Errr..... I'm not sure what type of gamer I'd be considered. I'd say I'm pretty hardcore, but others would say not.
Is there some kind of criteria we should gauge ourselves by? XDD

If I'm correct, a gamer is defined by what games they play, how long they play them, how they play them (online or offline), etc... But I'm not really sure.
I don't quite know what I'd be. I'd classify myself a casual gamer because I don't really play games that often if I can help it, but then again if I start playing a game and get drawn in I can skip meals and lose hours of sleep until I've beaten the game.

I've have to say I fall into that category of 'difficult to define'.
I've been gaming since the late 80's and have the majority of systems that have come out in the meantime. I game plenty, but it is not my soul activity, and I'm not much for online play, especially not competitive stuff. I'm not the type that will 'pwn' someone at halo, then go teabag em. Not even a fan of the FPS genre (It hasn't exactly evolved all that much from Wolfenstein 3D to be honest). Seems like the FPS monster tag is almost required to be counted as hardcore in todays gamer world.
I had bought Bulletstorm to quickly play through it and enjoy the bromance, but had no intention of keeping it as I intended on trading it right back in as soon as Dragon Age 2 came out. The gamestop clerk nearly s**t himself. "B-but... there is going to be a Gears 3 beta coming out for it soon!"

That reminds me, I still need to get those games. sweatdrop

Zero the Crimson You don't do that with all your games do you, or is it just FPS? That reminds me, I still need to get those games. sweatdrop No! Not at all, that was an isolated incident. My wife had said she had some interest in Bulletstorm, and the commercials looked pretty badass. Reviews (which were accurate) indicated that it has zero replay value, and with dragon age 2 coming out right around the corner it just made sense to do a sort of extended rental on it. Straight FPS purchases are rare for us. Usually there has to be a little more in the formula to pique my interest. Bioshock or Borderlands would be good examples.

So what do you mean, zero replay value? Never played Bioshock (never really caught my interest), but Borderlands is quite interesting.

Zero the Crimson Interesting. So what do you mean, zero replay value? Never played Bioshock (never really caught my interest), but Borderlands is quite interesting. I meant it specifically in regard to Bulletstorm. The campaign is great, and has some really epic moments to it. And the gameplay system is a blast. The thing is, it all starts to feel kind of old before you've even finished a single playthrough. Without fresh story elements or more varied gameplay, multiple playthroughs just aren't going to be very likely for all but the hardcore types that want to dominate a game end to end. There is a time trial mode that adds a little extra play, but it's just using the same scenarios from the campaign mode and feels more like a cheap tack on than a real feature. Useful perhaps if you have an extensive XBL friendlist and are competitive with them. I'm certainly not. I suppose my one claim to fame in that regard is owning the few friends I have at Doritos Crash Course. XD Bioshock caught my eye due to daring to have a different environment, a creepy vibe, and light RPG elements. Borderlands... I have mixed feelings on that one. Waifu adored it and played the hell out of it, but I could never really get going. Felt like it was too easy to get killed. My last serious attempt to play that one, the guy that was I presume the second boss... one of his posse was invincible. After multiple reloads and failures to kill him, I said screw it. She put hundreds of hours into it, we got our money's worth for it.

Only friends I have on XBL are relatives (not worth competing with) The whole Bioshock thing just doesn't strike my interests. I rather enjoyed playing Borderlands.....even though everyone else thought I was crazy.

All I have on my XBL list is a very old friend from the net, my hetreo lifemate from gaia whom recently retired, and some guy I played MP Two Worlds 2 with once, that I intend on deleting soon since we haven't spoken since. I'm not really the type that gets an e-p***s going over the number of friends on any given service. I suppose that's part of why things like facebook piss me off. You aren't crazy for enjoying Borderlands. Even if it wasn't for me for some particular reason, I definitely acknowledge it as being an amazing, and unique game.

Oh no, it's not for enjoying the game, It's the character. I use Brick (the huge one) and they think I've lost it when I use his ability against just about anything. Is it so wrong that I find it fun to fight enemies with guns by laughing like a mad man and punching them?

I suppose the best way to describe the kind of gamer I am is "dedicated." I only recently started gaming for real, when I started spending a lot of time around a PS3. Since then, there are only two series I've gotten interested in: God Of War, and Assassin's Creed. I played the hell out of all three games in both series, most recently finishing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood in a grand total of less than 48 hours. And I die a little every day when I remember that the fourth won't come out until November. :[
I've dabbled in a few other games, of course, and have watch people play through some more, but mostly they are shooters, which don't really appeal to me that much. I would like to say that watching Bioshock and Bioshock 2 being played through was entertaining, and watching Dead Space and Dead Space 2 being played through gave me nightmares. It's not that I don't find them interesting, it's just that they aren't the kind of games I like to play.

I'm somewhere between casual and hardcore, but it depends on what games I play. I can be dedicated to about one game at a time, which means that I'll end up ignoring the other games while playing with one of them.
