The day had been long, and boring, locked up in his singular abode, reading away at his books, polishing his blade, and generally just lazing around. It was not his style, and it depressed the immense centaur to be cooped up so long without company. He needed a purpose, and his musings of becoming a tutor were still there, in the back of his mind. Today, Lance was looking out of his window, toward the building in the distance that had once been his home, and was still the home of many of his friends. He walked on, around the trees and placed a hand on the trunks. He looked up into the trees, listening to the birds, and wandering if any of the small creatures had had their DNA used to create more Hytes. It seemed likely that some more had been created, but what animals they would be, he had no idea.

Returning to his gear, he picked it up and paced to the door at the back, that lead into the kitchen and the more comfortable areas of the Hytech building. He pushed on the door, which swung easily on its hinges, and stepped in. There was another in the kitchen, but at that time, he had not noticed...
