Good things come to those who wait. So does frost bite, of course. But... Jayhk had a feeling. It was an odd nebulous thing, that happened every so often, but it always paid off. If it paid off because his feeling was right, or just because waiting anywhere long enough could net something good, he wasn't sure. But since it had never failed him he was standing...out in the snow. He figured he probably looked like another snow drift himself, since he had been out there since the storm began. Or was that the last storm. No matter, it had stopped snowing a few hours ago. He just... had...to... wait. Something good would surely come.... right?

Frost picked her way nimbly through the thick snow, glad that the storm had finally ended. Not that she had minded it. The solitude had been nice, while she was holed up in the cave. Now, however, she was thirsty and hungry. It would be tricky, she knew, to find anything green in all this snow, but she was a patient and through forager. She knew where to look and what to look for. It was only because she was paying close attention to her surroundings that she noticed the mound by the base of the tree. The one that showed glimpses of black and.... blue?
With a curious frown, she ventured closer, cautiously in case it was a trap of some kind. She nudged some of the snow away until she found the source of the strange colors.

Eyes slowly opened. When had they closed, he wondered. He looked up at the mare above him. Why was she so tall? Oh, he was laying down. When in the world had that happened. Still, she was a radiant sight. Like a goddess carved from snow. Good things came to those that waited, and here she was, about the best thing he could imagine. He would keep the memory of her forever in his mind, even if she left and he never saw her again. He was thankful just to have been able to spy such beauty. He tried to tell her how radiant she was but all that came out was "......pretty....." how... eloquent. He wanted to be disgusted with himself, but disgust had no place in this vision's presence. Besides, it was awful hard to think at the moment...

Well... clearly the creature was delirious. Frost studied him for a moment before sighing softly. There was nothing she could do. He was clearly nearly frozen to death. She looked around until she spotted her raccoon familiar, Glaze, watching her from the branches of a tree. She nodded at the stallion and left Glaze to dig out the snow from around him while she gathered firewood. She couldn't move him. He was too large, and she was too small. But she COULD build a fire to help warm him up. Hopefully, if he just got a bit of warmth, he'd be able to move, and she could get him to someone better able to help him.

He watched her, then followed her gaze to Glaze. It took him several long moments before he realized what the small creature was doing. Oh, right. Getting out of the snow would be a good idea... He started trying to help get himself free, but his muscles moved slow, sluggish. Like his thoughts. And it was hard to focus too much anyway. So he looked until he saw the beauty again. He focused on her. That was easy. And pleasant.

Glaze worked quickly and began clearing the snow away from the area around him while Frost dragged some logs over. Once she had a nice pile going, Glaze got to work starting a fire with some flint that he'd swiped from a village they passed once. Frost never asked where he had gotten it from. She had learned a long time ago that, when she asked him questions, he answered.
She frowned at the stallion who was clearly trying to stand, and nudged him back down. "Rest," she ordered, her tone clearer than it usually was when speaking to a stranger.

He blinked, then nodded. Who wouldn't, when told to so forcefully by such a vision. He watched her as he settled back down, trying to shake snow from his wings.

Once Frost was satisfied that the fire was blazing warmly, she wiggled her way between him and the tree, so that one of his sides would be warmed by the fire, and her own body heat would warm his other side.

"Thank you," he murmured, feeling his brain thaw as his whole body heated. Especially his face, which followed her motions. He couldn't take his eyes off of her, he was enraptured. How could some one so lovely even exist? And how badly was her mate going to pound him when he found them together like this? Oh well, it would be worth it. Steeling his courage, he looked away from her...so he could risk resting his head against her. Would she allow it...?

She stiffened the slightest bit, uncertain how to handle his apparent affection. Until she reminded herself that he was half frozen and just looking for a bit of warmth. She forced herself to relax and, for a moment, wished that she was softer, like her more normal ceryni brethren. Instead, she had crystalized fur. That couldn't be overly comfortable for him.
Frost sighed a bit and pushed these thoughts out of her mind. There was nothing she could do about it for now. She glanced at Glaze and the familiar accepted the silent request for food. That was the nice thing about Glaze, Frost had found. He understood her well enough to not need words. He scampered off to finish foraging.

She let him stay close.... he was ecstatic. Thrilled. But now that he was warming up, he was also thinking more. It was easier, though the feeling returning to his limbs was so painful he almost wished for the numbness of being frozen again. However, if he waited by the fire, and by her, the pain would leave him. That would be a relief. And there were more things to be patient about. Having leaned his head against her so soon was too forward. Too much too soon.
Oh, he knew it was all academic, that he had just this short time with her, and that he should enjoy it before her mate came to kill him, but he couldn't help it. A gentlestallion did not rush a fair lady so. No, patience, a slow courting worthy of her. And even if he could not actually be with her beyond this, he would not do her the disservice of rushing her. Especially as he did not want her to feel she was betraying one to whom her heart was already pledged. No, better he harm his own heart then cause her even a moment of discomfort.

Frost was completely unaware of the thoughts going through the stallion's mind. She was just grateful that he was too cold to chatter at her. It was one thing to give him an order when he clearly wasn't capable of disobeying her. It'd be another entirely if he tried to strike up a conversation with her. She realized that she should probably ask him if he was feeling alright, but she couldn't bring herself to voice the question. As it was, she was enjoying the silence. Too soon, he'd ruin it and prove that he didn't want to be around her, or that he was as vicious as some she had met.

He spent a long while, just content to be with her, and warm. Finally he judged it enough time to take the first small tentative step. One at a time, patience, calmness, do not rush her. These things which were normally first and second nature to him now took such effort. "May I know the name of my angelic savior?" he asked her softly, once he was confidant that his teeth were no longer chattering.

Well, at least he was feeling better enough to speak. It was a silly thing to ask, though.
"F....f...Frost," she mumbled, slipping out of her comfort zone.

He gave a warm smile. Frost. How fitting, how... perfect. Frost. The name tasted like a candy in his mouth, like the sweetest of flowers. Frost. And it suited her too. Her magnificent coat looked like an ice sculpture, walking living breathing art. He gave a small contented sigh. How many got to know such beauty in their lives?
