Lessons were over for the day and, bizarrely, that didn't mean it was time for F'al to go and do chores. Their time was their own. Although they had been at High Reaches for a couple of sevendays now, it was still taking adjusting to. Once he was allowed to fly with F'al, and better still once they could go between whenever they liked, this would no doubt he brilliant. As it was, he felt at a bit of a loose end. "What would you like to do, Mine?" the lanky brown asked. "You going down to the records again?" F'al had really missed free access to scrolls, and so a lot of his free time was spent with his nose buried in them.

"No," F'al responded succinctly After a moment, however, he deigned to add; "I thought I'd give you another oiling."

"Uh... buh... you oiled me earlier on," Dith blinked, "why do it again?"

"You itch, don't you?" the blond asked rhetorically, fetching a bucket of oil from the stores near the weyrling dorms.

"Well, a little," Dith shrugged his wings, "but it's not that bad... I'd like an oiling, but you usually don't volunteer twice in a day, even now we have the time."

"Maybe I just want to do something nice for you," F'al replied blandly as he headed back out towards the weyrbowl.

At this point, Dith gave an uncertain rumble. "Right... Is something the matter? Are you sick? Are you about to do something that's going to make me really angry?... Are you just trying to creep me out?"

As he stepped out into the sunlight, a very small smile tugged at F'al's lips for just a fraction of a second. "I'll give you three guesses."

Well, he supposed he ought to have expected that. "You, oh rider mine, are a motherless son of a tunnelsnake; you shall oil me but I shall not bother to thank you or pay attention, because you're a massive git." Utterly ignoring his bondmate's soft chuckle, the dark-skinned dragon addressed two far more pleasant people. "With, P'ta; F'al's oiling me down in the weyrbowl, would you like to come and give me some company so that I can ignore him?"

P'ta had been spending his free time after lessons with the glasscrafters, his skills at Ghenza having moved him up in the ranks of his current apprentices. While he wasn't good enough yet to be considered a journeyman he certainly had shown his worth to be in the upper levels of the apprentices, some of his work now looking much nicer than it had only a short time ago. He had to admit though that the looks he got from people hadn't really changed from what they had been since his first arrival, that hatching he was mauled at, and now his return with a bronze dragon in tow. P'ta was all too aware of what people said about Wilth, just as he was about what was being said over him.

Of course he didn't care and it didn't matter. P'ta had Wilth and Wilth had P'ta. And then they also had.. . .

Mine! Dith is calling for us! Let's go, I want to be with him!

P'ta's lips twitched into a smile as he set down the tongs he was holding, his hands wiped onto the apron he wore as he started out of the smelter and towards the open sky. His dragon was lounging just a short walk away, his size having prevented him from being too close altogether, and as P'ta rounded the corner and came into the view of the Bronze the dragon let out a happy bugle. It didn't take too long for the rider to climb up and onto his lifemate's back and soon they were headed down towards where the call had come from. P'ta was happy that Wilth was happy.

Wilth just really, really wanted to see Dith.

Dith! We are here, we are here!

The bronze landed very close to his clutchmate and practically shook P'ta off in his eagerness to run over and be at the Brown's side. Both dragons were huge by High Reaches standards, their size coming from Ghenzan stock, and Wilth still had a little in size over Dith thanks to their color differences and the fact that Wilth was just a big dragon. P'ta had managed to get off without too much trouble and he looked around for the rider of the brown, a friendly smile on his face. Of course he couldn't say anything though because his dragon was doing enough talking for two.

I've missed you Dith! Since this morning! Missed you!

On the arrival of his clutchmate, Dith gave a joyous bugle; "Wilth!" as the bronze landed beside him, Dith lent up to give the larger dragon an affectionate nuzzle. "Missed you too," he went on, sharing his words with everyone present, "the only company I've had is my stupid little rider, who has decided to creep me out by being nice to me. Other than missing me have you had a good day? And you P'ta?" They both looked alright to him, no scared bright yellow eyes or tear going on. Good. He didn't really want to interrupt his oiling to go and sit on whoever had hurt his friends.

F'al didn't have much to say either, but Dith was poking him mentally to come up with something. Social competence. Work on it with somebody who (apparently) liked him well enough to put up with his stumbling smalltalk. "P'ta... Dith's already asked you about your day... I have a second brush for oil if Wilth has any itches." Well, that was something, and Dith would have to be satisfied with it until there was actually something else to be said; he didn't care to blather about the weather just for the sake of speaking.
