Sethos gave a horse chuckle as he watched a blue jay fly off. He'd accidentally startled it while it'd been hunting for food, and off it went. He hadn't meant to scare it, but he supposed it was just as well. He was bigger than it was, after all--except for the fact he was rather small in his world. Being an usdia had a lot of downsides if he ever happened to run into the 'big ones'--the Soquilis--and for the most part they were nice, except he sometimes felt their mockery behind their gazes.
Shrugging off those morbid thoughts, Sethos continued on his lonely little walk. Lonely... yes, he was quite lonely. He had been alone for a long time... He wished he had friends, or even a mate to make idle chatter with. He liked his solace and isolation from time to time, but this constant stream of lonely time he had was too much. He preferred company over all... He sighed as he nosed around the ground, searching for a sweet munchie to eat.

The little pink patterned mare looked skywards as the sound of whirring wings went by over her head. A blue bird, but what type she couldn't tell for it flew by so quickly. Parfait wondered what had startled it and her ears flicked, suddenly on the alert, her tail giving a nervous swish.
For a little while she stood still in this way, listening and looking but in the end she carried on going, unable to work out what it had been and well, nothing had come tearing out of the undergrowth to get her so she thought it must be safe.
'Silly birdie.' she chided the long gone bird, and went on her way, humming a little tune. Of course if she had her one true love, her perfect knightly prince type stallion then she wouldn't have been jittery for no reason because he would have been able to protect her! It really was too poor of the spirits not to have sent him to her yet, but she was still of mostly good cheer, and would continue to believe that true love was out there.
He was out there somewhere, and so all she had to do was be her pretty, loving self and they find each other. In the meantime she was slightly hungry and therefore she began nosing around the wintery grass, looking for any blades that weren't muddied or brown from the weather.

Sethos paused as he swore he heard sounds of another creature nearby. He looked up, wondering what in the world would another being be doing out in this weather--save for himself, of course--before he realized he was looking at something "pink." Blinking, he wondered what he was staring at before he realized it was a female... a very pretty female usdia. He paused, once more pondering how to approach the lovely pony, and then shrugged to himself. What better way to start a conversation than a polite, if cheerful, greeting? And with that thought in mind, he spoke.
"Hello, there!" He approached the female slowly, not wishing to scare her as he'd scared the blue jay earlier. "What brings a lovely creature as yourself out in this weather?" A moment, and then, "My apologies. My name is Sethos. And who am I speaking with this bright day?" Upon closer inspection, she was actually more purple than pink, but either way, she was a purple-ish pink sorta of little mare, and he himself wasn't exactly "normal" colored. He briefly remembered being told that he resembled a very beautiful bird--called a Resplendent Quetzal or something--and then shrugged the thought away. He was with company; having wandering thoughts did not bode well with females when he ought to pay attention.
He had long forgotten that he was supposed to be foraging, so fascinated he was by this female. She was, perhaps, the first Usdia mare he'd come across since... well, since quite a long time. Now that he thought of it, she had looked like she'd been looking for food... He searched his mind, but came up with nothing. He suddenly realized he, too, had been looking for food... and he had none to offer this female, who probably needed it more than he did. Ah, this weather... He sighed mentally, feeling somewhat foolish. Why was he acting all... foolishly... anyway...?

Goodness! There she was, idly thinking of her someday, somewhere Prince and she stumbled across a brightly hued male! Oddly, he looked exactly like a rather exotic bird, and for a moment her little cheeks flushed thinking that he might have heard her chiding the bird and think she was talking to him.
She realised that he'd answered and that she was gawping a little and giving herself a little shake, smiled happily and spoke.
'And hello to you!' she said, feeling giddy inside at being described as a 'lovely creature'. She tried to get a handle on herself before she got carried away and spoke again.
'My name is Parfait. It is very good to meet you Sethos. And as to why I'm out in this most marvellous weather? I'm attempting to find some food that our higher cousins might have missed.' she poked her tongue out and then giggled.

He smiled warmly at her, and bowed his head slightly. "I am honored to meet such a lovely mare as yourself, Parfait. If it's food you're scouting for, I may have some spare juicy apples to your taste I found a little while ago?" He discreetly--or attempted to, at least--blew a stray hair out of his eyes, wondering what else he could do to make Parfait feel more comfortable.
He decided she had a beautiful giggle, and he mentally bashed his head against a tree trunk. Perhaps because he was so used to solitude, he was already charmed by such a cute mare like Parfait. Still, it was rare for him to find such a gentle creature as her, and he couldn't help but to develop instantaneous feelings. It was certainly the most oddest thing he'd felt yet.

'Apples? Really?' Parfait perked up, well, perked up even more at the mention of fruit.
'Oh, I don't remember the last time I had a lovely, juicy apple.' she murmured and then blushed, her nose going red, a nice contrast to her pink-purple face.
'That would be very generous of you to share them with me. Thank you Sethos.' she said prettily, giving her mane and tail a little shake. She was determined to act just as cute and dainty as she could be, at least that way she could say she had tried to secure herself a Prince!
