1. Drama Llama
There is a fine line to walk when a dramatic character is created. Everyone loves drama and angst, heck, who doesn't? However, sometimes it's not the most appropriate road to take when creating your character. Not everyone can can make a wish for more eyeliner for their angsty emo kid to wear. More often than not, these characters are very one dimensional and roleplaying with someone who rages at the world or cries about his situation gets really boring really fast.
Does this mean you can't add a little drama to your characters life? No! But remember, less is more and not every facet of your character's life has to be a traumatic, life altering event.
2. Flaws vs Virtue
This is the place that many people trip up in. And for good reason. For myself, I find it hard to make an even balance of good and bad personality traits. I'm sure many of you feel the same. What's key to understand about this element is to keep things more or less even.
Don't make a character who is so nice and sugary sweet that he lacks the ability to not dislike anyone. Maybe his virtue is that he is sweet, but his flaw is that he has such a wicked temper that he lashes out at people. At any rate, both the flaw and the virtue has to effect the people and situation that surrounds your character for the most part. Inner turmoil is great, but if it never effects anyone but said character, things can fall a little flat.
3. Setting
Remember the setting! While it's not too strict since things take place in Gaia, please use a little discretion. It's still going to be a little odd to see a giant, seven foot dragon man walking down the street and breathing fire.
4. Reasons Why
This is something very important to remember. Don't just have your character do or be something just for the heck of it. Give a reason! So perhaps he has nightmares every night and wakes up in a sweat. Why? What's the reason. Or, perhaps he hates girls. That's pretty significant. Just remember to try and explain everything because we at Stella Velle are pretty nosy and like to know everything!
5. F-U-N
Last but not least, have fun! Don't stress about your character creation and just let it come to you. That's the most important thing about this shop. Hopefully these tips were helpful in helping you to come up with your own Stella Velle original! <3
