It was an unexpectedly warm day after the week of strange weather that had befallen on the city of Destiny. The wind no longer blew as harshly had it had before and the sun shined just softly through a thin later of clouds in the sky. Under the sky, there was a small child outside spinning around with a soft snow falling down on her from above.
Ainsley was excited when a friend of her sister Bell offered to take Ainsley out. She did not know exactly where they were going but Bell didn't have a problem with her sister going out with this young man so Ainsley felt comfortable waiting. All the small child knew was that she was supposed to wait right here and be picked up. She stood waiting in a cute mini skirt and winter tights with cute little Mary Jane shoes on. She was adjusted her scarf around her neck under her coat and held her trusty prince Octavian Oswald in her arms.
"Where do you think he is?" The small child asked her white plush bunny as she looked around expectantly.

Well, the young man that was now coming to pick Ainsley up wasn't technically Bell's friend, per-se, But Xavier was more than happy to not have to explain boyfriends to a 9 years old, no matter how adorable she was, and so this was the official explanation for the time being.
Ainsley didn't have to wait long before said friend of her sister showed up, walking down the sidewalk with his hands in his pockets. The weather had warmed up to something that was much more normal for this time of the year, and Xavier was glad for that.
"Ainsley ! Hey !" He waved at her.

Upon hearing her name, the small child slowly turned her head around. Her small pout turning into a bit more pleasant expression of a half smile when she seen the tall male approaching in the distance. He was here. Bell's friend was here! She moved across the sidewalk and over to meet him. She greeted him with a "Hi Xavier," before holding her plush bunny Octavian Oswald out to Xavier so that both Octavian Oswald and Xavier could see each other.
"Xavier, this is Octavian Oswald," she said as she looked back between the two. "Octavian Oswald, this is Xavier. My sister's friend. We'll be going out..." oh, she didn't know where they were going. She looked back to Xavier with a very questioning expression on her face. "Where?"

"Hey, Ainsley !" In a way, he still wasn't sure exactly how to deal with the young lady, but he figured it couldn't be so bad, right ? It was just like with anyone else, he just had to learn how she was and what she liked, right ?
He smiled when she held out her bunny for introductions, and was more than willing to go along with it. "My pleasure, Mr Oswald." He said with a light bow. "I thought we could go to the mall ? Did you have lunch yet ?" If not, that would come first, then, well, he'll think of something !

Ainsley pulled Octavian Oswald back to her arms after he had properly greeted Xavier and seemed to stare up at Xavier for a long moment. Her blue eyes bright and clear, peering directly at Xavier without even blinking. Finally, she smiled and nodded her head to him. She was okay with going to the mall, she had only really been there one so far since she had arrived in Destiny City and that was with her sister Bell.
"Okay," she said very seriously. "I would be pleased to escort you to the mall. I have not eaten yet, however!"

"We could get lunch once we're here." He started to walk toward the mail, pace keeping up with hers, though he didn't requite her to hold his hand. He saw no real need to, she was 9 after all. That was certainly old enough to know how no run in the middle of a street, in his mind.
"What kind of food do you like best ?" He asked her.

The small girl tried to walk as close as she could to the older male as they walked towards the mall because she still didn't know her way very well around the city yet. She didn't want to get lost or accidentally lead the male in the wrong direction, should be decide to follow her without looking where they were going. So she looked up at him, holding her plushie in her arms and when he asked her what her favourite food she liked best was her arm with Octavian Oswald rose upward and she thought for a moment about what food she preferred. In her mind, she listed them off in: Strawberry Ice Cream, Strawberry Pudding, Strawberry Sobert. That decided, she replied with one word, "Strawberry!"

Strawberries, uh ? "I know this nice place in the mall that sells the best strawberry milkshake I've ever tasted. Probably the best strawberry milkshake ever, and im not even afraid to state this." Brave words there, indeed. "They sell really nice sandwiches, too. How does that sound ?" He asked the question open-endedly, turning the corner and making sure Ainsley was still following him.

Strawberry milkshakes sounded absolutely heavenly, and Ainsley nodded immediately to Xavier before he even got to the part about the sandwiches that this place also sold. "I-I would like to try with you..." She said, thinking about the strawberry milkshake that would come when she almost missed Xavier turning. She managed to skip up to the male before he looked back.
"What kind of food do you like?" She asked, rather curious about what sort of food males liked. "Do you like strawberry?"

"Well, strawberries of course." Xavier answered with a light chuckle. He didn't seem too worried - that, or he hadn't caught Ainsley's near-miss at all.
"I like a lot of things, actually. Chicken, for one. And cheese. And chocolate cake. Do you like chocolate cake ? That restaurant has an amazing chocolate cake, too."
This could be their secret. There was no need for Bell to know he'd jacked her little sister on triple-chocolate cake.

Ainsley hadn't had chocolate cake very often since it was something her mother had said was blasphemy against her figure and forbid it from their household, but from what she could remember about the experiences she did have with it she was pretty sure she liked it. If she recalled properly, it was really good even. It wouldn't be something she'd probably be able to eat more than one slice of but it was certainly a wonderful treat.
"I think I do," she admitted with a small concern about how true her memory on the situation was.

Think ? He'd been certain that all children had a wide knowledge of cake, especially chocolate.
Clearly, this was something that would need fixing. No fear, however, for Xavier was certainly willing to rectify this situation.
"You can try it, and if you don't like it, that's okay." Now that they were at the mall, he held the door open for her to go inside. "The cafe is further down this hall, you can see it from here." Sure enough, the sign was hard to miss.

"Okay," Ainsley said as she looked up to Xavier as she walked through the doorway of the door that he was so gracefully holding open for her. She smiled, and gave him a prompt thank you as she waited for him on the other side of the door for him to come inside as well. She looked down the hall of the mall to try and identify the cafe that he had pointed out and surely enough she had found it rather easily enough. It would have been hard to miss!
"I'm excited," she whispered, a small grin on her face. "Xavier! Xavier! Let's go!"
Then she grabbed hold of his big hand with both of her smaller ones, pushing her white plush bunny Octavian Oswald to the side as she gave Xavier's hand a little tug with her own. She pulled her body backwards in the direction of the cafe and after a moment lurched back forward, released his hand and skipped forward a few steps before spinning back to look at Xavier, a foolish grin on her face. Cake!

How was it possible for someone to be so adorable. "Let's go, then !" He said with a grin, allowing himself to be dragged along with the young lady, though he did plenty of helping her along before she let go and spinned in the most adorable way known to man.
He caught up with her quickly, not joining into her dance but looking quite cheerful himself; it didn't take long after they reached the entrance for a waitress to come assign them a table, and bring them both a menu each.
"See anything that you like ?" He asked Ainsley, while looking at his own absent-mindedly. Maybe he should try something he hadn't tried before ?

Ainsley carefully pulled out her chair and then climbed on top of it, patting down her skirt so it didn't wrinkle as she sat on the chair and setting Octavian Oswald on her lap. She smiled at Xavier as she picked up the menu that the waitress had given them and stared a little wide eyed at all of the options there were to choose from. She wanted to try that chocolate cake that Xavier had mentioned earlier, but she also carefully looked over the choices.
"I-I want that chocolate cake you mentioned earlier," she said as she looked back at him. "What do you want to eat? Cake too?"
