Its tongue is always hanging out, as it sits on the sea floor. Shellder swims facing backward by opening and closing its two-piece shell. When Shellder sleeps it uses its broad tongue to burrow a hole in the sand and then sleeps in it. While Shellder is sleeping, it closes its shell, but leaves its tongue hanging out. Shellder are apparently attracted to the King's Rock since it is this item that makes the Shellder bite Slowpoke on the head and transform it into a Slowking.

Elio has the huge tendency of swinging from relationship to relationship, along with coming off as quite the confusing a*****e. Half of his day is spent running around eating. And the other half? It’s spent continuously asking people out on dates, and even just for a " good time "... just because. He claims that he really doesn’t know why he does it either but it’s much more likely that he’s worried about sounding like a total loser if he ever admitted it to anyone. Elio has this thing where he constantly needs human interaction. And affection. And all that schmooze-y stuff. Gag now, if you please.
He’s one of the most ridiculous, outrageous hopeless romantics in the history of loser romantics. Forget about watching a movie and dining at some five star restaurant. If you’re going out with Elio, then you’re having supper after you both hike through the mountains, swim through the ocean, AND explore some "forgotten" cave. “Because exploring is the best!” as he’d say--and let us not forget that by the end of it, you're more than likely going to have him on your back sleeping. Or, he'll be sleeping in a dirt pile somewhere.. no dinner for you. How sad. However, the countless times that people have disagreed with him are enough to prove that the world does not share his ideals.
If you took a passing glance at Elio, you wouldn’t really note anything extraordinary of him other than having a slouch that annoys a surprising amount of people. His appearance obviously isn’t one of his stronger points either; in fact, despite the fact that he`s a Shellder, he`s often overlooked. Though it`s not all that surprising to some people, to others it might be seeing as he has a facination for pearls. If it`s anything that draws your attention to him, it`s those shiny little beads around his neck. Yet once he decides to strike up a conversation with you, no matter how ridiculous it may be; all of those strange traits seem to dissipate.
His character is largely built upon his need to be a people person, an extrovert. And to the untrained, unfamiliar eye that’s exactly how he comes off as. With his constant smiling, laughing, and consciously making solid eye contact with others; Elio fakes his confidence so well that it comes off as charming. He believes that as long as you can pull off a friendly face and throw in a couple of compliments every now and then, you’ll always appear as a striking individual. It is not only a skill that he has nearly perfected over the years but a mannerism that many people unaware about his practice constantly turn a cheerful blind eye to. After all, who would seriously bother probing further into this kid’s mind when almost everything he talks about are either food or... some half assed compliment that you can't really deny.
