But on the other hoof, he'd prefer to have his dad around to hide behind. Or even his mom. Oh Epona, what about his little sister!? Well, he supposed that she would be okay... she didn't get lost like he did. He groaned. When he grew up, he was going to explore... but only then. For the time being, little as he was, he knew he was helpless; he couldn't even fly yet. His father flew so gracefully, and his mother... well, she had learned from his father of all people how to fly. She flew really well herself, considering. Hieu Fang sighed to himself as he looked all around. Where was he...?

Little Hieu Fang was not the only foal lost this night. Of course, Kali had always been lost, so for her it was no different from any other night. She wandered the grassy plain, her bright orange pelt difficult to hide against the faded violet sky and the dull golds of the dying grass at her feet. She glanced over her shoulder as she trotted idly along in no particular direction to look at the setting sun, quietly admiring the similarities between her body and the colours of the dying sun. Her pelt didn't have that weird black horse-shaped spot on it, though... Kali tilted her head. Neither should the sun!
Now she had a purpose, and that pleased the little foal to no end. She had to go see why the sun had a spot! Picking up her pace, Kali quickly galloped in the direction of the dark thing, eager to see what it was and learn why it was there.

He froze at the sound of hooves approaching, and they certainly weren't his father's hooves. They were too small, too rapid moving. He began looking about, until he spotted a weird orange blur approaching him. Wh... What's that! He all but shouted in his mind. His sister was a lovely white color, like his father, and he looked like his mother... he'd never seen a more odd looking thing coming his way! "Oh no, what am I gonna do!? I can't fly yet!" He was panicking, and somewhere in the back of his mind he was scolding himself for panicking, because he wasn't picking up any real sense of danger.
At least, instinctively, he wasn't. Calming down now that he really thought about it, he wondered if he should walk away or stay put. Deciding to stay put, he waited with bated breath. Not a monster, Fang, not a monster! He repeated this mantra in his head as he waited for the approach of his upcoming visitor. Oh, how he wished Soeru was around! The hawk could scare off anything with that glare of his, and his father often remarked that if Soeru didn't tone it down he'd scare off the kids... which, Soeru wasn't scary at all, but enough of that... the orange thing was nearly here!
