A beige lioness sat underneath the shade of a tree, quietly humming to herself as she pawed at a few small stones, trying to form them into a shape. It was one of those days; those days where she really wouldn't do anything except to feed and sleep.
Izdihar had no clue what she was doing with these stones. Her brow furrowed in concentration and thought what she could make with these. A pretty pattern? A face?

Ataji, a little stiff after a particularly rough training session yesterday, had decided to go for a walk. Not a run or anything, just a gentle walk to the edge of the lands. He was in a strange mood...mediative, happy. He was..content at the moment. Ataji stretched out, claws clicking against the stones of the cliffs. It was pebbley around here, the borders of the Viking lands. In a rare show of childishness, Ataji swatted a pebble, sending it flying towards a tree.

Izdihar had finally decided what she had wanted to do with the pebbles, but as something struck the tree she was sitting behind, she let out a little yelp, accidently swiping all her pebbles everywhere.
Curious (and a little apprehensive) as to what had exactly startled, her she peeked from behind the tree, her golden eyes searching, "H-hello...?" she called out questioningly.

Ataji's childishness dissapeared almost as fast as the pebble had flew. He padded over, ready to fight or flee as the situation required. When he saw the lioness however, he relaxed slightly. She had stuttered, and her posture was startled. So unless she was an incredibly good actor, it seemed she was new to these lands.
Which, Ataji mused internally, made her a viable thrall.

"Ooh..." Izdihar gaped at the other male. He was incredibly dark and probably the largest male she had ever seen. To be honest, she was a little smaller than the average lioness, and her father and brothers weren't that large either. Her tail pressed close to her hindleg, she bowed her head low in greeting, a small but friendly smile on her face, "I-I'm Izdihar..." she said, continuing to stare at Ataji. He looked a little mean, but looks could be deceiving, she told herself.

Ataji smiled. It was admittedly, not the most disarmingly cheerful smile because of his colouration, but it was a smile nontheless. Bringing up his paw, and tucking it neatly, he lowered into a smooth, practised bow.
"Apologies for startling you. My name is Ataji. And you, fair maiden?"

Izdihar quickly bowed after Ataji, not wanting to seem impolite. "I-I'm Izdihar." she said, with another beaming smile, "It's nice to meet you, Sir Ataji." See, she told herself, looks were very deceiving. Her tail slowly unwound herself, slowly swishing from side to side.
"What brings you out here today?" she said, making conversation.

A fleetingly startled expression moved across Ataji's face...a palecoat bowing? Then, he remembered he was no longer in that pride, that place of fear, and chuckled.
"I am taking a break. Whilst I love all the family, they are noisy, and sometimes it is nice to just take a break and listen to the sounds of the land."

Izdihar didn't see Ataji's change of expression, and feeling more comfortable around the male by the minute her smile was even wider.
"Ooh. Family..." the lioness' ears drooped slowly, as she remembered her family that she had not visited in a while. How were her parents doing anyways? And her siblings. Her smile slowly faded, as she thought more and more about them. "The sound of the land is nice..." Izdihar replied, still trying to make conversation.

Ataji smiled sadly, softly. "By the expression on your face, I should suggest you are missing a family. The land is beautiful, the cliffs the sea, the soft glow of the stars in the night...but beauty, true beauty, comes from a warm den at night, cubs giggling when you nuzzle their soft bellies."
Ataji turned his head upwards, still smiling that sad smile.
"Yes, true treasure is family. And whilst I do not have a mate or cubs of my own, one day I will find someone, and that day, that day will make up for everything."

"I guess it does..." she said softly. Izdihar wasn't really ready for cubs though. She just missed the warm bodies of her parents and siblings at night. "Please don't be so sad..." she said, inching closer to him, "I-I'm sure you'll find the perfect mate who will bear you the most wonderful cubs." she nodded, trying to reassure him. She didn't like it when others were sad, so she tried her best to comfort him.

Ataji laughed, an odd occurence, but it was a soft, booming laugh, full of mirth, and his eyes twinkled in his dark face as he turned back to Izdihar.
"Indeed, but I am not ready yet. No, the cubs I speak of would not be mine. Whilst I don't mind watching cubs, not yet am I ready to have some. It is a big responsibility!"
Ataji was never this pleasant. Anybody who knew the lion would know this was some elaborate jest.
"If you have no family, maybe you should join mine. We are not united by blood - most of us at least - but in spirit. You would make a fine family member."

"Oh...I don't know..." Izdihar replied, thinking of her parents. She still loved them, and wanted to be within distance of them no matter what. This area, though, was much too far away from her native home. "My family you see," she said, "They're far from here...I want to continue to be with them." Izdihar looked at Ataji, small smile on her face, "I'm sure you understand..."
