Long ago Arceus was born, although some say he was not born in the same sense as most Pokemon. Some say the universe itself was his egg, and others claim Arceus was just always there.
Regardless of his origins, the story starts not with Arceus but with our world which he created.
In the beginning Arceus created his three Dragonic children, Palkia, Dialga and Giratina.
With the help of Palkia and Dialga he created the world so it was space and had time and all the excess debris from its creation was placed in Giratina's realm known as the reverse world.
Then Arceus created the sky, the earth and the sea. He then made Rayquaza, Groudon and Kyogre [respectively] to rule over these areas.
He made the elements of fire [Enter/Moltres], ice [Articuno/Suicune] and thunder [Raikou/Zapdos] and also created a guardian to rule over each trio of elements to keep them from mischief [Ho-oh/Lugia].
When the volcanoes became active he placed Heatran to control them.
He created a protectors for the worlds different habitats which he dubbed the 'Regis' and of course made another guardian to rule over them [Regigigas].
Arceus then created Mew from which all Pokemon are descended and Mew in turn created all the Pokemon in the world.
At this time these Pokemon had no types, no movesets. They were, in a sense, plain and powerless.
Not to mention dull and stupid, so Arceus created the three Lake Spirits to bestow on them 'Wisdom', 'Willpower' and 'Emotion'.
He created night [Darkrai] and Day [Cresselia] and then created Jirachi so that all Pokemon could have hope.
Finally, realizing that for there to be a night and day he cast his own light across the world which cast a dark shadow.
Arceus was unaware that in doing so he had essential cast out his own purity and corruption, leaving himself an empty shell.
The darkness took shape, copying the appearance of the nearby Pokemon it saw to create Suecra, the representation of all that is evil in the world.
The light retaliated, doing the same and spread it's wings as the symbol of good and purity.
The two clashed, forcing Arceus to seal them both away.
Suecra to the Reverse World and Creaus to a Lake of Light.
The world was then as peace...for awhile.
It became apparent to Arceus that the Pokemon of the world were prone to fighting and without types or abilities these wars were long and bloody and so he created 17 Relics of his own power and using these relics he gifted unto each Pokemon their types and movesets as well as they abilities and skills.
Arceus placed these 17 Relics in the hands of Dialga and Palkia for safekeeping, but one day when they two began to fight the relics fell and scattered to the mortal world below.
Powered by Arceus these items had great powered and granted one immortality as well as Arceus own ability to cast Judgement.
By the time Arceus succeeded in retrieving them all it was too late and the world was beyond help.
So Arceus started over...
A great flood rose and wiped the entire population of Pokemon from existence and Arceus began again.
This time around he selected 17 Pokemon to bestow his own power on and protect one of the 17 Relics as well as help him maintain the balance...
