The clock had struck midnight and the princess was gone. Alexis had been worried about Istas and the little sailor scout she'd seen screaming and crying, though unaware the child was a sailor scout.
However, Dogby in the whole commotion hadn't been forgotten. She'd been keeping the animal safe and waited for Tony. When everything died down she blinked and looked around, where was Tony?
She carefully looked for the man, she needed to return his dog!

Tony was laying on the ground, catching his breath. Everything was quiet, and he stayed still until he was sure most of the crowd had vanished. He sat up at length, hand over his wound. It was a small one, though it had bled eagerly, perhaps simply to make itself look more dangerous than it really was.
He sighed, looking around and spotting Alexis.
Getting to his feet, wobbling on unsteady legs, he limped over toward her and offered her a thin, shaken smile.
"A-are you okay?" he asked, clearing his throat in an effort to rid himself of the stammer. He saw the bag she held, and knew Dogby was inside it. Her scared whimpering, which was much softer now that things were quieter, told him that she was okay. Hopefully uninjured, but very scared.

Alexis noticed Tony laying there, and started heading over towards him. However she didn't move fast as his poor pet was whimpering inside of it.
She nodded softly, "Yes. I'm fine." She said softly looking at the bag, "I think you're puppy might be worse off." She paused and gave Tony a once over, he didn't look good himself.
She shook her head, "Do you have a car, or would you like a ride?" She asked curiously.

Tony nodded his head, sighing.
"If you wouldn't mind... I walked here, and I don't think I would really like to walk back." Not without his cane, and his side hurting like it was. He would really rather just get home as fast as possible, take a warm bath, have a drink and go to bed.
He heard Dogby whimpering again and saw her pop her head out of the bag, looking up at Alexis with a very worried expression on her face. Who was this person? Where was her master or the other boy? It didn't take the puppy long to spot Tony, and started wiggling, kicking her stumpy legs and whining, to get to him.
Tony moved closer to them, smiling awkwardly and looking quizzical before he moved to take Dogby from the bag and hold her carefully. She was shivering and it broke Tony's heart to see the puppy so scared and cold. He wondered if she would have been better off somewhere else, though he wanted to keep her safe. He wasn't sure his life, full of monsters and super powered kids, was one befitting dog ownership.
"Y-you sure you're okay?" He asked again, knowing she had just said so but he couldn't help but be worried. Over worried. Crazy things had just happened, after all.

Alexis smiled, "I don't mind at all." She replied with a nod of her head. "I parked this way."
She pointed and waited for Tony before she started moving, feeling like if he needed help she should help him. She watched poor dogby as she wiggled and started kicking to get to Tony. "Aww poor girl." She said softly offering her hand for the corgi to sniff.
"Yes, maybe a bit baffled by the large woman in the fountain and somewhat trifled that at least one of my students was out here without their parents." She frowned, "I'm not sure I have the power to talk to her parents though... since I'm just the art teacher."

Tony nodded, walking with her slowly. He didn't have his cane, and was feeling very sore, so it was slow going. It made him feel guilty, being so slow. Like he should have been stronger, or more clever, and he wouldn't have left feeling like he was eighty years old and had run a marathon.
Maybe he just needed to work out more.
Dogby licked at Alexis' hand timidly, nuzzling it for affection and attention. She was scared, but she knew that hands on her head meant comfort, and that was what she wanted.
"Ah, well, if you feel like it is your duty, I don't think your job should get in the way," he said thoughtfully, "if you're worried about her, I mean. And ah... yes... the woman in the fountain certainly was... ah... interesting," and yet for some reason, he didn't sound as surprised or confused as he probably should have. Of course, he had taken on a 'well, this is Destiny City' kind of attitude toward strange occurrences.
"I am glad you weren't hurt in all the chaos, though."

Alexis smiled as Dogby licked her hand. She softly scratched the pup's ears. "Though I didn't get a chance to ask if she was with a sitter." Alexis said with a pause then she frowned, "I'd hate just to assume."
She gave a soft chuckle, "I'm not sure interesting is the word I'd use. But it does fit the situation."
She nodded, "Mmm... What about you?" She asked tilling her head, "Anything in need of treating?"

Tony nodded thoughtfully.
"It's not wrong of you to worry about your students. Especially young ones, they're at risk in this city. It's such a strange and often terrible place, it doesn't exactly discriminate in who gets wrapped up in the insanity," he sighed, finding himself worrying about whoever the little kid had been. He had been so wrapped up in things, however, that he hadn't taken a note.
In fact, most of the faces he had seen there were now blurs in his mind, lost in all the chaos of the evening, and to how tired he was feeling.
He looked at his side, which was bloody, but not life threatening. It was a wicked looking cut, but the icicle that had hit him had only grazed by his skin and left it open, but not deep. His fingers were cold, the hand that had been partially frozen now free of the ice, but looking discolored as if it had been bruised.
"I think I'll live," he decided, offering her a warm smile.

Alexis smiled, "Yes they are, sadly though, not all their parents can pick up and move. Shame they're so innocent in all this."
She was looking at his side curiously, "Yes, at least nothing too bad anyways." She gave a nod as she walked with him giving dogby occasional scratches. When they reached her car she hit the unlock button. "I'm amazed the cold didn't kill it." She mentioned thoughtfully.

Tony chuckled, nodding his head.
"Maybe your car wants to get out of here was much as we do, and that's why it's not willing to let the cold kill it. Or perhaps we're just lucky." He waited for her to invite him to sit down before going into her car, not wanting to impose even though she had invited him.
"I've had a car die in a spectacular way. A giant monster cat ripped it up. I think it was a cat, anyway. It seemed like an eternity ago now."
He frowned, thoughtfully.
There had been a lot of strange things happening in this city, and yet he couldn't leave it. Not now, not ever. Not because he was stuck in his job, but because he was too interested in those strange things. No matter how dangerous they were: he wasn't the one who had to go out and fight monsters every night for people who considered him a terrorist. He stayed because, in the back of his mind, he hoped one day to be useful to them.

Alexis nodded with a lighthearted chuckle. "Indeed, or it's ready for the warmth of the garage one."
She paused watching him curiously as he described the way his car had died. "That is unfortunate." She frowned thinking about it. "I hope my car doesn't end up like that."
She tilted her head as she waited for him to get in, "Are you going to stand out there and freeze or get a ride home?" She asked in a curious manner.

"I? Oh. No! I'm going to. Uh. Thank you," he shook his head, cursing himself silently for being awkward, though it was really impossible for him to act any other way. Something in him just clicked and he couldn't help himself, even when he wasn't aware of it, to miss a beat or do something silly.
He made to sit down in the passenger seat, looking down at Dogby. She wasn't as perky as she normally was, waggling her tail slowly now that she felt some warmth beyond the bag and the bodies she had been cuddled in.
Tony pat her on the head, scratching behind her ears reassuringly. She licked his fingers timidly, as if to say that she was still there, and did still love him, but she was just scared. The poor little thing. Not a great start for her life with the Darrows.
He looked at Alexis, offering directions if she needed them.

Of course Alexis asked about directions, figuring he stayed at more than just the library but it was better to ask where than to assume.
She drove with care and watched out for particularly icy roads "How's your corgi doing?" She asked curiously peering over at the bag Dogby was hiding in when they were at a red light.
She had waited just a little to turn on the heat to the car since it was so cold it took a moment to warm up. She waited for the light and made sure of where she was going occasionally she was trying to give Tony time to talk if he wanted. After all she wasn't sure what to discuss after some random ice woman, that was the size of king-kong tried to kill them, it was a rather hard subject to top.

Tony looked at Alexis, then looked down at Dogby.
She had her head out of the bag, just resting on it. Her ears were perked forward, and she looked at Alexis tilting her head to the side and whimpering. She wanted Alexis to pet her, though she didn't understand the concept of driving and hands being needed on wheels.
Tony smiled, petting Dogby.
"She's fine. She's not shaking like she was. I think she's feeling safe now, which is good. I felt so bad for her. Poor thing, I don't think that's what she was expecting on her walk." He wondered if she would want to go on walks any more, after that, though he supposed she would forget soon enough. He wasn't an expert on dogs, however.
Tony didn't seem too keen on talking, though, his mind absent. He watched the road as she drove, or watching Dogby, who climbed out of his lap slowly to go over and sit with Alexis.

Alexis could at least manage a car with one hand when there was a need for it. Which included the moment Dogby seemed to want attention from her, giving the pup a soft pet on the head when they were a stop light so as not swerve while the car was actually moving.
"I'm glad she's alright," Alexis smiled, "I was hoping I'd kept her safe enough. It was really scary out there." She let the conversation be guided by Tony and how much he actually felt like talking. It was something she was often good at, being a teacher, even if it was just an art teacher, she'd learned to listen and take cues when someone wanted to talk and didn't.
She chuckled when Dogby crawled into her lap. As long as Dogby didn't actually do anything to the steering wheel Alexis seemed pretty content to leave the animal where it was as she occasionally reached a hand to rub the corgi before placing it back on the steering wheel.
