She liked to wander. Sometimes strange noises or sights would send her running back to familiar things, but not today. Atiya lifted her nose to the clean breeze and took a nice long whiff, enjoying the myriad scents it carried as well as the falling leaves that liked to tickle her face on the way down. Her head tilted. There were other soquili close by, the scents told her, and she sniffed deeper to find out more, tyring to ascertain exactly where they were, and who.

The stallion let out a breath, tossing his long hair over his neck, spilling over and covering his markings. The last attempt to woo a mare had gone south; the healing mark on his side showed the pitiful outcome of it. Bested by a mare... his father would repremand him so hard for it.

The young stallion shook his head again with a sigh. He was not his father's son... he was a mixture of both Drad and Echo, but behaved more like Echo. Not something his father really liked.

A scent came to his nose and he paused, head lifting. A mare... and not one he knew either. He walked towards the smell, keeping hidden under the leaves.

He came across her and tilted his head curiously at her. She was white... but there seemed to be a bit of pink to her. She was rather beautiful, he'd give her that.

And course, being him, he simply watched her from the shadows. Like a creeper.

Hm. Definitely not someone she knew. She sniffed again. Where? The strongest scent was a stallion, for sure. That way! She looked straight at him, not seeing him right away, but sure he was in that direction, and close. She stepped forward carefully, ready to run if it turned out to be one of the insanely and irredeemably vicious types she'd heard about. She wasn't certain of their existence as such; she was of the opinion that nearly anyone was salvageable...still, she knew it was possible that some could be so inherently evil that they had no interest in anything else.

Res wasnt expecting the mare to get so close. He was actually expending her to run in terror, thinking he was a Kalona or something.

So when the mare stepped forward and ran her nose very much into his neck, he was just a little surprised. Which he would later blame his horrid reaction on.

Res snorted in surprise, rearing slightly and accidently kicking her in the leg with his hoof. He trotted backwards, tossing his head.

"Oh..." he cursed under his breath. "Sorry about that, miss. I wasn't expecting you to get so... close..." He said weakly, ears pressing against his head.

Atiya jumped hard, too, leaving her laughing breathlessly at herself. The kick had hurt - she'd check for blood when he wasn't looking - but she understood his reaction given what had just taken place, so she smiled through her laughter to let him know all was forgiven. "It's okay. I'm sorry I scared you. Seem to have myself all freaked out, too." He certainly didn't look how she had heard a kalona described, and was certainly not a skinwalker, so her nerves settled somewhat.

She ran through the proper meeting steps in her head and it seemed next was..."I'm Atiya. It's, uh, nice to meet you."

Res watched her for a moment, bright eyes just taking her in. It was after a moment of her babbling did he respond to her introduction with one of his own.

"Formally, Dusk's Resonance. But Res or Resonance is fine." The young stallion walked out of the shadows, giving his head a gentle shake and shifting the hair falling over his neck. He watched her again with a bit of curiousity as he continued to speak. "What brings you out here Atiya?

"Good question. I suppose I just like exploring new places. I've been interested in finding a few friends, lately, too." She looked at him thoughtfully. Maybe he'd like to be friends?
However, she didn't like to ask straight out. Perhaps it felt too bold of a move. She would wait to see what happened. What did she know of him, anyway? They'd just met. "Do you live around here?"

She also thought he was quite handsome, but that was another thing that she didn't dare say aloud.

He nodded, watching her. A good looking mare, by all standards. Would give him good children, if light colored, or more white than dark tones. Hmm...

Res you just met the mare, SHUSH IT.

"No. I don't really live anywhere? I roam mostly," he replied, not quite wanting to add "So I can find good mare that will give me good lookin' kids." Oh yes, that would go over sooooooooo well. So well.

"Hm."

She got stuck. So stuck, in fact, that she began to laugh at the silliness of the situation, and had to admit to some embarassment. "I'm sorry," she said between laughs, "I don't know what else to say!"

She did manage, once she regained her composure, to tell him she liked his name. It reminded her of a warm wind through the trees, or a voice in a cave. Obviously, that wasn't what it meant, and she knew that, but that's how it felt.

Res chuckled and smiled, shaking his head. "Its fine Atiya," he told her, ears flicking. Through her laughting fit, he'd forced a lock onto his silly little mind and shove all that was his father away and into the little box in the back of his mind. Satisfied he wasn't going to come onto her or what not, he tuned back into the conversation at hand.

He blinked and chuckled. "Well, thanks, I like my name too. And yours is pretty as well." He looked around and then grinned. "There's a place just up ahead I do like to stay in, so I suppose you could call it a home," he said walking forwards abit.

"Come on, I'll show ya."

Atiya was grateful for the change from stalemate to direction. "Cool, sure!" she replied, moving forward with him after a moment. "I'll bet it's nice," she added. "Is there anyone you stay with, or is it just you?" She tripped slightly, redirecting her attention for a brief moment, but she came back quickly, smirking at her goof. Pick up your feet, silly, she reminded herself.

He watched her for a moment. Res' mind flicked around as he walked. She was a good little mare, if a little... ditzy, it seemed? Atiya was very nice, and Res liked her, in the friend sort of way.

Friends. He liked this concept.

"No, its just me." he said as they came through the trees to the small meadow he called 'home' from time to time. "Here we are." He stepped to the side ot let her get a better view. It wasn't spectacular, but the trees shelded it from most of the wind, and it was just big enough for him and a few others.

Hm. Should I say it?

You know....being alone isn't all bad...but sometimes I get lonely." She looked at him meaningfully, her eyes asking, Do you? I imagine you must.

She looked away, leaving him room to respond - or not - without feeling pressured.

His head titlted to the side as he watched her. She was an.. odd mare, but a nice one. He was sure there was a bit of a under lying question to her words, but couldn't exactly figure what it was out. Res wasn't too worried about it.

He was probably one of a few friends she had or something. Again, he wasn't too worried about it. She didn't (or wasn't) bringing out his "Little One" genes, and for this he was grateful.

Res really didn't want to have to deal with that as well.

"As would anyone without the presence of friends or companions," he said to her after a moment.

"Hm."
Once again out of anything to say, she thought for a minute. "You want to go find something to eat? I'm pretty sure I saw a blackberry patch not far from where I met you." Why the heck was she at such a loss today? She couldn't figure it out.
