They'd been unable to get the dog out of her room.

Once the injured Rockets had been treated at the main headquarters and settled into recovery rooms Moloch had refused to stay in his Pokeball a minute longer. Once the doctors had left the room, he'd burst forth from the tray of salvaged possessions, taken up residence (and half the floor space) beside the hospital bed, and hidden his Pokeball to prevent recall. By the time a nurse came by on rounds, he was firmly settled and, being a giant firebreathing dog and not actively causing trouble, suffered no attempts to remove him.

Someone had thoughtfully placed a pan of water on the floor for him.

Most areas of the base were rather.. sterile, in the way corporate settings could be, and the infirmary was doubly so. Everything was painted or cast in what were probably meant to be a soothing beige and pastels, at odds with the sharp primary colors and gleaming stainless steel of the medical equipment. There were chairs upholstered in a dark teal houndstooth pattern, a cabinet pushed into the corner, a wash area with a dispenser of ochre gel soap, and in the crisp ice blue sheets of the raised railed bed, Nadja..

..did not sleep, and did not dream, but floated somewhere in the vast sea of unconsciousness. Her fiery hair, somewhat dulled, still contrasted with her bland surroundings and patterned hospital gown. They'd removed the pieces of glass and replaced them with pieces of plastic - the IV in her arm, the cast on her leg, the butterfly closures holding the less severe lacerations closed, and her face was solemn and pale.

The air stalled with the low drone of monitoring machines.

There was a soft knock at the door before the handle turned and an unmistakable white fluff poked into the room; The wide grin on the owner's face fell into a frown when she noticed that the occupant of the room was not awake. "...Hi Moloch." Her voice was hushed, as if she didn't want to wake the woman in the bed. Nyx had been waiting for word that the elite was ready for visitors, and as soon as she had heard, the tiny scientist baked a fresh batch of cookies and ran to the infirmary as fast as she could.

Her eagerness to visit Miss Nadja had ony been increased by the unfortunate fact that with the elite out of commission for the time being, dear sweet Allen had been put in charge of the labs, and anyone could guess how well that was going. Mad with power had never described anyone more accurately.

Nyx placed the plate of cookies on the bed tray and pulled a chair over to sit next to Miss Nadja. "How are you doing, Moloch?" She held her hand out--the universal signal for 'I wish to pet you'-- and smiled gently at the large canine.

There was the distinct footfalls of heavy boots coming down the hospital corridor as one tall elite made his way at a purposeful clip. Ever since the raid, he'd been extremely busy with interrogating those who were not seriously injured and writing up his report. Thus, he hadn't been able to visit Nadja, despite wanting to. Until now that is. He had sent the boss the best report he could muster, but would have to do a followup once many of the wounded were able to speak. He had yet to figure out the explosion that had caused the chandelier to fall.

Reaching Nadja's room, he could hear someone inside, and he paused, cracking open the door slightly to peer in. Blue eyes narrowed slightly as he saw the familiar fluffy dog. Oh and Moloch was there too. However, he wouldn't allow such an inconvenience to keep him away, and opened the door without knocking. He had been told that Nadja wasn't yet awake anyway, so there was no need.

Stepping inside, Seth barely gave Nyx a glance, and unlike her he had arrived empty handed. He would have asked her why she was there, but considering the cookies and the relation she had with the red headed elite, it was clear. Instead he just said nothing. His line of vision was instead on Nadja's prone form.

A person! A friendly whine escaped the Arcanine's muzzle and his tail beat faster when he saw it was the fuzzy one, bearing the cookies for which she was known. He sniffed at the air as Nyx approached, craning his neck so much he nearly rolled over on his side. It was uneventful and worrisome, guarding his trainer who smelled of chemicals and unfamiliar hands, but now more than ever he was needed and here he would stay. No one had brushed him in a day or two, and while his coat was still a thing of beauty, the glossy sheen it had had under the chandelier's lights had dulled.

A visitor or two wasn't unwelcome, though, and a large pink tongue lapped at Nyx's hand in a sweeping search for crumbs or chocolate smudges that was cut short when Seth entered after her. New people had to be inspected, if only for the sake of enrichment.

"Moloch... Where is your brush?" Nyx chuckled and stroked the canine's fur. It would be a shame for Nadja to wake up and see her pokemon's coat in such a messy state. Plus, Seth had entered the room, and she felt like she needed something to distract her from him.

But... Seth had come for the same reason she had, and Miss Nadja didn't seem to be getting tired of the other elite. Nyx bit the inside of her cheek and rolled her eyes while she lavished the Arcanine with atteniton. "...Cookie?"

The agent was largely ignored as Seth walked into the room and approached Nadja's bed. He didn't particularly want either of them there. The dog was in the way, and should be in his pokeball where he belonged. He was still sore over the canine releasing the Dusknoir.

The elite was stone faced as he looked at Nadja who was just lying there. Yet the tips of his fingers lightly brushed against hers. Until his gaze turned to the small collection of her belongings at her bedside. His mouth creased into a deeper frown as he reached over and picked up the amber necklace that she had been wearing that night. It was broken. One of the links had snapped and a stone was cracked. He put the piece of jewelry in his pocket.

He heard Nyx speak but figured she was talking to the Arcanine, and thus said nothing.

Nyx held in a growl, when her offer of a cookie was ignored. Fine. If he didn't want a cookie, or for her to be nice, she could go back to the way she had been and just tell Miss Nadja she tried. No... no... Maybe he didn't hear her. And if he did, and he snapped at her, she had a giant fire breathing dog who liked her better. "Cookie? ... Sir." She spoke up, and forced out a sir.

The 'sir' seemed to grab his attention, and Seth suddenly looked up, as if being yanked away from some personal thoughts. Oh, she was talking to him.

"Hm?" He then looked at the tray of cookies she had brought, and he paused for a moment. Unknown to Nyx, he had actually tried her cookies before in Nadja's office.

After another moment of hesitation, the man grunted and turned his gaze back to Nadja. "Sure. What kind are they?"

"Aurrh," Moloch replied with a beat of his tail. It made perfect sense in Arcanine, but Nyx could only listen in Confusion. His ears twitched, angling back at the fuzzy one's voice and all her bits of body language that added up to a sense of strained patience, and he gave her arm another lick. He also raised a paw, exposing a bit of his belly in hopeful invitation. Given that he'd been lying on a hospital floor lately, the creamy fur wasn't the most pristine.

Nadja's fingers moved slightly under the touch, but not by their own accord; it was the response of the unresisting and unconscious. A faint periodic sighing showed she was breathing, and her eyes moved slowly behind the lids.

"Oatmeal raisin." Nyx held the plate out for Seth to grab his own cookie, and noticed that there had been a brush sitting on the bed tray all along. She put the plate back down and picked up the brush, letting out a great sigh. "I guess you want me to do this, huh?" Six feet of dog to brush was a daunting task, especially with just how much fur it had, but she leaned over and set to brushing Moloch. Miss Nadja would surely appreciate someone taking the time to groom her favorite pokemon.

"So..." Nyx spoke between brush strokes, "How... are... you...?" Small talk was hard, but there was always a starting point.

There was a moment of hesitation, and a grunt before Seth reached out and took one of the cookies. Surely it wasn't poisoned since Nyx likely meant them for Nadja to begin with. However, he glanced at the agent with a hint of suspicion as she attempted to engage in small talk. Why was she even doing this anyway?

"Busy." He said curtly and then released a sigh. "Too damn busy."

In fact he probably shouldn't stay too long, despite wanting to.

Nyx diligently brushed the Arcanine, using the work to distract herself from her instinctual reaction of intense dislike she'd quickly developed for the Elite since that incident in the gym. "... Avoid the labs, then." Nyx certainly was. "Allen is in charge right now..." It was a situation much like the one time she felt lazy and put Beaker in charge of training the rest of her team... No one looked at her for a week, after that.

What did that have to do with anything? Still, it made Seth elicit a snort of disgust. He didn't stray from Nadja's beside though, and since Nyx couldn't see from her position on the floor where she was bonding with her own kind, Seth held Nadja's hand.

"Why should I? I've put that damn idiot in his place before, I can do it again." Whether Allen was in charge of the labs or not, Seth still outranked him. Nothing had changed in that regard.

"Hn..." Most anyone else who had been exposed to Allen, especially lately, would have laughed, or joined in on mocking the poor old man. But most people weren't Seth. Nyx looked with disapproval at him and his contribution to their conversation and chewed on the side of her cheek.

"... Did you know that in New Pokuinea, there is a tribe that, when a hunter flaunts his success to the rest of the village, they kill him and drive away evil spirits with a drum made of his skin?" Nyx's eye twitched and she half smirked and half grimaced.

There was pause after Nyx spoke, and Seth lifted a brow. "I would like to think Team Rocket is better than a primitive tribe." Of course, there were times when it seemed some members acted like they were part of one. The notion was ridiculous, but he decided to humor the white haired agent.

"Of course, there are some exceptions. Given the chance, I would drive a spear through that man myself."
