Haukea ambled peacefully along a path. It was a cool day, very bright and sunny. A perfect day for a walk. Her new home was a wonderful place, full of surprises and mysteries. Ruffling her wings as she walked, she noticed a shape up ahead of her. A new mystery to explore, how interesting! Walking a little faster, she made her way towards the shape, which cleared itself into being the outline of a soquili. Hmmm....perhaps she should slow down...

With a slight huff, Fairweather shook out his mane. He had just come from a nearby human village, a trip he made every few months. To him, the idea of being confined with those humans all the time was far too stifling. He was a wild stallion by nature. However, the way they had wrapped up his hair when he had been a foal born to them made it so he always had to journey back to have it fixed. Hanging around his neck, his dreads were clean and newly tightened. If he ignored this ritual, his mane could easily become a ratty, unmanageable mess.
Glancing forward, he was all but ready to find somewhere to take a rest. His head was a little sore. But before he could fully decide, something caught his attention. Blinking, he peered to the side in time to see something rushing for him. Eyes widened.

Haukea skidded to a stop. Oh my, that could've been embarrassing! She smiled sheepishly and nodded to the Soquili in greeting. "Hello there. I'm Haukea. I'm new to these lands. How are you?"
The mare gave the other a friendly smile, inviting a nice conversation to start. She was a friendly mare, not at all shy and very patient. She shifted slightly to stand at a more comfortable angle for the other Soquili to see that she was no threat.

It had looked for a moment like she was going to crash right into him. Snorting, he stepped back defensively. Luckily, she had been able to stop after all. But that didn't change the sharp look of distrust on his face as he watched her. What was this woman talking about? Diving into a friendly spiel as if nothing unusual had just happened. Or as if he was the kind of guy who was interested in such conversation.
"What?" was the first thing he could get out of his mouth. It sounded completely disbelieving. "You almost run into me and then turn it around like a normal day?" The normal scowl returned to his face. "Can't say I'm so great after that."

The mare gave him a sheepish smile. She hadn't meant to startle him. Maybe she should apologize? Yes, that sounded about right.
"Sorry about that! I get excited about meeting new faces. Like I said, I'm new here myself. Oh! Umm, I didn't hurt you did I?"
She was beginning to calm down now and settle into her usual placid temperament. Generally the meeting new Soq was one of the few things that jolted her out of her calm state. It was really rare for her to be anything other than that. Ah well! Live and learn right?

A silence fell over the stallion as he watched her, his expression no longer shifting, but an obvious question showing in his eyes. What the heck was up with this girl? He still couldn't decide. Maybe he was being too judgmental, but then again, that's the way he always was. It was hardly unusual. Eventually he let out a huff, shaking his head and glancing to the side as if he just wasn't sure what to say.
"No," he finally answered, flicking an ear. "It's fine, I guess." She hadn't done much more than startle him, no physical harm or another. "Just be more careful next time, would you?" He stopped, frown deepening. That almost seemed like an invitation to come see him again sometime. That was definitely an accident.
