Paavai was still getting over what she saw at the village, but today the wind felt fresh against her skin, her beads clattered against her in a gentle melody and somehow it gave her the feeling that today would be a much better day listening to them and feeling her mane and tail whisk against her. She smiled to herself as her orbs took to the scenery, looking over snow covered flowers as they glittered under the distant rays of sun and the icy river not far from where she was walking.
A snort of air filled out the space in front of her, the fog filtered out and she became more aware of it now with every breath she took. The winter had a thing for keeping others in their homes, the cold being too much or just spending time with their family but, for once she was wishing a new face would turn up to keep her some company and to provide some warmth.

Riley came galloping into view. He was clomping away in the snow. What fun snow was! He smiled and he turned to see the patterns his hooves were leaving behind him.
He didn't notice the mare at first, as he was too involved in making patterns in the snow. He had made a circle and was putting some features on the inside to make it look like a smiley face. Riley was the type of soquilli that was happy most of the time.

Paavai was still oblivious as she stared around at the flowers and the fog that sprayed out from her nose, until she caught the glimpse of a wave of powdery snow being carried through the air towards her. She looked at the stallion a short distance away and blinked, wondering if she was seeing things.
Nope, he was still there! She smiled widely and began to trot over, watching as he so intently scooped about the ground like it was his piece of art.
"Hey there, whatcha doing?" She asked curiously as she came to a stop near him, tilting her head as her tail swayed side to side happily behind her.

Riley was almost done when he heard a voice, "Making a smiley face." He put his finishing touches on and then finally looked up. He smiled as the face looking at him had a smile, just like his snow-art.
"Hi!" He was excited to see someone else, he loved meeting new friends. She was a very pretty friend, too! "I'm Riley, what's your name?" He was a polite pony and knw to introduce your self before anything else.

"A smiley face?" She repeated, blinking blankly a few times as she lowered her head a little to try peer around at his face. She jerked back gently, stepping backwards as he whisked his head around to see her.
She trotted past him to the base of the smiley face so she could get a better look, making sure her hooves didn't ruin the edges as she chuckled, not being able to do anything but smile when it was smiling back at her. She would of clapped if she could of!
She looked back at him. "It looks... Great." She laughed gently. "My names Paavai. It's a pleasure to meet you Riley." She bowed her head politely back at him.

Riley's smile got bigger when she complemented him, "Well, thanks!" He also had a twinge or pink enter his cheeks. He wasn't used to complements. "It really isn't hard to do."
He bowed back to her, "It's lovely to meet you as well." He turned to look at the smiley face and then back at the mare, "Hey, would you like to make a picture in the snow with me? It's always more fun with two." He looked at her with expectant eyes. He really hoped she said yes, then what could they make?

Paavai had never made anything in the snow before nor had she seen 'snow art' since she didn't tend to stay out in it long but it would be different and, it was actually pretty tempting to want to try the way he asked. She smiled back at him, how she could of pictured even his eyes smiling!
"I'd love to." She smiled widely, looking to the snow smiley. It seems they were both addicted to just looking at it. To her it felt like sunshine in all this cold, wet snow. Or maybe it was his eagerness that was brightening everything up.
"It will be fun!" She made sure that her horn didn't hit him when she turned her head back. "But what exactly are we going to make?"

Riley copuld tell that she liked the idea. He was glad his picture brought some gladness into the world. Snow wasn't always fun, but Riley...he tried to make everything fun. To him everything was a game you just had to figure out the rules and that you were actually playing.
"I don't know, what would you like to make and I will show you how." He looked to her for an idea. He wanted to help her make the snow into pretty art like he had. He looked back at the blank canvas and then back at her.

He put the words right in her mouth. She didn't even have to ask and he had offered to show her how to do it. She was glad. Pavie thought for a moment, about objects and items two-leggers brought in to the village and what used to be an everyday occurrence. One delicious idea lingered.
"Thanks... What about a basket of apples, or apples in general? They're yummy." She tilted her head, with a small smile wondering if it would be easy or if he liked the idea. She started trotting in the snow, making a line of hoof prints before glancing back over her shoulder at him.

Riley smiled and nodded, "Apples are very yummy!" He agreed with her. That was too tasty a treat not to try and replicate in the blank snow.
He followed her out into the snow and started to scrape a circle, but not too round. "Let's make the basket first, it's round-ish on the bottom and has no top. See?" He said as he was scraping the bottom of the basket, "Now you try."

Pavie moved to stand at his side but not too close her picture would interfere with his. She looked at the snow and tried to picture a basket of apples in her head first before flicking her glance over at his starting point. Which was helpful to see first hand of how the snow worked.
She fumbled her lips in to a thoughtful expression as she scraped her hoof, following his guidance as an example. Making an upside down plate of jelly looking shape. She cocked her head to the side studying it as she laughed at her attempt, then looked at him.
"Something like... That?"

Riley watched her make her hesitant strokes and then nodded. "Yeah, and the great thing about snow is if you make a mistake you can just brush it away." To demonstrate this he make a mark and then took his hoof and brushed it away. You could tell something was there, but not what,
Do you want to keep working?" He would watch, but also make another picture himself, he knew just what he would make if she didn't need his help.

Paavai was most delighted by the explanation. Her eyes were bright as she nodded, smiling sweetly at him. "I see. Thanks, that really helps!" She turned her gaze back to her basket/melon carving in the snow and started to make circles with rough tops with the tip of her right, front hoof.
"I think I got it from here." She looked at him once more, now feeling like she was getting the hang of it. "Do you do other kinds of art? Or do you simply enjoy snow art the most?" She asked, finding it all rather fascinating as she turned her gaze back to the drawing, continuing carefully with it.

Riley watched her for a little bit and then turned to his project. "Really I like to do anything that is fun. I love games, but those are hard unless you have a partner...or opponent." Riley chuckled to himself.
He started to carve into the snow and after a few strokes of his hoof you could start to make out the shape...it looked like a horse with a horn. He kept working and stealing glances at Paavai to make sure he had the patterns just right. "How about you, do you like art?"

"Two or more is definitely better than one." She smiles, as he talks about games and art. It reminded her of the village and the two-leggers how they would always pamper and play with her. The children loved to climb all over the soquili and have fun all day long until they were called back by their parents.
She paused, giving the final touches to the picture. Thinking it wasn't bad but it could of been better. Either way, it was fun. She was starting to wonder if he was the reason it had been fun, since usually the cold bothered her a lot. Especially snow. She looked over at him, blushing as she noticed he kept looking over at her, wondering why...
"I've never really tried doing art... At the two-legger village where I once lived, the natives would paint with fruit juices and pastes they made however I do think art is beautiful." She smiled warmly, finally looking down at the sketch he was making in the snow, curious to what it was as she walked slowly over to his side.
