They just want to conform to something, because they are incappable of independant thought. They don't want to face the fact that they don't belong and try to insert themselves into a false reality. Ergo, if they "cut" once they are now part of the "emo" group.

i hate it when they lie about that and they may think it is kinda funny which it isnt. And when some1 says"oh i cut myself" and they only did it once but they dnt dress emo/scene and they think tht they are emo just cuze they cut themselfs and i tink tht is dumb 2 say about -__-

And when some1 says"oh i cut myself" and they only did it once but they dnt dress emo/scene and they think tht they are emo just cuze they cut themselfs and i tink tht is dumb 2 say about -__- That was mean before becuase i cutted myself and i weared dark makeup and listined to really dark music but i use to wear pink green blue and black but then people called me out on it then i relized i wasnt emo then i changed my whole emo image by wearing more black clothes.. and being more emo...POWER TO THE EMOS/SECNES!!!!!!! xp scream stressed

UGH! i freaking hate posers! They're all like, "man, my life is horrible, imma go cut myself." and then they don't do it! or they do it for freaking attention! it just gives the rest of us a bad name. posers are the reason that so many people are incorrectly labled "emo" and they are the reason why the stereotype for emos is so widely accepted. i believe that posers helped to create that stereotype. okay, my rant for the day is now over.

People think all you gotta do is dress in black and wear dark makeup and stuff. But it's all about the mental state of a person that determines if they are emo or not. stare I hate peole who think like that.
