Background In the land of Fae, which was once a place of magic and prosperity, there rules a vicious tyrant King James, a man who rules by intimidation and by public examples. Many a citizen has been hung at the gallows in the center of the main village, only a few of which actually committed a crime. Though Fae had always been a land full of mystical creatures and citizens with extraordinary gifts, James banished or killed all things magical when he took the throne. All rebellions were quickly shut down, and much blood was spilled.
Unknown to James, there resides, deep in the swamplands of Fae, an underground army that has not yet died out or been squashed by the King's army. Led by the mysterious 'President', these soldiers all started out as ordinary citizens, magical and ordinary people alike.
For years, they have trained in secret, residing in the Undead Army castle, also known as Base 1, which was built in the middle of a dark, murky pond that many say has been blessed by the Faeries and cursed by the Gods above. Any not welcome in the castle who happen to come upon it have never made it past that dark pond.
Throughout the years, alliances have been formed. First with Grisham, who borders Fae on the right. It is here, in the rocky mountain territory, that the terrifying Base 3 men reside, masters of the underground tunnels that were constructed decades ago that branch out all over the continent.
Alliances were also made in Pragmont, Cartwell, and, most recently, Dunlae, whose own rebel alliance is led by the captivating Desiree. The Underground, largely unchartered territory, is where the leaders of all the rebel alliances throughout the continent meet, discussing strategies and trying to intimidate each other.
The Underground is by no means a safe place, full of double crosses, murders and lies. It is not for the faint of heart, or for those with no plan, no sense of direction. It is far too easy, after all, to lose one's way in the Underground.
There are countless alliances throughout the continent, but the largest army, by far, is the Undead Army, with seventeen major bases and several other moving camps, all looking to recruit, and to train. For years, this army has been mainly silent, slyly sneaking its way into a place of power and status. But not for much longer. No, not for much longer at all...

Rules Yes, we all hate them, and yes, they're a constant annoyance. But as with many things, in this roleplay, there are a few rules that you should keep in mind.
1. This rp includes magic. Feel free to use your imagination. That does not, however, mean I'm going to let you go crazy with it. Powers are fine, but no character has absolute power, or absolutely no weaknesses. That would make them a god, and no one here can play god.
2. As such, there shall be no god-modding. No one is to control another person's character without express permission, or unless it is essential to moving the story along.
3. I don't expect you to post every day, but once or twice a week is a minimum. If you're going to be gone, be sure to PM me. Otherwise, you're out of here.
4. OOC is fine, but please try and keep in minimal. I don't want this rp crammed with OOC and no actual posts.
5. As for posting, let's keep things PG-13, please. Romance is okay and even encouraged, but I trust you to know where to draw the line. Posts themselves should be at least a decent sized paragraph in length. One liners aren't exactly frowned upon, but they can be a disappointment to someone who's been waiting for a response.
6. Like always, make sure you follow all of Gaia ToS. If you don't, it's not just me you'll have to deal with.
7. So I can be sure you read the rules, when you PM me your profile, title it THE REBELLION LIVES. Including the Caps Lock, thank you very much.

Powers: Alexa can morph into any animal, as well as create any animal out of thin air. Animals of the surrounding swamp and forest come at her call. Weaknesses: Alexa tends to act rashly when one of the children she takes in is in danger. With a soft spot for innocents, she often ends up getting herself in tricky situations trying to help them. Appearance:  Extra: She tends to take in orphans without notice, giving them a home before they end up getting caught by King James. Because of this, a whole children's wing has been built onto the old stone castle. He's a family man with no family, but for the children in the kid's wing he visits from time to time. History: His family slaughtered when King James took over, King found himself alone, a young lieutenant in the UA. To keep him occupied, the Marcoli's made him Alexa's godfather, giving him someone to watch over and worry about. An intimidating man, he's nothing but a puddle of mush around babies, a fact few people know. Powers: King's right arm transforms into what can only be called a plasma cannon, shooting out acidic, destructive orbs that prove most effective on a battle field. Strengths: He's strong, both physically and mentally, and a natural when it comes to working with wood. Most of the building for the children's wing was done by him and a few others. Weaknesses: He's an idealist, which can be deadly in time of war. Despite his career, he's a 'the glass is half full' kind of guy. Appearance:  Extra: Despite how he may look, King is a gentleman. Race: Eel's features are most like those of Grisham.
Gender: Male or female.
Age: Appears to be in mid twenties.
Occupation: Eel doesn't exist. S/he is a ghost operative who sneaks in for secrets and delivers them to the right ears.
Personality: Eel spends so much time taking on other personalities that s/he is unsure of what it is. S/he seems awkward and out of touch when spoken to about Eel. S/he is very efficient and well spoken, and completely capable of taking on different personas and accents.
History: Eel was born a latchkey kid named Margaret Hansen to two people high up in Fae political and social structure. When her parents found out her ability, they were delighted. They showed her off like a prized possession. They hadn't given her much attention to her previously, so she soaked it in. Then when magic started going out of style for that decade, they stopped taking her anywhere, then when she stopped aging noticeably, they asked her, in a very polite letter typed by their personal assistant, to leave.
Margaret was extremely angry and ineffectually violent for a year after that, but still wanted their approval. She lurked about, not admitting to herself she was trying to learn how to win back their approval. She started wearing disguises and learned how to hide and how to pretend. She followed them about for sixty years until they died of old age.
After that she felt cut adrift. Circumstances led her to the UA. She had seen many unsavory things from lurking and watching, so had no love for the change that had come over Fae.
Powers: As far as s/he knows, s/he cannot be killed (think Heroes: Cheerleader).
Strengths: S/he is excellent at Parkour x due to a lack of fear of damage.
Weaknesses: S/he is rather puny physically. S/he can con someone, fast talk them, pick pocket them, but when it comes to physically taking something from someone, s/he might as well be a ten year old girl. And I will keep with my Heroes stealing and say that the way to kill Eel is to destroy the Cerebellum. Also, if Eel does not eat a lot then healing is very slow.
Appearance: Eel's appearance is constantly changing. The frame must be a small one since you can adjust yourself to be larger but not smaller. Eel's current guise looks something like this, ready to become male or female on short notice.
Extra: Eel loves to eat. It started as a practical thing, having extra fuel in her just in case, but then it became a hobby. Not used to working with people, s/he will wander off to eat any time s/he has a free moment. This has been frustrating for groups s/he has worked with in the past. FireSpark Username: FireSpark Character name: Darius Kass aka Jack Origin: Exact point of origin unknown. Has spent the last several years working jobs in Cartwell. Gender: Male Age: 35 Occupation: Freelancer. Personality: Darius is level headed and retains a high level of critical thinking under any condition. However, his behavior and actions are somewhat devoid of emotions, leading some to believe he is a uncaring and cold hearted killer. A reputation he has done little to dissuade. History: Despite any rumors to the contrary, there are no records of any kind that make any mention of a Darius Kass prior to ten years ago. The few that have uncovered this hard to find fact have accurately deduced that Darius Kass is a recent identity. And even then, there is very little information available on Darius Kass, with most it coming from attempted investigations or intelligence gathering missions. An exact point of origin has never been put to him, and the best that has been deduced is that he once lived in a village in the territory of Fae. The village in question however no longer exists, having been razed some eleven years ago, in one of the many infamous purges. For the last six years, Darius has been working various jobs in Cartwell for anyone willing to pay a premium. More often than not his employers have been of the less than legitimate variety, including smugglers, criminals, and even information dealers. He’s excelled at courier missions, negotiations, espionage, and even assassinations. When it comes to his associates, they are few and far between. There are really only two kinds of people when it comes to Darius Kass. Those that have heard of him, and those that think they know him. It is believed that Darius is loyal to whomever pays the most, and thus those that employ him have always paid above average rates. It is also believed that he has no end goal other than the accumulation of wealth. This is also a mistake, though Darius has never said otherwise. At this time, certain aspects of his intentions over the last several years are coming ready for fruition. Powers (If any): Perception Manipulation. Whether it is an inborn talent or learned skill is known only to Darius. With this ability he is able to distort or fool the perceptions of observers, including sight, sound, hearing and touch (Presumably he could affect taste as well, though he has never bothered trying). The range is somewhat limited, the furthest he has managed is barely fifty feet. He can subvert all the perceptions of one person completely and reliably. A group of two to five people is more challenging, and he can only affect one or two senses reliably. For groups up to ten, Darius can only affect a single sense, and even this becomes shaky if done for too long. In large groups Darius falls back to a much more passive ability, by altering the perception he gives off. This makes him appear very plain and nondescript, and observers are likely to look right past him and not register it, even if he’s the only other person in the room. Even when done completely and reliably, the actual influence of senses is somewhat minor. Sounds can be only relatively simple creations, or the absence of such. Voice mimicry is not possible. Touch sensations can only affect textures, but can simulate a variety of such feelings. And images seen can be masked with color and depth, but can only be shifted eight to twelve inches from their actual location. Though in a combat situation, having your opponents aim off by a foot can be an extreme advantage. All These minor abilities combined however, can create uncanny illusions. Strengths: Darius displays military level combat training, as well as skills and learning obtained from years of higher education. Both of which he speak s little to nothing about with anyone. What is known is that he is uncannily good with long range rifles (he prefers his Walther WA2000), as well as light melee weapons. If he must close with an opponent, he will use either his knives, or his paired tonfa (if less than lethal force needs to be an option). In non-combat situations, Darius is quite skilled at interrogation and intimidation techniques. Weaknesses: [TL biggrin R version = Emotionally unstable under high stress] What some consider weaknesses, Darius considers trivial matters. First and foremost, is that his attitude is extremely off putting, as anyone interacting with him quickly and bluntly realizes he cares little for anyone else. This makes dealing with the average person very difficult, or least very awkward. Additionally, though known to very few people indeed, is that Darius suffers from chronic depression (source unknown to anyone but Darius), and is prone to panic attacks follow extended periods of high levels of stress. Darius can usually keep this inconvenience under control for two or three days, but after this, an episode is imminent. Following such a panic attack, Darius feels lethargic and exhausted and is almost useless for anything except maybe defending himself. After a panic attack, Darius is also at higher risk of slipping into one of his deeper depressive fugues. Appearance: At a muscled 5’9”, with short cropped black hair and brown eyes, Darius’s physical appearance would be considered average and forgettable. Something that Darius welcomes and takes advantage of on a regular basis. His body structure is very chiseled, telling the tale of his very physical past. His skin is slightly tanned from long times spent out of doors, and his complexion is average as well, except for single thin scar across his left cheek, slanting away from his eye to under his ear. When on an operation or mission, he will wear whatever is needed to best blend into the social environment he is going into. Whether it be a tattered rags or the latest fashions. For a known or impending tactical situation, Darius will come prepared with a light armor combat suit, along with his preferred weaponry. On an average day, as rare as they may be, Darius typically dresses in comfortable and casual clothing. Mostly consisting of polo shirts or T-shirts, and either denim jeans or khaki pants.
