Howl was ready.
At least he thought so, having gone on a few practice dates with various people. He was dressed in his very best that afternoon; for a very special someone. In fact, she was so special, he was going to a vampire's home to see her. His black hair kept falling into his face, blue eyes glowing with confidence.
Sophie would be his. Again. Despite the fact that they were married, the wizard felt the need to woo her. To win her heart again. In his hand was a bouqet of flowers, under his arm there were boxes of chocolate. He would have brought his guitar, if he knew how to play it. Setting the boxes of chocolate down, he knocked on the door. He hoped no angry vampire had woken up early. Especially not Sophie's father.
He was still trying to overcome that fear.

"Oooooh, Alice, come quick!"
"-he's human. Gotta be. It's still daylight out-"
"-wonder if those flowers are for me?"
Sophie sighed and leaned against the stair railing in the foyer. The vast majority of the castle's maids had their faces pressed against the glass facing the entry way. "Honestly, don't you have anything better to do?" She shooed them away, laughing when one of the girls openly whined. The women were at least twice her age, even now, and they were acting like school girls!
She smoothed down her apron and tried to fix her hair. It never wanted to stay pinned up anymore, so with a huff, she let the starlit strands fall down. With her best smile, Sophie opened the door.

"Sophie!" Howl said in relief when she opened the door. He held out the flowers with a sunny smile. "I was hoping your father wouldn't be the one opening the door," he added in explanation. "These are for you. And the chocolates," he paused and studied his wife. Something didn't seem right. Well, something apart from the fact that she was staying in a vampire's castle.
"Your hair," he decided. "It's still silver. No matter, I thought we could do something today--" He pushed the hair out of his face. He was starting to see his father's point--he needed a haircut. "Maybe go ice skating? Or to a romantic dinner for two?"

"Howl?" Sophie couldn't believe it! She stiffly took the flowers and chocolates, and with one eyebrow cocked up, stared at him. He must have grown the same time she did, but- "Your hairs black!" The stitch witch stepped forward so she could run her fingers through it. "I almost didn't recognize you, Howl. Why on earth do you keep changing your hair?" She stepped back, and smiled when he pushed it out of his face. "Remind me to give you a haircut later."
Was he...? It shouldn't bother her to be asked out on a date by her own husband, but Sophie's heart started to pound faster. "I suppose we could...but I really should run those errands." She put her finger up next to her mouth. "Hrm. Oh, phooey! Let's go!" She sat the gifts down on the closest table, looped her arm in his and bailed out.

Howl smiled ruefully. "Yes, it's black," he agreed. He had woken up with black hair; though he didn't feel the need to explain that to her. "Believe it or not, it wasn't my choice. Though it does seem to suit me, doesn't it? Gives me an air of mystery." He paused, and grinned. "Would you make me the handsomest of men, Sophie?" he asked. "Talk my hair into doing something humiliating, rather."
Errands? Sophie was a witch. Howl didn't think she should have to do anything. Oh, there. Good. He beamed and nodded. "Where to first?" he asked. "The lady should always choose the destination." He studied her a moment further, before using his free hand to stroke her hair. "It is quite beautiful," he said. "Like starlight."

"You would say that," She grinned, patting his arm as she descended the entry stairs. There was a large looping circle infront of the castle that held a very generic fountain with an unusual sculpture. Two demon females, their naked chest pressed against one another with their wings spread to the four corners. She never understood the purpose of it, other than making the more chaste uncomfortable. "If I decide to talk it into doing something, your not going to know about it until it hits you."
She paused to smile, leaning into his touch. "Oh Howl." T'were the maids not still watching, she would have kissed him. "How about ice skating? That way we'll work up an appetite."

Howl studied the fountain with distaste. "That's disturbing," he muttered. "But Sophie--I'll carry a mirror everywhere I go. That way, I'll know right as it--" He smirked, and removed his arm from hers to put it around her waist. "Right as it hits. I've had my hair purple, even, not my choice, of course--it was horrible." He gave a shudder. "Shadows, terrible creatures, really."
He paused, and thought about her suggestion. "Ice skating is rather romantic," he mused, leaning over to kiss her cheek. "Alright," he agreed. "Shall we go to dinner afterward? I know this charming restaurant where I could--" He studied her a moment more. "You really do fit the description I gave you when we first met. Come, my little gray mouse. To the ice skating rink, and then dinner."

"I know what you mean." She instantly imagined little Delilah, waiting in her pot for Sophie to come back so she could destroy her room. Again. The stitch witch leaned into her husband, smiling brighter still when he kissed her cheek. It felt like ages since they were last together, and she wanted to make up for lost time.
She looked up at him and blinked, "You remember that? I'm surprised. I was sure it would have been buried underneath all the more exciting adventures of your life." She grinned, clearing teasing. " How are we to get there? I don't suppose you have any seven league boots with you, do you?"

Howl nodded; it only made sense that Sophie would have a shadow as well. He figured they were attracted to magic.
"Oh no, Sophie," Howl began, looking injured. How could she think he would have forgotten that very important day? "Of course I remember that. Meeting you was the most exciting adventure I have ever had." He paused and smirked at her. "No, no seven league boots. You might get lost on me." He placed another kiss on her cheek. "Ride the wind with me again, Sophie. We needn't go so fast this time. There's no Witch after us."
With no small amount of reluctance, he moved away from her and began muttering. There was no urgency about his movements, the wizard was in no hurry. "There," he said, looking back to his wife with a smile. "A gentle wind to take us there."
