Every step was slow and calculated, measured to a steady beat as Shula hummed some quiet and gentle song. Above, a quarter moon gave just enough light for the two lions to see by, as the nimble lioness went through her careful motions. She didn't want to mess this carefully-planned dance up, one she planned on teaching others. After all, if her and Kosuke had cubs, she wanted them to know the dance. She was already going to teach it to Kosuke, after all.

While he enjoyed watching his beloved dance, and enjoyed dancing with her now and then, he was starting to feel just a bit bored. After a while, he rose to his paws from where he lay, stretching on the sand. The slow dances weren't for him in such high quantity as Shula was doing. He needed something... More. Something extra. While she was humming a slow song, he wandered a distance, humming his own fast-paced song. He was soon into it, doing a bit of a dance to some imaginary beat.

Shula stopped, watching Kosuke. He had started to make up his own dances. His were far more fiery than many of hers, with far more passion in them. It made her smile. She took a few steps, watching him and listening. Soon she hummed in tune, listening to him for cues. She was soon starting to step in time with him, violet eyes on his paws. After a bit, they both stopped, sitting back.

Sitting back on his haunches, Kosuke watched Shula, smiling. "You see me sitting here, this smile upon my face.. The time has come, but you know that it's not too late.." He jumped up. "There's been too many things, together we have seen, if we start to believe.." He took off, twisting and jumping in the sand. Behind him, he knew, was Shula. "And we're not gonna take anymore! Can we try to erase all the pain...? So please.."

"Show me a reason, give me a sign, tell me the way, we fall out of line.." Paws spreading on the sand, Shula stretched her whole body as she matched Kosuke's steps and twists. "Is it today, or is it tonight, we will find... The answer to our life!" She pounced on him, ruffling his mane. "This world is not at ease, we seem to hide the truth.." She jumped off, running up a dune to stare down at him. "Thinking there's only so much we can leave at ease."

Charging up the dune, Kosuke jumped past Shula, standing in front of her. "It's up to you and me, to fix our destiny, the turn is here so let's take a stand.." He looked down the dune at the pride, then the other way at open land. Away from the pride, all they knew, toward the unknown. Would they go into the unknown, or remain with the known? He remembered stories, as a cub, of lions who faced the uknown together. He never heard about those that went back to the known.

Shula looked toward the horizon, toward the unknown. COULD they face it? Her gaze soon returned to their pride's lands, toward the known and familiar. No, she wasn't like her half-sister, or her father... she liked what she knew. "Can we try to erase all the pain? So please..." She stepped up to him, burrying her face in his mane. "Show me a reason, give me a sign.. Tell me the way we fall out of line..."

He rumbled, licking her ears. "Is it today, or is it tonight, we'll find.. The answer to our life?" He turned, stepping away slowly at first. "So tell me why we have to cry... When there's so many things we can do, to help this troubled, world start anew?" He then jumped forward, hurrying down the dune back toward the cliffs they'd first met under. His paws flew, as he jumped and twisted, doing flips as he ran. In his own way, he was dancing.

Shula smiled, taking off after him. When she caught up to him, she tackled him to the sand. "I need a reason, I need a sign, there's no turning back, I'm here by your side.." She pulled his face to hers with a paw, licking his cheek. "Is it today, or maybe tonight, we'll find... The answer to our lives." She jumped up, twisting and landing a few feet away. Turning to face him, she smiled at him, almost beckoning him.

Pushing himself up, the male felt a light desert wind catch his mane. "Show me the way, give me a sign! Tell me the way, we fall out of line!" He ran over, getting caught in a dance with Shula. They twisted and stepped together, paws moving together in the sand, until they moved almost as one. "Is it today, is it tonight? The answer to our lives.." When they stopped, he buried his face against her side. "My Shula, my flame... Are you the answer to my life?"

Shula smiled, sides heaving, as she nuzzled Kosuke. "Oh my Kosuke... I think we're the answers to each other..." She looked up at him, dim moonlight shining in her violet eyes. "As long as the sun rises every morning, I'll be there with you, until I breathe my last..." She flicked her tail, using it to beckon him home to... THEIR den. "As I hope you do the same..."

The dark-haired lion rumbled, smiling as he nipped at the tail. Following it, he didn't spare a glance back. "As long as the sun rises, and fire burns in these deserts... Yes, my Shula, I will stay with you." He nuzzled her side, walking beside her toward home. "Always." He glanced at the other dens, noticing a pair of gold eyes watching them. They seemed dimmer with age, but they still burned with that fire that was just... Their blood. It burned with the heat of being a Firekin.
