To be honest, it was his first time as a tour guide. Leonard had cleaned this place, cooked for this place, fought for this place, but no one asked him to introduce this place until now. Probably because after the last raid, no one was in shape too. All the more amiable Rockets were in the infirmary, either in the sick beds themselves or hanging out with the ones in sick beds.
And he was kinda nervous too. What was he like? Did he have stronger Pokemon? Was he old enough to be his father like some people here? That would be awkward. He didn't need someone reminding him of his family here.
And so he waited. Leonard leaned against the wall, tapping a foot, waiting for this Jack.

It was rather late when Jack arrived, but it couldn't be said to be entirely his fault. Agnes had hidden her Pokeball somewhere and Jack had spent quite some time searching before giving up and letting her stay outside. It would probably show up when Agnes got tired of walking around.
For now though, he stood outside the large building that was the Team Rocket Headquarters with Agnes slowly catching up. Without waiting for her, he opened the door and strode inside. It took him some more time to find his guide, partly because he didn't realize the kid lounging against the wall was actually the guide.
Jack sidled up behind the kid and looked him up and down, trying to judge his age. Seriously, how old was he? 14? "So you're supposed to be my guide around this place?" He asked.

Damn he was old. Well not like old old but old enough to be condescending. Leonard could see that look on his face. Even if he wasn't old in age, he was more experienced with this base than he was. He won.
"Yes. Yes I am. I'm Leonard." He went from observing Jack's face to his Pokemon. A Torkoal? He thought it was an odd choice for a Pokemon. Though not entirely out of place since they were in the middle of the desert.
"Is your turtle going to be out for the entire time? She's going to slow us down..." And another thing, his Pokemon weren't going to be plodding along. Not because they weren't slow, but because they were actually in their Pokeballs. Another win for Leonard.

Jack waved away the issue, as well as some of the smoke from Agnes that was starting to creep about. "We can go ahead. She'll catch up in due time." Anges reached the two of them as he spoke and started glaring at the kid- Leonard. She was an old Pokemon, but there was nothing wrong with her hearing as far as he could figure, so she probably heard what the kid said and resented that. Not a good first impression.
"So!" Jack tucked his hands in his pockets and slouched, just to piss the kid off. Leonard seemed like the prissy time that would be annoyed by this kind of stuff. "I'm Jack, she's Agnes, she won't slow us down but you might, being so short. Really, how old are you? I'm thinking twelve."
Probably not a good idea to piss off the guy showing him about, but hey. He was bored. And he doubted there'd be any repercussions since the kid was likely another grunt as well.

What's the deal with this guy? Seriously? Why did he want to insult the tour guide? That wasn't smart at all, especially since he was the newbie. Not 'the short guy'. In fact, he was thinking already...
"I know who you are. I didn't come into this assignment unprepared." Leonard waved his Pokedex. "And I'm 16. Almost 17. But that isn't as bad as say, oh maybe 65 like your Torkoal probably is. Did you steal the old man's cane as well as his Pokemon? That's impressive right there."
He started walking down the hallway, and then stopped. "You've already seen the garage. Where we keep our vehicles and stuff. You'll be reporting there a lot for field missions. And this right here..." He gestured towards the doors all around. "Is the detention faculties. You'll also be seeing these a lot if you mouth off the agents as much as you're mouthing off right now."

Jack inwardly bristled but he kept his face blank as he followed the kid around. He eyed the Pokedex while responding, "Oooh, almost 17. And no, the old guy had a walker. Didn't see the need to take it. But hey, Team Rocket is a criminal organization. A Torkoal is still a Pokemon. She may not be as fast as others, but where she came from doesn't really matter as long as she's usable."
He spun around lazily as he took in the detention faculties. "Eh, they don't seem too bad, but they're not my kind of place. I think I won't be here that often, seeing as I don't 'mouth off' superiors." He kept the rest of the statement unsaid as he faced Leonard again, face carefully devoid of any smirk that wanted to appear.

"Cane, walker, same diff. And like you said, age doesn't matter as long as they preform well."
Jack was really in for it now. Leonard continued walking forward and stopped in from of some elevators.
"Above are the dorms, offices, infirmaries, and the cafeteria. Below are the various training and recreational facilities." He was just reciting what his Pokedex said now. "Since it's important to know where to train we'll be touring that first."
And he didn't want to pass by the faces of his fellow raid members at the moment.
He pressed the downward facing arrow and the elevator beeped. "Or on second thought, we might take the stairs instead. The smoke is going to fill up the elevator quickly. No, sorry, I don't think your Torkoal can go down steps. The elevator's fine."

Jack reflexively started to answer but paused. Oh. Heyyy. The kid actually twisted Jack's words around successfully and burned him. Maybe Leonard wasn't so bad. Or maybe Jack's insults weren't really that good. He shrugged inwardly. Even if his insults were weak, it's the act that counts.
Jack stopped with the kid and watched as he pressed the elevator button. "It's nice to see your caring so much about Agnes." He said. "But she can control her smoke, she just doesn't see a reason to do so. And while she can't walk down steps, she's perfectly fine with barreling down them." He paused. "I'd show you, but I wouldn't want people in the way to get injured."
Agnes was still a little far. Jack guessed she'd make it before the elevator came, but if not then Leonard would just have to wait.

"Yeah. We don't need any more people hurt." Leonard said bitterly. The elevator was apparently coming from one of the top floors because it took a while for the doors to open. It was enough time for the old Torkoal to catch up and enter anyway.
Now they were stuck in the elevator together. Oh joy. He glanced up at the ceiling and waited for the next level to arrive.
"So what kind of Pokemon do you have? Other than your Torkoal?"

Agnes had stopped emitting smoke when they had entered the elevator, thankfully. Now then just had to wait as the elevator descended to the right floor.
Jack began picking at his fingernails. "Just her. I don't really need any others to survive; I do just fine with Agnes." He glanced down at the Torkoal, who was waddling around the elevator. Jack hoped that she's accidentally step on Leonard's toes or something, just to see what'd happen.

Just one huh? Another point for Leonard. He couldn't help but smirk a little when he spoke.
"I suppose so. Still, you wouldn't know what you're missing if you don't have a full team... There's only so much that one Pokemon can do. Versatility is key and such. I mean I have a Banette for stealth, a Snorlax for being a wall, a Metagross for pure power, a Drifblim for transportation, a Leafeon for more... formal missions. Stuff like that."
The elevator dinged again and opened up to another hallway. This one had fewer doors though because most of the rooms here were bigger.
"This is where you can train. It has state of the art equipment. And a swimming pool." He pointed towards a door. "Though I suppose you won't need it if you don't have any Water Pokemon."

Jack sauntered over to one door and opened it a crack. Yup, there was a swimming pool. And some ladies~
He eased the door closed again and rejoined Leonard. "Oh, I don't know. It might be useful if Agnes gets out of line." Agnes looked up at this and snorted, and the smoke that came out was darker, a threat. "Though that doesn't happen often," he amended.
Agnes's smoke lightened and he turned back to the kid. "So what about you yourself? I'm a kinda stealthy person, but by your Pokemon I'm guessing you're a jack of all trades, master of none."

Leonard talked as he continued on. "It's better than being completely useless in a situation. Because if you're stuck in that kind of mess, you can't always rely on others to bail you out."
"And don't think about trying to take on any of the girls here." He noticed the expression that had crossed Jack's face. "They'll roundhouse kick you into the next dimension. Most of them."
After showing him more of the rooms, he went back to the elevator. "Next floor is the lounge. You probably know what's that like. And then the labs and stuff. I can't imagine you'd be interested since technology is very fine and delicate work. And they wouldn't like a Torkoal spewing smoke all over the place."

"Mm. In those situations I just run."
Jack followed the kid around, giving the rooms only a cursory glance before moving on. The layout didn't feel that different from the other bases he had been in, but it was definitely bigger. He made certain to keep track of things in his head; it would be a blow to his skillz if he couldn't remember everything on the first go.
"Yeah, Agnes and technology has a hate-hate relationship. I'm betting it's cause of her age, " Jack said in response to what Leonard was saying. His mind was wandering... and then touched on a moment of their conversation a little ways back.
Jack paused and moved to be in front of Leonard. Giving his first obvious smirk, he asked, "So what do you know of the women here?" While he wasn't a really big womanizer or something, he was still interested. And he wondered what a pipsqueak like the kid would say.

"Wait what?" Leonard said his reaction to the question out loud. "Didn't you hear what I just said?"
So not only was Jack an a*****e but he's a womanizer too. Great. Let's add more loony characters to Team Rocket why don't we?
"I doubt any of them would be in the mood to put up with you. I mean they're serious about their work and their Pokemon and they're not here to play games."
The girls-only sleepover was brought to his mind but he decided not mention that. He didn't want to seem like a peeping tom, especially considering what he just said.
"Anyway." His face was turning red. "Since you're not interested in the technology part of this base, I'll show you around the recreational lounges." He entered the elevator and pressed a button.
