Ever since growing up, I always had a special bond with animals.
Even today, I still do.
When I was young, I thought I could speak to animals,
bc I understood them so well, and they understood me.
I would talk to them in my head, and I heard them talk back.
Now, I'm looking for my familiar.
I meditated today, and did a ritual so I could see my familiar,
and I know that it is a cat.
I'm not sure if it's all black, but I know it has some black in it.
And now I'm just waiting for my familiar to come to me.
So I will keep everyone updated as to if my familiar comes,
and what it looks like, and what I will name them.
Feel free to tell me all about your familiars, and discuss.

Familiar spirits? You mean dead people and so on?
I'm really not sure how much actual merit there is to a familiar being an animal pet with whom you share a special bond. Familiars as animals were meant to be demons in disguise, or something. Familiar spirits would be like spirit guides and ghosts and such with whom you had discourse.

I've heard a lot about physical animal familiars too, or if familiar isn't the exact term, then at least animals that have a profound connection to someone who is a magic-user and helps them in some way. Though I don't have one, so I'm not sure how it works. sweatdrop
Though Sanguina brings up a good point, because the familiar you find may be a spiritual entity rather than a physical one. From what I've read, animal guides tend to come to people when it's the 'right time' to, so I'd suggest that you don't try to force anything to happen too fast. In any case, good luck, and keep us updated.

I'm waiting patiently wink
and yes, familiar is the most common term,
but some people use the word "totem" too.
it can be a spiritual entity,
but it's most commonly an animal.
animals help you to channel your energy too.
i've had a familiar before,
but that's before i was really into magick.
and both my grandma's have one.

i got 2 dogs. i dont think theys familiars tho. they keep knockin over my candles and stuff mad so if they are familiars they might be defective stare
keepin us up to date would be cool! surprised like that movie supersize me. but with less barfing ninja hopefully

I haven't found my familiar yet..
But something peculiar happened the day I performed my ritual.
One of our dogs had puppies. And out of the litter, only one is black.
it's the oddball from the rest.
So i think i have a feeling... =D

They are a mix of pug, beagle, boxer and pitbull >.<
