Kiyoshi wasn't one for crowds, in fact he tried to avoid them the best that he could but having a son had forced him to face them more often then he would normally do so of late. He found himself going shopping to get him clothing, toys, and the like often enough, they would have to deal with crowds then and today they were at a rather crowded gathering that Tatsuo had seen advertisements for on the television, wanting to go to it to see the animals. It had a lot of shop stalls set up selling all manner of things, there rides off to one direction, a petting zoo, a lot of flashy performers in another direction, and countless other things to look at. It was all a bit much for Kiyoshi who was used to standing within the calming confines of an archery range but he couldn't force his lifestyle on his son just as his parents hadn't forced theirs on Kiyoshi.

Taking a deep breath he started forward, handing some money to a man in a booth so that the two of them could get stamps on their hands that allowed for them to get in and ride the rides since he'd paid for the unlimited rides pass. He could only hope that Tatsuo didn't want to ride to many of them since he wasn't sure what he thought of the look of many of them, they looked a bit to fast for his liking, his hair was sure to end up a mess...

"Where do we want to go first?" He asked of the boy who was clinging to his side, finding it quite funny and a little cute. His son wanted so badly to come here and now that they were here he was acting quite shy, clinging close to him, but at least he was looking around at everything which was a good sign. At least he was no longer hiding against his chest as he used to do after he was first born, likely he'd gone out enough that he was started to meet more people and get used to them? He hoped that soon enough he would be wanting to go out and about on is own... well not to soon though, he wasn't quite ready to let go of his son. Maybe in the future perhaps?

"I... I would like to see the animals." He said, looking up at his Daddy, "They... they said that we could pet them and feed them. I want to feed a pony." He said, the television made it sound like the most amazing thing ever and he just had to be there!

Kiyoshi smiled and started in that direction, glad that he had opted for jeans, sneakers, and regular long sleeves for the both of them, both in dark colors, as this trip seemed like one that would end up a bit dirty if they were going to be playing with a bunch of animals.

Someone was already AT the gathering. He'd had his father pay for unlimited passes to the festival... which was a fair sum of money, but paid for eats, games, and rides all the way throughout. He was currently over at the 'Animals Alive' section of the fair, throwing coins into a bucket to try and win a rabbit... Or five. So far, he'd won two. One little black-and-white male, and a little white-spotted-brown female. He was going for the others, because he hated to see animals in cages like that - even if they WERE allowed to run around in the hay.
He tossed another coin, and landed it in the bucket, upon which the person running the booth lifted a third rabbit into the cloth cage holding his other two winnings, and he was back for more.

As he threw, his striped tail lashed back and forth with concentration, and one ear was pulled back, which gave him a rather cutely lopsided look. All the younger kids were crowding around Nani just now, hoping that - since he seemed to have infinite luck [or just good luck] that he'd deign to win them a rabbit. Of course, Nani was more than happy to oblige. His father had quite a bit of money, and he was walking around with almost 300 dollars in change and cash. Not that he'd let anyone SEE that - kept it well hidden.

"AND ANOTHER ONE FOR THE BOY WITH THE STRIPED EARS!"

Called the one who ran the stall, ringing a bell, and lifting another rabbit into the cloth cage - a little white-and-black female this time, to go with the previously won black male.

"FOUR RABBITS HAVE BEEN WON BY THIS YOUNG MAN! THAT'S RIGHT, THIS YOUNG MAN IS TAKING HOME FOOOOOUR RABBITS! COME WATCH HOW EASY IT IS TO TAKE HOME YOUR OWN BUNNY! STEP RIGHT UP AND WIN A RABBIT!"

Tatsuo paused for a moment, turning to look toward the one who was yelling rather loud about rabbits before he looked toward the 'Boy with the Striped Ears' that was winning all of the rabbits before his eyes went wide, "Ah!" Wait! That was the boy from the party! He looked up at his Daddy, reaching up to catch hold of his hand to tug on it, "Hey, hey! Look!" He said, lifting a hand to point over at the where the cat eared boy from the party was standing, seeming to be winning all of the bunnies the place had to offer.

Kiyoshi looked in the direction that his son was pointing at, tilting his head to one side in a curious manner, wondering what it was that had gotten his attention, "Ohh, I see." He murmured, giving a smile. He watched for a moment and couldn't help but to wonder if Nani was working with those men, after all from what he'd heard carnival games were impossible to win at, "We don't have any space at the moment for a Rabbit but you can go and look at them if you want." He said finally.

Giving an eager nod of his head that yes he want to see the bunny, as well as see the cat eared boy, Tatsuo started forward. He was holding on tightly to Kiyoshi's hand so as not to lose him as they made their way forward to where the other boy was playing the rabbit winning game. He did like the rabbits, they were so cute! He new that their place was to small for a bunny though he thought to himself before giving a smile as he got closer enough to look at the bunny, "S-So cute!" He said as he inspected them, looking up at his Nani, "You are very lucky." How lucky to get to have so many bunnies!

Tatsuo looked at them again before asking, "Can... Can I pet one of them?" He asked, wanting to see what a bunny felt like but knew he had to ask first since they weren't his bunnies.

Behind the pair Kiyoshi found himself looking Nani over, thinking of the last time he'd seen him, and realized that a lot of his friends he'd out grown him... how strange, it made him wonder if the other boy would even recognize him anymore. He didn't say anything, wouldn't say anything, if he didn't though as he would understand completely since it had been some time since then and he'd changed a lot.

Nani turned and grinned at the child, motioning to the booth tender to give the little black male to the boy who wanted to see one... INSIDE the enclosure of course. Don't want the bunny running off if he were going to drop it, even on accident. But then Nani turned around once again... and spotted a familiar face. Older - much older face... but familiar.

"Kiyoshi?" he asked, mostly to himself... before he set a handful of coins down for other people to try and win the rabbits, and meandered over that way. His tail twitched eagerly as he looked over the friend he hadn't seen in.. a long, long time. Still friends, though! At least he considered himself so.

In order to show that he DID remember him, once he arrived there, he dropped on one knee, as he had so long ago, then rose, and gave the other a huge hug. OH but he'd missed him! So much! And he'd grown!

Nani stood back, and looked over the other, canting his head from one side to another, taking him him. "You're bigger." he said, lamely. "But you're still Kiyoshi!"

No more rhyming language - at least for now. He was feeling all grown up, what with the younger kids racing around. Although there was still the childish notion floating around in his head to just jump right into Kiyoshi's arms and settle there for a good cuddle.... An urge BARELY quelled. And likely attended to later!

Tatsuo gave a happy sound when he was allowed to go inside the enclosure to sit with the rabbit, hold it and hugging it, "You are very soft." He murmured, he had thought that from the looks of them that they looked soft but still... he'd never of guessed that they were this soft! It was quite amazing really if you asked him. What a nice bunny.

Kiyoshi gave a smile as his son happily cuddle on the bunny, "Be careful not to squeeze the bunny to hard." He warned him before he heard his name, turning to look over toward Nani before he gave the little cat boy a smile, "You remember?" He sounded quite happy at that, having worried that he might not. Hearing Nani say his name though was a good sign that he did in fact know it. It was something that had him smiling in a happy manner.

He looked down as the boy came over to him giving a little boy and then hugged him tightly, something that made him smile. He lowered a hand down to stroke his hair in a gentle manner, "Its nice to see you again, Nani, its been a long time." He was so happy to see him again as there were many of his old friends he seemed to be unable to catch up with these days, something that made the young man a little sad about, "How have you been?" He asked, wondering when he'd shed the rhyming habit when it came to his speech, having found that so fascinating when they first met.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 30, 2010 1:30 pm

Nani smiled up at the older boy, and gave his best Cheshire grin. "Nani's been, Nani's been." And then, as a throwback to his old speech habits, he started to rhyme again.

"Nani was left out on the street,
With nothing to wear and nothing to eat,
What was the cause of this folly, praytell?
Something Cat Cheshire knows very well,

When leaving alone for an overseas flight,
He left his poor Nani outside in the night,
And the house didn't recognize poor Nani's voice,
So he was left in the dark without any choice."

He shrugged. "Cat is Cat, Nani is Nani - Both are okay now. And Nani is glad to see Kiyoshi so well! And so big! Nani's been wandering about for two months until Cat came home.... Cat's sorry, but Nani learned to not be so dependent on Cat from now on. Nani missed you..."

The fact that he was using 'you' and Kiyoshi's actual name instead of a nickname showed that he held great affection for this long-missing friend he remembered so well. Even after such a brief encounter, he still remembered him, and the meeting had apparently left a huge impression to last this long.

Kiyoshi was a rather calm man, always calm, always smiling, but as Nani spoke he found his eyes going wide and his temper rising. Nani's father... had left him alone? Had abandoned him to live on the streets for two months? He felt the overwhelming urge to fill the guy with arrows... not a very friendly thing, nor a very calm one. It wasn't how he was to use his skills with a bow even if the the man full well deserved it... he just hoped that he never met with the man.

"I see..." He wanted to comment that no matter if the man was sorry that the man should still be punished for doing such a stupid thing. Kiyoshi was a slightly over protective person, he had no love of his own so he'd ended instead putting his heart in taking care of people, even going so far as to get hurt while saving Dinnye when the boy had needed him. Because of this a part of him wanted to do the same for Nani, to take him from the man that would abandon him and make sure that the boy was well taken care of... given that Nani was smiling though, seemed happy, he wouldn't do that. It would be cruel of him to take him away from his father even if the man sounded like a terrible parent, "I see... well I am glad that your alright now." He said, having a hard time in keep his voice steady, reaching a hand out to stroke the boy's hair in a soothing manner.

"I will give you my address so in case anything like that happens again you can come and stay with Tatsuo and I." He told him, "Or any other time you wish to come stay with us." He didn't mind at all if it meant taking care of the boy that obviously needed someone to care for him in a more careful manner.

Giving a smile, forcing himself to relax Kiyoshi nodded his head, "I missed you too, Nani." He told him, glancing over at where his son was sitting, watching them closely.

"Huh... I think that my Daddy knows him, Mr Bunny." Tatsuo said, turning the bunny carefully around in his lap to show him what the other two were doing, a little curious. He hadn't known that Daddy had known the kitty... that was neat, maybe that meant that he would be able to talk to the kitty? He hoped so, he had such pretty ears and eyes he thought to himself before he hugged the bunny to his chest once more, continueing to watch the pair along with the rabbit... though the rabbit seemed far less interested.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 30, 2010 4:53 pm

Nani rubbed up against the petting, and let out a very soft, very quiet purr. Not loud enough for anyone to hear but Kiyoshi. His tail flicked back and forth very lightly.

"The boy likes the bunny... and the bunny likes the boy. Can Nani give the boy the bunny?" he asked the older male, nuzzling him a bit, and turning to look back at the other child. He'd win another rabbit eventually, and he'd been winning pets for people all day. "Nani would like to give it...."

He trailed off, but gave a hopeful smile up at the other, then sighed, and... pretty much leaned against him. It was as if he could sense the other's feelings about his father.

"Cat isn't a bad man." he started, standing there, and looking at the other child, eyes distant. "Cat is just too busy for Nani, and didn't know that when he adopted Nani. Don't be mad at Cat, Kiyoshi.... Nani loves him very much, just... Nani is moving out soon."

A soft, sad little smile. "Cat didn't tell him to! No, Nani wants to do this on his own, and Cat will always be there for Nani - just can't be there as much as Nani would like."

Looking off to the side, he seemed embarrassed at bit. "... Only... Nani doesn't have anywhere to go, once Nani leaves Cat's house."

Kiyoshi glanced over at his son for a moment before giving a shake of his head, "We don't have room at the moment for a rabbit since it will need a cage and stuff." He explained, giving Nani a smile, "But I am sure it means a lot to Tatsuo that your letting him play with that one, he was so excited to come here to meet with the animals."

It was best that he remain calm and speak only of good things, it seemed that Nani could tell what he was thinking about Cat and he didn't really want to make the boy feel bad. Kiyoshi might not like the man but it would seem tat despite all that had happened Nani still loved his father. He would keep his opinions to himself, "Wait... what?" No, wait maybe not... "Your moving out? And you don't even have a place to move to?" He was just a child! He shouldn't be moving out, his father shouldn't be allowing him to move out! What sort of fool was this Cat person?

Forcing himself to take a deep breath and then let it out slowly the milk pocky man forced himself to relax once more, "Its not something that someone your age should be thinking about doing nor should it be something that your father should allow." Even if Nani wasn't telling the man the guy should have noticed something was going on! He lifted a hand to rub his temples for a moment then said, "I see, well you can stay with us for a while... though I am not sure where you will be keeping your rabbits but we will try to figure something out." He wouldn't leave a child on his own, he could end up hurt or something worse! Not something that he would allow.

Nani sighed, and butted his head against the other's stomach as he wrapped his arms around his middle, and nuzzled some more. Then drew back, and watched Tatsuo. The younger kid seemed to be having a lot of fun with those rabbits...

"Nani was going to win the rest of the rabbits - and take them somewhere away from here.... Would Kiyoshi let Nani built a rabbit playground in his backyard? Nani would do all the work."

Hopeful eyes sparkled up at him. "Nani would love it if you would..."

----
Unbeknownst to Nani and Kiyoshi, there was another at the fair just then. Sitting on top of the rabbit game, even. Only thing visible of him was a long, fluffy tail curled up in the awning as he sat there and watched his estranged son make plans to leave. Oh - he had known all along. And it HURT, knowing that he'd done something so fundamentally wrong that he had to watch his only child leave home. Tears started to make their way down his cheeks, and not even his favorite song playing in the back of his head could cheer him up.

His cloaking tech was one that allowed sight and sound to be concealed... but not touch. And those tears were splashing right onto a certain little boy's hands, as he stroked a black bunny.

A rabbit playground? He glanced over at Tatsuo again, sure that his son would have fun with a whole playground worth of rabbits given that just one rabbit seemed to be more then enough to distract him so thoroughly, "Ahh, well I can talk to the people I am renting from to see about what they think of a rabbit playground in the yard." He said finally, not sure what they would think but there was likely a better chance of having so many rabbits outside then inside at least. He would likely need to see about having the rabbits fixed, from what he'd heard they liked to make mass hordes of babies and that would just become far to many bunnies for any playground he thought to himself.

"For now though lets think about the here and now and went will see about the bunny playground later. If they are allowed to move into the yard though I wouldn't make you do all the work, Tatsuo and I can help as well with the bunny playground." He said before glancing toward the game that Nani had been winning all the rabbits from, "So you were actually winning? I am impressed" He asked, a little surprised that he'd been doing so well. He'd been thinking that perhaps he was working with them, to make the game look easy when in reality there was no way to really win at it but the boy seemed as though he were winning on his own so perhaps there was a chance to win the rabbits for normal people? That was good to know.

*****

Tatsuo paused in playing with the bunny when something wet hit his hand, glancing up as though he were thinking that it was going to start raining which wasn't going to be fun for anyone at all... but looking up he didn't see any rain clouds, "That's odd..." He murmured, rising up to his feet with the bunny resting against his chest, nuzzling against it before he put it down and started to look around, wondering where the drops had come from... He would locate the source he decided, checking the bunny first. It didn't seem to be wet or crying though so the green eyed boy set to looking around farther, outside of the rabbit enclosure and up to find the source.

"Hmm... hmm... it would have to be close..." Surely someone or something nearby? He would find it! After a bit of searching he saw a rather large, fluffy tail that looked like a kitty tail. Maybe the kitty was crying? Odd... he didn't know that kitties could do that... or maybe it was drooling over the rabbits? He wasn't sure which he would rather it be... he didn't want the kitty sad but he didn't want it drooling on the bunnies either... such he decided to investigate, sneaking closer to the tail so he could reach out and give it a little tug.
PostPosted: Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:35 am

Nani nodded, and started to head back to the game to win the rest of the rabbits... when a YOWL of surprise from the top of the tent caused everyone to look up - included Nani. His father, Cat, was perched on the tent, now nursing a yanked tail. He didn't have any of his fancy clothing on to make him look older, or any chips installed to make him sound that way. He was what he truly was right now: A fifteen year old boy with cat ears and tail.. and a trace of tears down his cheeks.

"Cat?" Nani asked, stepping back a few in surprise.

So called out by his son, the boy jumped down from the tent, and crouched for a moment, lashing his tail and ruing the lack of concentration that tail-tug had caused. Whatever. He was visible now, as was the fact that he was really, really upset. Still shaking lightly, still crying even though he was just caught red-pawed [so to speak].

"Nani..." he said, wiping his eyes, trying to get himself to stop crying.

Tatsuo gave a sound of surprise when the little tug of the cat tail resulted in a rather loud, rather startling cat sound... it drew a squeak from the green haired boy who instantly ran away from the tail he'd tugged on and over to Kiyoshi, grasping hold of his Daddy tightly, afraid that the kitty was going to come after him... though much to his surprise it would seem that it wasn't a normal kitty, it was another person with cat ears and a tail, this one called 'Cat' it seemed. Oops... not a kitty at all he thought to himself as he ducked behind his Father in hopes of not being noticed by the Cat Man.

Kiyoshi looked over at the sound, a look of surprise on his face that seemed to harden a bit before it went neutral. Cat, huh? So this was the one that had left Nani behind to live all alone on the streets he thought to himself, looking the young man before him, noticing how much he and his son had in common, then gave a sigh as he took in the tears that appeared to be sincere. Despite that though he couldn't quite bring himself to feel as sympathetic for the guy as he normally would because of Nani and what the boy had told him.

Instead he reached a hand to to gently pat Nani on the shoulder, to sooth the boy and to tell him that he was here for him if he needed him before looking at Cat with that same neutral expression upon his face. Best to stay neutral instead of letting any emotion show he was telling himself again and again in his head.

The silence from his father as well as the unreadable look put Tatsuo a little on edge, made the boys eyes squeeze shut as he hid his face against his Father, wondering if he were in a bad mood all of a sudden. A part of the boy worried that maybe coming to this place was a bad idea and he felt himself starting to shake a bit, realizing that it was his fault that his Father wasn't in a good mood since he had brought the Cat man down from his perch in front of them... oops... but how could he have known that it was a Cat man and not a kitty cat?
PostPosted: Fri Dec 31, 2010 1:03 am

Cat couldn't bring himself to do what he really wanted to do, and just run away... so he stood there, sobbing for a few.. before finally getting the presence of mind that was in the middle of a crowd... and taking off in the direction of a corner of the festival.
Nani made a small sound in his throat as he ran off, and turned to bury his head in Kiyoshi, tail curling around his leg. "Nani didn't know Cat was here...." he said quietly. "Nani didn't mean to make Cat run off..."

It wasn't Nani's fault, but the boy didn't know that. Cat came to a stop in a dark area of the park, and curled himself up on a bench. The man that had stared him down seemed to be a friend of Nani's, and HE was older than Cat. Made him feel a little intimidated to say the least. The part of his mechanical mind that was working properly told him that he should be very afraid of that silver-haired one.. and he was.

Nani, however, wasn't, and was looking up at him. "Nani thinks Kiyoshi should help him go find Cat.... Would he?"

The taller male shook his head before he turned his attention from the fleeing male to the two that were clinging to him now. He gave a soft sound in his throat before he shook his head, "Its alright you two, come on now." He murmured, leaning down to wrap an arm around Nani, the other went around Tatsuo, and he hugged the two of them to him, kissing each on the top of the head in a fatherly manner, "Its alright, both of you, I promise." He said again before he looked at Nani in an uncertain manner.

Wait, what...? Find Cat? A part of him wanted to ask why, why bother to find the guy when he was the same person that had just up and abandoned Nani for so long?

At the same time he had to remember the guy was Nani's father so as much as Kiyoshi might not like the situation of the cat eared man he couldn't allow that to show, could he? He didn't want for Nani to feel uncomfortable around him or think that he couldn't stay with him because Kiyoshi didn't like his father, "I... suppose we can look around." He said at last, "We will need to ask the man in charge of the game if your rabbits can stay here for now while we find Cat." He suggested, not wanting to try to find Cat while leading along two boys and carrying four rabbits, it would just be far to complicated to make sure that nobody got lost.
