 Ebonyrose pranced around the meadow with a seashell hanging from her horn. She probably would go back to the shore again soon, but for now she was amusing herself with her keepsake from the last trip. Around and around she spun the shell on her horn and around in a circle she went running trying not to spin it off the end of her horn. After a while of this she lays down on the grass and puts the shell in front of her while she rolls in the flowers. There were lots of interesting things to explore, but for now she was in a playful mood. She would explore more after a bit of mindless playing. The conk shell goes back on her horn as soon as she stops rolling and she lays with her legs tucked under her, spinning the shell some more.

 Flying overhead Hipelagan had a bird's eye view of the world. She loved it. Seeing everything, but not being seen. She often saw interesting things that Hipelagan thought she might not otherwise. As such, she noticed a black soquili rolling around in a meadow. Was the other hurt? She decided to find out and offer assistance if she could. Gliding down to land, she did her best not to kick up too much debris from her wings. "Um, excuse me, are you ok?" Hipelagan saw when she got closer that the other soq was female like herself, but unlike she had a horn and no wings.

Ebonyrose was not aware of being watched until the other spoke. She blinks and looks around, letting the shell stop spinning on her horn. "Me? Oh, yes, I'm wonderful! How are you?!" She jumps up, the shell falling, forgotten to the ground for the moment, and rushes over to inspect the new arrival. Curiosity had her looking at everything from the wings to the markings. "Your wings are so pretty! What's it like to fly?"
In the excitement of having a new Soquili show up, Ebonyrose seemed to have forgotten her manners. "Your markings are so bright and colorful!" It took her a moment of squeeing and question shooting before she remembered herself. "Oh, dear, how rude of me. I'm Ebonyrose... nice to meet you." She ducked her head bashfully and tucked it half behind her shoulder in embarrassment, peeking out to see if Hipelagan was mad at her.

Hipelagan blinked back. Now what? Her eye caught the shell falling to the ground. What? She grinned. "Oh that's good. I saw you rolling, and thought you might of needed some help. I'm doing well myself, thanks for asking."
She stood stock still and let the other look her over. Her neck arched at the compliment to her wings. "Thanks! Flying is..... I donno. It takes your breath away." Hipelagan felt sorry that this mare would never experience it.
Her head bobbed happily, as she seemed to have no problem keeping up with the squeeing and rapid fire questions. It was nice to be appreciated! "It's ok. I'm Hipelagan. Please to meet you too, Ebonyrose. I like that colorful thing on you're chest." She lowered her head for a closer look at the glowy.
"What were you doing with that thing that fell off you're horn?" She walked over until she found the shell where it had fallen.

Ebony giggled at how Hipelagan described flying. It must be really something if the other female could not think how to describe it. Then again that was how she imagined swimming must be for her friend Ric whom was a mer. She figured that both these things must be wonderful.
She blushed at the compliment about her gem. "It is just all glowy... nothing special really... it just kinda glows and is there." She giggles and goes over to pick up the shell again. "This was a gift from a mer friend... I make it spin on my horn... it's amusing." She spun the shell on her horn to show the other mare what she meant.

Hipelagan laughed. "Sure its special! Why shouldn't it be? I don't have anything like that. It could be special you know. You just haven't found out yet." She nodded, pleased with herself. What wonders could that little glowing gem hold.
"Aaaawwwww gifts are nice. That's a neat trick. I don't have a horn at all. It must be hard to keep it on like that." The mare admired the dexterity Ebony showed with her horn.

Ebony blushes and hides her head behind her own hip. The fact that the other mare thought something on Ebony was special made her slightly embarrassed. "It really isn't special... Having wings is special... my horn might be special... but not this glowy thing." She made a face as she looked at the gem on her chest again.
"I love gifts from Ric, he's so nice and gives me such pretty things! It takes practice, but once you get the hang of it, it is not so bad..." She giggled, her previous embarrassment now forgotten. The mention of Ric tended to make her forget everything else. "The only problem is getting dizzy from spinning your head!" She spun the shell a few more times and pranced about again. "It is a game I learned when I was young... but then it was a ring that I had found. This is more fun."

Hipel wiggled her tail happily. Complimenting the other mare and seeing her reaction made her feel good too. "It's glowing. So, it's gotta be special. Horns are special too. My wings only let me fly. Anyone with big enoug wings can do it." To her, the ability of flight seemed very common.
"That's so sweet. You're lucky to find someone nice." Hipel cocked her head as Ebony mentioned practice. It made sense. She had to practice a lot to master flying the way she did. If you lived with something long enough it became ordinary or normal to you.
She laughed with Ebony, "Oh no! Dizzy and you can't walk straight. I get dizzy sometimes when I fly in loops. It's so hard to fly straight after that." Which made it wise not to do it close to the ground. She smiled at her fellow mare.

Ebonyrose giggled and looked over at the other mare. "Ric is perfect! He's a mer! He gets to swim around all day, and he brings me all these wonderful shells and tells me about the interesting things under the water! I wish I could see it all." She got a wistful look in her eyes as she thought about it. "There's such wonders that he's seen. I wish I could see them too." And she did very much wish she could see the things Ric the mer spoke of.
Ric's world and Ebony's were very different, but he was the nicest male she'd ever met. There were other males she knew of course, but none of them were like Ric. They were all her friends, but Ric was special. He never teased her for being embarrassed or anything either. "What up there, are there any wonderful things to see in the sky? Or do you know anyone that's had such wonderful adventures?!"

She blinked. "A mer? What's a mer?" Swimming all day sounded fun, but wet feathers weren't. "Oooooooh. I take it he can swim really deep then?" Hipel looked up at Ebonyrose's question. What was up there? "Well there's the clouds. They aren't firm at all. They're so easy to fly through, unless their storm clouds. Then you have to be careful with up and down drafts. And the higher you go the further you can see, but everything gets so tiny." She shook her head, "no not really."
