Ren was supposed to be in class.
Except he wasn't. Instead, he was lounging around in his room, flopped halfheartedly in his desk chair and absently stroking the feathers of his Quetz, lying across his lap. Felix looked just as bored as he did, wings curled beneath him, and Ren let out a low sigh, leaning back.
He supposed he should go to class. Maybe. Perhaps. If he could drag himself out of his chair, that was. But then again, he didn't really want to go to class. The last time he had been, he had found it to be excruciatingly dull, and he had not really maintained any of the information that had been fed to him. Not that he really cared, but still.
Mumbling to himself, Ren pushed Felix from his lap (the Quetz squawked indignantly at this treatment and curled up on his bed instead) and left his room, yawning and running a hand through his hair. It wasn't until he was halfway up the stairs to the roof (why would he go to class, anyway?) that he noticed the Incendia hanging off of his shoulder - where had that come from?
"Oy, Takashiro," Ren said, pushing at the small black beast. "Go back to the room already."
He refused to budge, curling around Ren's neck like a scarf. With another yawn and a glare towards his pet, Ren dragged himself slowly up the rest of the stairs and pushed open the doors to the rooftop -
- and promptly tripped over something sticking out.
"What the - Vaith."
He'd tripped over the Reaper's leg. Ren yawed, eying his - friend? acquaintance? mortal enemy? - with vague confusion. Takashiro's tail whacked him in the face. "What are you doing up here?"

Vaith had been sleeping on the rooftop.. Well, somewhat. He was also partially awake. He could hear the growls of his familiar, opening one eye to see the dragon fiercely biting into a doll. "Yo, Sora's not going to be able to take much more. Keep that up and I'll have to get you a better chew toy." he told the dragon. The only response was a brief but pointed stare with it's small red eyes before going back to ripping the doll apart.
He was juuuuuuust about to sleep when he was awakened by contact to his leg. He opened one eye slowly to see a familiar gryphon. The only gryphon he knew actually.
The only person that seemed somewhat sensible out of the bunch Vaith had encountered. Sensible.. but lazy.
Not Vaith's top choice of company.
"What does it look like I'm doing?"
He closed his eye again, resting his head back against the cool ground. He didn't bother helping Ren up-- One could say, they were at the point in friendship where they could treat each other carelessly. Or they were at the point, where there was a lack of friendship.
"The question is what are you doing here? I was here first."

"It looks like you're sleeping," Ren answered, pushing Takashiro's fluffy tail from his eyes and sitting back on his legs. "Which is a pretty good thing to do, although I'm not sure why you're doing it up here, on the roof."
It had been a while since he had seen the reaper. The last time had been in that horrid Christmastown, during those whole ridiculous train shenanigans where had been cold, sick, and sneezing the entire time.
Ren, that was. Vaith had been, to put it mildly, quite amused by Ren's state-of-being. That, and the fact that he had been constantly shifting from gryphon to human rapidly and unexpectedly had made the entire ordeal less than pleasant. Ren scowled at the memory, Takashiro's tail whacking him in the face again as the beast turned to look at the stranger.
"I'm here for the same reason you are, apparently," Ren said pointedly as he made his way over to the reaper, sitting cross-legged beside him. "Well. I wasn't here to sleep. Much. Okay, I was, but I was going to just read - or eat - for a bit. Maybe. If I didn't fall asleep first. Except you seem to be taking up all the room."
He paused, resting his chin on his hand. "So," he said, after a moment. "Whatcha been up to since the train incident?"
Ren wasn't entirely sure Vaith even found him good company, but seeing as how the reaper was one of the only person he really knew, he decided he'd make the best of whichever outcome would result from talking to him.
....whatever that was.

"Cool spot. Breezy and nobody bothers you." Vaith pointed out, struggling to sit up, rubbing the back of his head. He was brushing stray bits of pebbles and twigs, causing his usually-deliberately-planned hair to be deliberately-out-of-place.
He yawned, trying to brush away the new wave of sleepiness that overcame him. Ren's sentence certainly knocked him out of it, eyebrows raising at the mention of literature-related activities coming from Ren's mouth. In their briefly acquainted time together, Vaith had never gotten the impression that the other was much for reading.
Or .. any activity other than sleeping or eating really. But that could be said for Vaith as well.
"Getting lost in this giant school and town. But hey, it's an adventure. What about you? Surrounded by your pets I see." Vaith reached out a hand towards Takashiro, extending forward to pet the small minipet.

"Hmmm good point," Ren mused, tapping his chin as he glanced around the vacant rooftop. It was true that it was probably one of the better spots to nap; since the students rarely came up here (Ren was not quite sure it was even allowed, not that it would stop him even if it was) one could sleep relatively peacefully without being interrupted.
His gaze slid to Vaith. The reaper was staring at him. "What?" Ren asked, reaching up to push Takashiro's nose away from his face (the incendia had a habit of trying to climb atop his head, especially when he was sitting still). "Do I have something on my face or something? Why do you look so surprised?"
Ren supposed he could get along well with Vaith. After all, the other liked napping - that was certainly a good start, wasn't it? He still didn't know much about the reaper; after all, their last meeting had been very brief.
Still...he liked sleeping...
"Getting lost is pretty easy," Ren answered agreeably, leaning back on his hands. "Although I suppose it would be easier if I actually went to class, but I really can't be bothered by that right now. I don't really see the point.
"And I've been doing nothing in particular," he added, cracking a grin at Vaith. "What else is there to do but get lost and sleep?" Ren shrugged. "Mostly I've just been trying to figure out what I'm doing here. I mean, my parents did bribe me into it, so I'm assuming that they want me to be here for a reason. I just haven't figured out what that reason is yet."
Takashiro was leaning towards the reaper, eying him curiously and slightly suspiciously before he inched closer, allowing the other to pet him. Ren raised an eyebrow.
"Huh," he said. "He likes you. That's unusual."
