Heenalu.
Kimuli.
Together?
It was unmistakable at this point. There seemed to rarely be a moment where the two of them weren't together; it was a sickly-sweet sight, truth be told. Apparently someone had forgot to mention that the adhesive which love slathered over a couple was one that made it impossible to act without ones cohort. Whether it was a walk around the Bahari'mtoto, an afternoon nap, or causing chaos in all shapes and forms, Heenalu Muku and Kimulimuli were inseparable.
But lately something seemed different-- something was 'missing'.
Love was certainly there between the pair and it was obvious that they were committed from now until Mkodi-knows-when. Come hell or high water, they would face anything, and everything together. There was no backing out now.
Luminous, green, eyes glanced beside him toward his slumbering mate. A small smile drew across his maw. There were questioned that continued to turn about the cogs of his mind unceasingly-- the type of questions that brought about a more serious side to him. What prodded about his mind was something he had thought of often, something that both he and his mate had spoke of several times, as well as hoped for. No doubt this 'thing' would bring about a new tide to their familiar waters of routine and stir up waves that had yet to be ridden. Schedules and 'ideal' routines would have to be altered, activities would have to be sacrificed-- there was surely a lot to lose and yet so much to gain. Was he ready for this?
Heenalu himself wasn't sure but, he figured, the only way to know was to make it happen. After all, there was no other way to make babies appear than actually making them. The thought of such a realization only caused a cheeky grin to curl upon the burly males' maw.
Aside from the responsibility of bringing sexy back, fatherhood was a big deal.
Kimuli stirred beside him. Her head shifted atop her paws while a small moan escaped from her maw. She had been teetering between consciousness and sleep, drifting closer towards a sound slumber, until the warmth that had been curled beside her withdrew ever so slightly. The toes of her front paws flexed, wiggling atop the sand, as her eyes sluggishly cracked open.
"Nalu," she groggily remarked, "why are you still awake?"
Heenalu's ears stood erect, his body motionless while only his eyes slowly trailed to meet those of his mate. "I- ..." his maw stumbled, stuttering with a disjointed sensation as if a large rock lodged within his maw. He tried to speak but the words wouldn't flow from off his tongue. Even his mind suddenly felt as if it had become a tumultuous place of chaos and epic disarray. Surely he must have looked like a fool sitting there with his maw hanging ajar. He forced himself to close his maw and swallowed before beginning to choke the words from out of his throat.
"I was thinking that perhaps...we could, you know. I mean, what if having some- uh?" Absolutely brilliant. Not only was he doing a stand up job at making no sense whatsoever but he must look like a genuine crazy. Muku pinned his ears against his head, somewhat flustered and embarrassed, and sighed.
"Kimuli..."
"Chubs?" She acknowledged, addressing him with her oh so favorite nickname for the burly, black, male.
"I think its time we- you know, had a few ankle biters running around here."
Muli's eyes widened. Silence fell between the pair while only the distant bellowing of the ocean swells hollered with a rumbling echo. Both hearts seemed to be sent a-flutter, pounding against their captive chambers with an anxious rhythm. The subject of parenthood was a matter which could strike fear and unrest to any potential parents mind yet, beneath the fear and shock that loomed, there was a kindling spark of excitement.
Reserved, the lioness pursed her lips for a moment before narrowing her eyes. "Are you being legit right now, seriously?"
Heenalu shrugged, waving a paw into the air. "If you want to- I mean, it's up to you. So, yes; the answer is yes I am completely one hundred percent being legit right now. Seriously."
Oh. Spirits. Above.
Was this a dream?
Kimuli blinked once and flicked her tail behind her. Her mates words were starting to sink in and the previous belief that this was a dream was starting to wear off. Just for good measure, the lioness pricked herself with one of her own claws against her shoulder just to see if this was a horrible, rather cruel, dream. This was unmistakably legit. Kimulimuli lifted her head up just a bit more and opened her maw... but nothing came out. What was she to say? How was she suppose to react? It felt as if neither mind nor tongue could speak or formulate a sentence. Inside she was screaming, wanting nothing more than to declare her approval of the idea on top of the highest mountain. This feeling- she felt as if she was simply going to explode inside.
She trembled with pure excitement and no longer was able to contain herself.
"YES. YES. YES. AND HELL YES!" Muli exclaimed. Her brilliant eyes of ocher hue kindled with a new found, anxious spell of anticipation. "Just think of it-- we'll be parents! And... we'll have to be responsible." For a moment she looked around as a somewhat quizzical expression etched itself upon her maw before turning back towards her mate.
"Can we do that?"
A great sigh of relief escaped from out of Muku's chest along with the very breath he had been holding. With the answer vocalized rather clearly, he rumbled with a content fit of laughter. "We'll just have to take a leap of faith-- we'll just rip, roll and punch it," he winked.
It was settled. Whatever was to happen, what blessings would befall them, was now to be out of their hands. The lioness shifted her body, drawing closer to her mate as her cheek pressed against his. Kimuli breathed deeply and exhaled slowly.
Heenalu + Kimuli = More.
More adventure and more madness on the horizon, most definitely.
