The Five year plan. Some people have a strict set up of what they want to accomplish by a certain age. "By the time I'm thirty I want to have a house and have started a family." "Within the next five years, I'm going to pay off all my debt." and so on.
I've been sitting around making my own five year plan. I've got more abstract goals in mind for further in the future, but for now, I can plan out in some detail how I want the next few years to go. Doing this made me wonder what others were trying to accomplish in the next few years.
--------------
Speaking personally, I plan on getting a job to raise enough money to move out at the end of the summer. I've applied to a college out in Arizona, and with any luck I'll get in and spend the next three years there, getting my bachelor's degree. This job is meant to finance the apartment I'd need, along with moving expenses and part of my tuition-- at least until I get a job out there to pay the rest with.
After that I plan on applying to Chiropractic school, which should take another three years to complete. I should be about 22 when I graduate.
--------------
So what are your long term goals? Not just a five year plan, but things you'd like to achieve by a certain age. Traveling the world, writing a book, having a family, becoming a famous actor or singer?

I mean to get a job in Chicago, graduate, get a job in Pittsburgh, move back to Pittsburgh, and then get some kind of permanent art job. Hopefully I will have no less than 100 pages of my graphic novel completely finished, but I think I'll start that again... And I want to develop my artistic style, a bit more. I also want to have 666 members in the guild, by then.

The only long term goal I currently have is to move into my own place.

The Five Year Plan... One of my strong points. Admittedly mine is actually a Ten Year Plan.
Year ONE - Take my much-needed gap year. Find a 9-to-5 job for the week, continue working at the Gallery on Saturdays.
Year TWO - Return to my studys fresh-faced, non-broke, and with a little more life experience.
Year THREE: Finish the last semester of my BA, enter the honours programme.
Year FOUR: Complete my BA (Hons). Enter the Masters programme.
Year FIVE: Complete my BA (MA). This will be a Research Masters, as opposed to a Taught Masters.
Year SIX: Hopefully walk into a job at the Auckland Museum or, preferably, Te Papa. Failing this, I will apply for an entry-level position and work my way up. Either way is completely fine.
Year SEVEN: Look for my own place and stop flatting with friends. If there is a boyfriend or whatever on the scene, then I may take him with me.
Year EIGHT: Kids. Must have by now, because I will be getting my tubes tied at 28.
Year NINE: Hopefully look at buying an apartment or whatever.
Year TEN: My happily ever after, really.
