Trotting through the forest Synestra was in a pretty good mood today. She couldn't say exactly why she was feeling so upbeat, but it might have had something to do with finding that perfectly ripe apple just laying on the ground earlier. This time of year all the low lying apple branches were generally picked clean, leaving only those higher ones left which were way out of her reach. Ears and eyes were alert as she moved along, one could never know when something or someone could suddenly pop up, wanting to cause trouble. The gentle sound of water reached her ears and Synestra paused to locate exactly what direction it was coming from. To the left. Changing her course slightly Synestra then trotted towards a clearing where a small river snaked across the land.
It would be nice to wash that apple down with some fresh, cool water. Bringing her hooves to a stop at the edge of the river Synestra glanced around for a moment, tail flicking thoughtfully before lowering her head down to take a drink. The water was so refreshing it was exactly what she needed, and the small mare took several more deep gulps of water.

Daphne at first thought the small horse was a filly, but as she drew closer to the shore of the river she realized that the horse was in fact one of the Usida. For sheltered Daphne, encounters with those outside of her herd was rare, and those of other species was even more rare.
"Good afternoon," she greeted cheerfully. The mare's size and the novelty of the situation washed away any apprehension Daphne may have felt at meeting someone new. She smiled at the little mare and stopped a few feet short of her. "It's beautiful out, isn't it?"
She dipped her head for a quick drink of water, then looked over at the other mare again to keep from being rude. The markings on her were... interesting. There were some Soquili in her herd with strange, strong markings, but none quite like her.

Synestra's head snapped up at the voice of the other. Red eyes looked over the larger mare with her interesting pelt color and flowers tucked neatly into her mane and tail. Her own tail flicked up to swat at a fly that decided to land on her side. "Hello there." And tipped her head in friendly greeting. "It sure if beautiful out." The sun was shining keeping brightly, keeping most of the land warm, only in the deeper recesses of the shadow did one feel any chill. Ears rotated slightly as she paused to take another look at the other mare.
It was only after a moment of further inspecting the flowers and bracelets that the mare was wearing that she realized that she had forgotten her manners. "Oh forgive me for staring. My name is Synestra. What's your name?"

Daphne smiled in embarrassment, not used to such frank appraisal. Synestra seemed taken with her bracelets, though. Daphne had had them so long they were an extension of her, but she never forgot how pretty they could be once they were clean. Usually, Daphne endeavored to stay clean, and the humans in her tribe helped with that.
"It's all right. I'm Daphne."
For a moment her green eyes cast about for other Soquili or Usida, but not seeing any she looked at Synestra with curiosity. "Did the rest of your herd already move on?"

"Daphne, it's nice to meet you." The little mare bobbed her head. She took a moment to look over the larger mare again when Daphne glanced about. Was she looking for someone? But then the question was asked and answered Synestra's own unasked one. Giving her head a bit of a shake. "No, I don't have a herd. I travel alone mostly, though I do spend time with my parents still." She looked up to her parents a lot, they were both good role models for her to follow. Even her brother she got along with still, though Topher sometimes didn't spend a lot of time with them. He did, well she wasn't sure what he did when he was away in all honestly.
"And you? Do you have a herd?" She questioned Daphne. Just because the mare was alone at this moment didn't mean that she did not belong to a herd, they could just be in the area unseen or perhaps she had split off from them for a short time to seek out some old friends.
