 Ellette followed Aryon as he wound through the snow laden trees, carefully brushing away their hoof prints with a thick branch. When they finally reached the mouth of the large cave that was to be their shelter through the storm she spit out the branch and examined her work with a critical eye. It wasn't much, but it would have to do, the storm would break any minute, erasing the rest of their trail. Darkness had ascended during their travels, she couldn't help but feel jumpy as she scanned the darkness, she heard a faint scraping sound that sent shivers down her spine but she couldn't quite place it.
Ellette spun around to face Aryon, "To be quite blunt, this is going to be one hell of a storm... I think we'll want to move as far into the cave as we can. I don't suppose you know how deep this cave goes?"
She peered back into the darkness, it seemed to go back quite a ways, "I don't suppose that horn of yours glows?" She laughed quietly, offering him a wry smile

 Aryon chuckled softly, "Sorry, I'm afraid it doesn't."
He considered the cave for a moment, he had only gone into the mouth of it a few times to seek shelter. He knew it went considerably deeper but he wasn't sure exactly how large it was. He said as much with a frown.
Oh well, the only thing to do was to find out. So, he quickly entered the cave (he didn't want to admit that he hadn't thoroughly explored the cave) and found to his surprise that it was actually quite deep. Ten feet in he turned around.
"It's pretty deep, I think that we should be fine. Make sure that you put branches or something across the entrance so we don't suffocate if the snow drifts." He turned again and entered the cave.

Ellette nodded shortly at his advice, rather surprised that he had brought it up, it seemed he indeed possessed some survival skills. She mentally adjusted her original perceptions of him and proceeded to do as he suggested, moving quickly through the snow to gather the thick boughs and drag them into place before following Aryon into the darkness, her skin crawled when she was near the cave mouth, but she could find no evidence that they were not alone.
She trotted brusquely to catch up to him, it was impossible to see where she was going in the dark, and she ended up bumping into him, "Sorry, sorry,"
"Do you have any idea where we're going?" She wondered suspiciously as she peered at him through the darkness.
The darkness was almost complete, and with how dark it was growing outside she feared that they would get turned around and not be able to find their way back to the main chamber.

Aryon happily trudged deeper into the cave, oblivious to the possible dangers. It was getting darker, but not so much that he couldn't see. The interior of the cave was littered with small animal bones this far in. It was mildly worrying but any animal that was living here at one point in time would have chased him out the few times he had used this cave before, right?
When Ellette bumped into him he realized she was having trouble seeing. At that, it was getting harder for him to see as well.
"It's fine." he waved off.
"Well - not exactly." he muttered sheepishly, "I figure if we just remember which way is backwards we should be fine though."

Her eyes widened at first, then narrowed, and then crinkled with mirth. She was thankful for the shadows and managed to suppress her amusement.
"I may be mistaken but that doesn't seem to be the wisest course of action." Her voice was stern, but her eyes sparkled with amusement, "Come on then Aryon, we should try to stay within sight of the exit. It would be much more dangerous for us to get lost in these tunnels in the dark without supplies than it would be for us to brave the storm a little closer to the exit. We can explore in the morning....When its lighter."
She pulled him back into the main chamber and shivered, the blizzard was wailing at full force outside, trapping them in the cave and the yawning maw of darkness to their backs wasn't exactly reassuring.
"Perhaps it would be wise to sleep in shifts tonight?" she suggested, trying to keep her voice lighthearted, "Seeing as how we're in unfamiliar territory..." She wasn't sure she felt safe with Aryon guarding her back, he was a good enough fellow she supposed, but she couldn't help but wonder what he was doing in such a dangerous area by himself. Perhaps it would be unwise to trust him so easily.....
Then again, what choice did either of them have but to trust each other?

Aryon stumbled slightly at being pulled back into the main cavern, but didn't complain. He knew he was bad with directions and it was probably a good thing that Ellette had pulled him out of another situation he would regret.
"I guess." he mumbled.
"What shifts would we sleep in?" he asked, clueless.
A particularly strong gust of wind pounded on the branches and made them shudder. He could tell that they were already covered in snow and was thankful that the only evidence of the horrible storm was the occasional draft and the noise coming from the outside. He could put up with a little cold.

Ellette considered for a moment, peering at him thoughtfully. "Well I suppose it depends on whether you'd rather stay up late or wake up early," she replied, offering him first choice of shifts.
She paced the cave, shivering as the liberal dusting of snow in her long brown hair melted, streams of melt water braiding their way down her flanks. The sensation was thoroughly unpleasant.
She shook her mane, spraying water droplets around they cave and laughed mischievously when they caught Aron full in the face. He seemed so innocent, it was refreshing, and she felt quite comfortable around him.
"I'm hoping we won't have any trouble tonight... The storm should discourage most predators..." Ellette added thoughtfully, "But its always nice to be prepared."

Aryon contemplated for a moment which shift he wanted. It made him slightly nervous to be responsible for their safety for half the night but that feeling also made him want to just get it over with.
"I guess I'll stay up and take first watch..." he trailed off uncertainly.
As she shook herself free of the melt water he spluttered indignantly at being pelted in the face with it. He shivered a moment later, glaring at her for the extra water now present on his body, he grumbled to himself.
He hoped nothing happened on his watch, he wasn't sure he would know what to do but he was too embarrassed to admit that out loud. So, he held his tongue and found a slightly more comfortable rock to lay down on.
"So, wake you in a few hours then?"

[15:02] spoof2468chan: Aryon shifted a bit nervously, he had never had to do anything like this before. As Ellette settled in for the night he lay on the other side of the cave from her. What was he supposed to do, keeping watch? Was there something he was supposed to be watching for? He sighed, thinking it was going to be a long night.

[15:09] Jcaner09: Er... A few hours later.....The alpha's nose twitched, he raised his head slowly, an unfamiliar scent was carried on the breeze tonight. It seemed to be coming from their den. His hackles raised and he growled with menace. Signaling the pack to follow he led the hunting party down the slope, howling his defiance at the intruder
[15:11] Jcaner09: Ellette awoke with a start. "Did you hear something?" She mumbled sleepily to Aryon... Probably just the wind...

[15:18] Jcaner09: Ellette peered at him with a raised brow from across the cave. "If you were tired you should have woken me Ary!" she chided gently with a knowing smile. The smile vanished as another howl pierced the night. "I think it is time for us to be getting up..."

[15:20] spoof2468chan: He was on his feet in an instant, at the sound of the howling. The playful teasing from Ellette fell on suddenly deaf ears as all he could hear was the howling of the wolves that were approaching. He hated wolves, with their fangs and claws...he shivered in the cold as it blew through the mouth of the cave. It seemed that the terrible storm had ended sometime while he was sleeping. "Wolves?" he questioned nervously, "uh...they wont come in here, right?"
