User ImageIt wasn't every day that Zaiten woke up early enough to watch the sunrise, but there he was, sitting near the edge of Seishin's territory looking up at the color-changing sky. It was still pretty cold out and inwardly he missed the warmth shared between him and Benzai when they slept side-by-side, but something in his gut told him there was a reason he was awake right now. Zaiten prided himself with being one of the messengers of the goddess Benzaiten but on some occasions he actually felt as if some sort of power within him was being invoked. Before the spotted male stretched a pond, its surface dappled here and there with lily pads. Seeing them gave him the feeling that this location was where he was supposed to be in order to experience something. He had no idea what that something might be, but it was probably important.

As the sun began to move higher in the sky, Zaiten said soft goodbyes to the stars that were fading away. It was a ritual he'd practiced ever since he was a pup, having always shown a fondness for the night rather than the day. However, Zai stopped mid-farewell in order to release a chuckle; the distant memory of tears being shed when he used to think of the sun as a bully who chased the stars out of sight resurfaced, which he found to be mildly amusing. His emerald gaze settled on a few lilies which were beginning to bloom with the coming of daylight, white petals reaching out from their buds. It was a beautiful sight to see, but there he was, sitting all alone...

User ImageNinety-nine percent of the time, Benzai and his brother Zaiten would wake up around the same time, if not in the same minute of each other. It was a rare occasion when one of the siblings were apart from one another (Minus when they were doing their jobs within the pack, of course. Everyone knew work for the King came before personal business.), but when it did happen, the connection between the two kept them aware of the other's position. Unfortunately for Benzai, he had woken up around twenty minutes after his brother had from the lack of normal body heat beside him. It was winter, so it was getting quite chilly during the nights, and it was easy for Benny to realize that Zai was gone. It frustrated him, however, that he did not realize this sooner. After being disappointed in himself for a beat or two, the sunset coloured Kuniku had shaken himself off and padded off to go and find his brother. The scent had not yet worn off in the dawn of the day, though, later, the other pack members would distort it as they awoke from their slumbers, too.

It was not that hard to find Zai, in Benny's opinion. The other had a strong, familiar scent, and it was nothing like any other he had ever smelled. It also reminded him of firewood, and there was nothing Benny liked more than a good, cozy, delicious smelling fire... Though... Those were about as rare as a blue moon where his pack lived. Upon seeing the other Kuniku seated in front of the lily pond, the eldest male (by about fourty-five seconds, so said his father) slipped up beside his brother, smiling from ear to ear.

"Beautiful this morning." Of course, Benzai had been talking about the lake, but the compliment would most likely be taken the other way. Not that the orange and cream Kuniku minded. The two brothers were closer than the average mated couple, considering that they had been born on the same day, and had called one another a best friend since that day. They knew each other inside and out, and knew exactly what traits the other looked for in a potential mate. They drew out the best of each other, and there was quite possibly only one time in recorded history that the pair had ever fought, and it was resolved relatively quickly by finding that it was too much fun to romp around and wrestle to be fighting.

"Have you thanked Benzaiten for her gifts today? It's rare for you not to thank her without me, so I thought I would wait and see if you had." The eldest Kuniku smiled and sat next to his sibling, pressing close to the other, staring out at the pond with his sun burnt golden eyes.
