that again.

Ooookay, this was getting a little out of hand. That purring sound sent a deep shot of guilt through Riv, as it reminded him so thoroughly of Zul. In the next moment Roux was leaning against his shoulder, a stab of actual physical pain permeating through the Scorpion's body as his shoulder became cold as ice on contact.

And then that strange sentence, like a command shrouded in a question. Rivener frowned. He unlaced his arms from the hug and put hands on Roux's arms, intending to push him away softly, but as soon as they'd moved the tiniest bit, Roux lifted a hand to his cheek (causing Riv to hiss in pain again) and leaned in to kiss-

"No!" Rivener barked, pushing Roux away enough that he wouldn't touch his lips to that cold, pale mouth. Red eyes focused on the other Sigel with a wary glimmer, Rivener's frown more regretful than angry. "No, Roux, I can't do that anymore with you. We can't kiss. We were apart so long, too long... I have someone else, now. Someone I love. I promised I wouldn't kiss anyone else, so I can't-... But please believe, Roux, I still love you a lot. As a friend. And I'd let you stay here with me as long as you need, as long as you understand that we can't kiss, we can't be-... we can't be what you want us to be anymore."

Rivener worried. He wondered if his long-lost Roux would be able to understand what he'd said. And still in the back of his mind, something was scratching at him, trying to get his attention...

The push that broke their body contact, the regretful apology that came too late, the rejection.. it all came too suddenly. It was all perhaps a little too much for the roc to handle. For a moment Roux could just stare at the scorpion in surprise with blue eyes as big as saucers, watching him back away, as if running away from Roux. Rivener does not love him anymore...? "Rivener... loves someone else..." It took some time, but reality settled in finally, realizing the current situation, Roux took a sharp breath. So now Rivener too is abandoning him...?

At that moment, he felt something break within him.

"Someone else..." No, Rivener belongs to him, he does not belong to someone else. Him, and him only. "Miiiine....." A glint of something insane flashed in Roux's wide blue eyes, a crooked grin began to twist his handsome features as he began to freeze his surroundings almost immediately, a bone chilling cold emanates from his entire form as he spread his wings to it's fullest.

"RIVENER IS MINE!!!" A chilling shriek echoed through the house as he extended his arms towards the scorpion, immediately freezing him to the ground up to his waist before he could run away, effectively immobilizing him. Then he gently swooped down from above in front of Rivener, cupping his face and staring into the other's crimson eyes. "We will be together, forever..." No one could take Rivener away from him, not Aphismet, not Kyou, and definitely not that someone else that Rivener now loves. And now, finally when Rivener couldn't pull away, he leans in for that kiss he longed for, pressing his cold lips to the scorpion's.

Rivener's concerned frown darkened as he clearly saw something snap in Roux's eyes. The heartbroken look from a moment ago, the look that made Riv feel lower than dirt, suddenly transformed into something-... something that terrified the Scorpion to his core. And that's when the voices that had been whispering at him finally broke through, reminding Riv: The Return of the Prince! Beware!

"Roux," Rivener tried to speak, raising a hand to try and calm the roc, but the Scorpion flinched away in shock when Roux's answer came in the form of a bone-chilling screech, wings spreading wide and deathly cold power seeping from him like an arctic wind, stealing Riv's breath from him. "Roux, stop, Ro-... AARGH!" Ice as solid as concrete caught the ends of Rivener's ribbon near the ground and crept up until they captured the dark Sigel completely, encasing his rune and his hips in pain Rivener had never experienced before. This was so much worse than broken wings, than gunshot wounds!! He could feel his blood slowing from the cold, all his nerves struggling to remain awake, sparking over and over...

So distracted and stunned by the pain was he that he hadn't noticed Roux coming closer until those lips were on his. "MMMNNGH!!!" Rivener half-screamed into the kiss, scrunching his eyes shut against the pain that stabbed through his skull. He didn't want this! What the hell was wrong with Roux!?

Numbed arms reached up weakly to try and push Roux away, fingers prickling with frostbite as they touched the Ice Sigel directly. Riv's right arm, its strength still not recovered from the three months in a splint, was all but useless in the struggle. "Roux, stop, stop, please! You're hurting me!" Riv mumbled, his voice trembling in the cold, when Roux finally moved away from that kiss. Hazy red eyes tried to focus on those chilly blues through the agony, keeping Roux's attention on Riv's face while the Scorpion desperately tried to summon up some measure of poison in his wings. He needed to defend himself, though he hated the idea of stinging someone he once considered so precious. Now if only his power wasn't being drained away so quickly by the soul-sucking cold!

A part of Roux had been destroyed when he was pushed away and rejected so cruelly by the only one he thought would love him. He is unwanted in this world; no one wants him anymore. His sanity was already hanging by the hinges, those words finally dealt a final blow to it, shattering it to pieces. What's left now is a cold-hearted, malevolent, revengeful being that only wishes to fulfill his own selfish wishes. He no longer care who he hurts, who he kills or what will become of him. He only want to be with Rivener... for eternity.

All of Rivener's cries and screams were deaf to Roux's ears as he was pushed away carelessly by the scorpion. And with the absence of his emotions, there seems to be a heighten sense of animal instinct for danger. Without any warning, he shot a glare at Rivener's wings, where a single drop of poison had formed at the very tip, the fruit of the scorpion's struggles. In the deep recesses of his mind, he seemed to vaguely remember that Rivener, being a scorpion as he is, has stingers on his wings. Perhaps he had boasted about it once very long ago, but memories were nothing to Roux now.

Clawed hands gripped into Rivener's arm as a trail of ice immediately formed and crawl up the scorpion's body, freezing the tip of his wings, ignoring all of his painful cries. Now his stingers are useless.

When he felt that Rivener is no longer a threat, he lets go of his arm and places his ice cold hands on Rivener's face, cupping it in almost a loving manner. If only his touch was not as cold as they are. One corner of his lips twisted up in a crazed grin. "Together... forever." He repeated, like a mantra to himself.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 13, 2011 7:26 am

Rivener screamed and screamed, both in pain and in panic, trying to get Roux to release him. The yells didn't seem to phase Roux at all, those unfeeling blue eyes flicking up to Riv's wing-tips just as they were ready to sting. Riv's blood froze with fear as knowledge sparked in those crazed eyes, and a moment later he REALLY froze as ice shot up to his wing-tips and seized them with cold, making them useless. A long, sharp knife of agony sped all the way down the Scorpion's wing-bones, drawing another scream.

Upstairs, he could vaguely hear Isikoro and Aphismet's thumping footsteps. "NO, DON'T COME DOWN HERE!" he yelled in warning to the humans, hoping they wouldn't get caught in Roux's fury. "DON'T- AAAAH!!"

Cold, painfully cold hands touched his face. Tears streamed from Rivener's clenched-shut eyes as his face pricked and stung from the torturous ice in that touch. His energy was fading faster now. Red eyes opened blearily, his vision blurred by weakness, but Rivener still saw that insane, crooked smile on his once-precious friend's face. This was not Roux anymore.

Together forever, the thing wearing Roux's face was saying, and Rivener knew what that meant. His breath caught as he struggled to remain awake, his consciousness fading. Eyebrows melting up in concern, Riv's lips moved on their own one final time before he passed out.

"No... Zul..."

The last word that Rivener uttered before he passed out caught Roux's attention, the grin on his face faded just as quickly as it appeared. "Zul..?" Who is Zul? He wanted to ask, but he knew that Rivener had passed out by now, although crazed, Roux is not stupid to miss the obvious. But the question remained, who is Zul? Is he perhaps... the person that Rivener loves now? An overwhelming feeling of rage and jealousy filled him then. Yes... that must be it. The hint of longing in Rivener's voice when he mentioned that name, Zul is the one that took Rivener away from him, his Rivener.

A cold deadly chill surrounded the ice Raevan then, even forming a thin sheet of frost over Rivener's face. It seems like his work here is not done yet, someone took Rivener away from him, and his pride and ego would not let it rest, whoever that is... they must pay for this sin. "Zul..." He hissed, his voice practically dripping with malice.

When Aphismet and Isikoro finally reached the living room, they would find it covered in impossible layers of ice everywhere, it would also be empty. A part of the ice seemed to had been broken off from the ground, and it is here that a shredded piece of cloth from the thick sweater Rivener was wearing could be found, torn off from when Roux took him away.
