KEEPER
Name:Mary Winters
Age: Approximately 13-14 ish, actual birth date unknown. Is much smaller than most her age due to poor feeding and a weak constitution.
Region: Mary has lived in Pwlanarfyll all her life, never having the chance nor the interest in venturing beyond the city's gray borders. She knows no language save for Panymese, and cannot read or write fluently, knowing about half the Panymese alphabet. Although technically considered a believer in Obscuvos, she doesn't really follow any religion or believe in a certain god.
Personality: Mary suffers from a inferiority complex that bloomed in her ever since ыhe was young. As such she is often bullied by the other children in her orphanage, who are in truth spooked by her machine like obedience and eagerness to serve. Mary has grown far apart from her peers mentally, and her limited interactions with other people have made him antisocial and hesitant to speak, which, in turn, makes the other kids even more frightened of her, and making the circle of fear and distrust permanent.
In winter, however, a sudden change comes over Mary. She does not lose her obedience, but will stop openly asking for burdens and will actually start mischief making, as if asking to receive punishment. This places all the caretakers in a complete stupor, for the punishment for misbehavior in winter is especially strict - you have to spend the night outside with only a blanket and a pillow for warmth. Even the most obnoxious of troublemakers quiet down during the winter months, for not one trick on the adults is worth freezing outside during the cold, long nights.
But for Mary, staying outside in the snow is not at all unpleasant, in fact it is the only time she can feel at peace with herself, and with her surroundings. She is strangely resistant to cold, and suffers from headaches in the summer, when most of the orphanage is outside, playing and relaxing. Most consider winter the time of death. Mary considers it the time of beauty, and the white coating on everything reminds her of a white piece of paper, on which a great artist is about to paint a magnificent masterpiece.
After all, the most beautiful picture is the one yet to be born.
Appearance:Mary has dirt brown hair up to her shoulders, and slightly pale skin, with scars and bruises all over her body due to her past and present bullying problems. She is approximately 5'3, and is seriously underweight, just barely avoiding anorexia. Her eye color is icy blue, and she prefers to wear anything gray or brown, if she had the choice.
History: Mary was born to an abusive mother, a prostitute who ran out of luck and got herself pregnant. Lara Winters was an alcohol addict, and spent all of her measly paycheck on cheap beer and some food to get her through the day. She blamed all her misfortunes upon her only child, and, after time, Mary sincerely started to believe it was all her fault. After the baby was able to walk, talk, and understand others she was pushed out on the streets to earn money for her own food by begging. Soon afterword, the mother started making Mary do everything around the house, to "redeem" herself for all her sins. Then the beatings began. In a drunken frenzy Lara started to destroy everything around her, and injure her own daughter. Knife wounds, painful bruises, and severe concussions became a daily reality, furthering the poor child's emotional pain, and completely destroying her self esteem and self value.
But Mary was not to stay with her horrible mother much longer. Around the time Mary turned 8, Lara could not stand the burden of an extra mouth, and left the little child on the steps of the orphanage in the middle of a snowy night, and walked away. Mary was found only the next morning, curled up in a ball at the bottom step. Some considered it a small miracle that such a weak child survived throughout the harsh night, and decided to take the child in. The rest of her life Mary spent in the orphanage, bullied by the other children and ignored by the adults. Until that mysterious object changed, morphed into him. Jäch It was as if she was born again.
~~~~~
How wonderful it is to have a goal in life! To know you are useful, to be used like the slave that you are! To be able to obey, and know that you will do anything for him!
He is my savior, my master, my god.
PLAGUEPlague Item: Ornamented Broken Glass (Once a part of a glass chalice.)Name: Jäch Item history: It all began with a crash in the middle of the night. Mary's neighbor at the dorm broke her window, by tripping on a rough surface in the floor when coming back from the bathroom. It was the middle of winter, and the window couldn't be left in it's shattered state for long, for fear of chilling the whole orphanage. The next morning, Mary was sent to deliver the order for a replacement to the glass-maker. It was at the glass-makers, while waiting in the line to deliver her order, she noticed the chalice. It was the color of freshly frozen ice, and the intricate designs on it reminded her of the patterns on the window, when the frost outside is especially fierce. It dazzled her with its brilliance and elegance. But it was unattainably far from her reach. It was a unique masterpiece, well out of the price range even most common born adults could pay. Common sense won over impulsiveness, and Mary carefully put it back on the shelf, and continued on to the owner. And then she heard it. That same noise that echoed through the orphanage walls that night. The sound of shattering glass. She saw the owner's eyes widen, his cheeks redden, his mouth taking on a scowl. She turned, and it was as if the world was spinning at a slower pace, and everything was moving ten times slower than it's usual pace. It was broken. Shattered. Useless. But yet, still so beautiful. Mary didn't even notice the glass-maker shouting at the wealthy noble who pushed it from the shelf. He could pay for it without blinking, and both the shop owner and the man would forget the incident in a matter of minutes. As if in a trance, Mary gently picked up the broken chalice, marveling at the skill with which it was made. And carefully put it inside her shirt, right next to her heart. She didn't mind if it scarred her. The thought of it being thrown away pained her, as if a needle was poking her heart. The owner wouldn't mind - the good was not sell able anymore, to him, it was trash. But to Mary, it was her greatest treasure. Aspects of personality: (What I would imagine him to be like in the later stages.) Jäch is as cold as the winter's breath. His strength is in his animal like indifference,and his natural cunning, as well as his different plague aspects. He firmly believes in the natural order of things, but does not look down on or despise those who try to fight their destined fate. Jäch often marvels to himself at his luck for ending up with such an adequate "owner". Willing to serve, abiding to his every whim, a perfect slave, who cares not for the consequences of her actions, as long as it pleases him. However Jäch himself cares for her safety, for he understands no other human will be able to replace her in loyalty and devotion, and will protect her as best as he can, although he treats her harshly most of the time. Lately Jäch has been noticing a strange feeling in his chest when looking at Mary smiling, and cannot understand what it is, or what it means. Concept ideas: • Glass fragments for hair in the later stages • An idea for how the chalice would have looked like: Chalice • Long, sharp fingers. • His "basic" color should be an icy blue • Jäch would have a elegant, gentleman feel to him. • He would be a Quietus.
The items in bold are the key elements, everything else is a suggestion.
