RP Session

Fey: Open to all Moon Court people. :O

Who's in this mess of a posting order- Neith, LF, Sizz, Inle, Youko

Pteryx had been exploring the castle more and more lately, as she'd gotten more and more comfortable with the way she could function.

And then after one flight outside, Pteryx had discovered the kitchen. It had food, and drink, and a warmth that unfroze her from the frozen world outside.

She sat in the kitchen now at one of the benches, hair and skin still frosty and damp from her latest flight. And there in that comfortable dim warmth, Pteryx half-dozed off, with a cup of warmed milk and a slice of some type of cheese on a plate arranged on the bench in front of her.

Dionaea had been wandering the halls for what seemed like hours, only hearing the sound of her own footsteps to keep her company. The meeting with Melidora lifted her spirits, but she wanted more interaction. The smell of food tugged her in the direction of the kitchen. Once she stepped beyond the threshold, her stomach growled.

Embarassed, she tried to shake it off, instead catching a glimpse of what looked like... was that Pteryx? Passed out in some cheese? Or was she passed out at all? Hazarding to disturb her, Dionaea called out.

"Pteryx? Is that... you?"

Procyon was examining the halls after her visit with Aranea, looking for more signs of life. She hadn't been terribly successful...but then, she smelled it. FOOD! It seemed like it had been days since she'd eaten anything substantial, so she headed toward the kitchen, and the warmth that undoubtedly lay within.

Once she got to the door, she realized that there were others there...and they were all people she knew! Was that Pteryx, sleeping on a cheese tray? And there was Dee, standing almost directly in front of her.

"Well hello ladies!" She said, walking up behind Dee and giving her a hug around the waist. "Nice to see you again!"

The castle's kitchen was one of the few places within it that Mephiti was comfortable with. She had been venturing there more often since the official start of the winter season, as her chamber's window was no longer sufficient to hang and dry fresh herbs from; the cold froze them, more often than not, and then they simply rotted. After the first few batches of decayed foliage, she learned that it was best to take them down to the kitchens and hang them over a fire. She had even started keeping a drying rack down there, just in case.

With cheeks red from the bitter cold, she wandered into the kitchens with a spring in her step, a bundle of what appeared to be weeds in her arms, and a sleeping creature nested in her tail. Her furred ears perked at the sound of unfamiliar voices, and her ever-present smile grew; company, how fortunate! "Hello?" she called, nudging the door open with a shoulder. Her wings buzzed her excitement as her eyes fell upon her two childhood playmates and the unknown, but far from unwelcome, teenager. "Proc? Dee? Wow, it's been forever!" she chirped.

Pteryx jerked awake, and half-panicked. She didn't like it when her sense failed her like that, she needed her hearing when she wasn't speaking!

But she managed to stop herself from leaping up in fright and bolting from the room as fast as her feet and wings could take her. She had to compose herself.

"Unless I look different to ten minutes ago, I'm sure it's still me. Who are you again? And... who are all of you?"

Pteryx had gotten the image of three in front of her. The totem details should have been obvious, but then there were a few other things on each. Namely... CURVES. They'd grown up, if they were the children she remembered.

Pteryx ignored the still panicked fluttering of her heart, and continued as she took in their new appearances, "Now that there's a few of us, would one of you like to heat up mulled wine?"

A detour had been made... Astra had started to head back to her own rooms, but the gnaw of hunger in her belly had made her change directions and head towards the kitchen. Before she'd even gotten within sight range, she'd heard voices. Slipping closer in silence, she listened carefully, but frowned again a moment later. These voices weren't secretive, nor were they hushed in plotting. They seemed almost joyful?

Well THAT was no fun. Pouting softly, Astra moved around the corner then, to see the ones that she'd been eavesdropping on. A raccoon girl... a skunk... one with pink hair... and one with the most vibrant orange curls she'd ever seen in her life. Well, that wasn't really saying a lot, but still, it WAS bright.

"I'm hungry," she announced, standing in the doorway with one hand on her hip. It wouldn't likely be as 'cute' when she grew older... but for the moment, the child couldn't carry off indignance with anything more than a childish huff.

Dionaea turned about in Procyon's grip to return the favor, finally seeing everyone again. And Pteryx had grow, Mephiti had grown too! After a good squeeze, Dionaea backed up to survey everyone. Looks like everyone was drawn to the kitchen. Evil got hungry just as much as anyone else did.

She cast a glance at confused bat teen. "I'm Dee, Pteryx. I was very little when you met me. Do you remember? And Procyon and Mephiti are here too!" It was very exciting to see everyone again, like a family reunion over a homecooked meal, minus the meal. Thus far. "I would like some wine. That sounds good to warm cold bones."

The appearance of someone younger than all four of them surprised the Flytrap. She had bright blue hair and an attitude. Never seen her before. "Who might you be?"

Procyon smiled as she looked around the kitchen to all of her friends who were now much older, and much more...filled out. It was good to see people she was familiar with again, and it gave her a warm feeling inside.

After releasing Dee, Procyon walked around the kitchen island, greeting Mephiti with almost the same enthusiasm. "So good to see you again 'Phiti! You're gorgeous! I've been in my own chambers so long, I barely recognize anyone!"

Turning to Pteryx, Procyon smiled, remembering the bat Fey. "I met you with my Kithain, right after I came out of the window. You're Pteryx, right? Good to see you again! Looks like you've been outside awhile. Good thing you're in front of the hearth. You wouldn't want to catch a cold."

It was then that she noticed a small girl, with light blue and silvery hair, her complexion bright and starry. She nodded along with Dee, curious as to who this little girl was. She'd never seen her before...And what was this? She was already huffing about? What was there to be upset about? This was a festive meeting. "Pour me a glass of wine too, will you Pteryx? Thank you!"

Looking over at Astra, she had to inquire about her. "Yes, I've never seen you before. Are you new to Umbra?"

They didn't know who she was?? How rude.

Astra pulled herself up to her full meager height and looked towards Dionaea directly. "My name is Astra," she said simply, crossing her arms over her chest. "Soon to be the finest bard this court has ever seen."

She paused for a moment to let that sink in, glancing to the four of them for a moment before giving each a critical look. "And who are you?"
PostPosted: Fri Jan 27, 2006 8:43 am

Looking over the sour little girl once again, Procyon couldn't help but laugh. "I'm Procyon. And since we're discussing our professions, you may as well know that I am the thief of the Court..." She nodded, and looked at the Star Fey again, noticing that the girl was eyeing them with criticism.

She was a bit miffed by the little girl's look, and decided that such a little child shouldn't look down on her elders. "Lovely to meet you Astra. Since are such a fine bard, would you like to perform for us? What kind of bardic talents do you posess? I'd love to see your capabilities." She smirked, hoping she could see the magnificence of this haughty Fey's song and dance.

Another voice joined in the other three. This one sounded almost the same as it had last time she'd heard it, so Pteryx assumed that the shiny girl in the corner was still a child Astra.

"I won't catch a cold. I like it out there in winter, it's dark and quiet." She turned to look up at Dionaea, standing up. Pteryx felt a bit huffy herself now, first they give her a heart attack, and now she supposed to serve everyone else, like she was just the common cook?

Just because she had been in the kitchen first, didn't mean that she was their cook! It was too late to argue though, she'd already put it on the old wood-fueled stove. Pteryx just needed to tell them when it was done and get her own. They couldn't tell her to do things, just because they were older.

That, and she was a little jealous that they'd all filled out like they'd stuffed socks down their tops, and she still looked the same age as Astra. Pteryx could remember them, and they did NOT look like that last time she met them.

"I think it's warm enough for people to get a mug of it now. I'm Magestric Nox's advisor" Pteryx announced to whoever'd wanted some in the first place. It seemed warm to her fingertips that she held close to the edge. Pteryx shifted it off the heat and ladled some into her own mug. "But Astra, you have to have milk from the jug."

At least she was still older than Astra.

At the mention of performing, Astra's face lit up and she nearly became a whole different person. "Sure!" She darted into the room then, climbing up onto one of the stools and perching there. "I don't have any of my instruments with me, but I can sing. Would that be alright?" She hadn't really had a chance to sing for anyone yet, so this would be a welcome distraction from finding her brother.

Any other time, she'd have likely wondered if or how Pteryx knew her... but she'd already stated her name, so it never crossed her mind that the other had already met her. Instead of worrying about it, she lifted her chin proudly and began to sing, a softly lilting lullaby that she remembered her mother singing when she was younger. Her pitch was nearly perfect, and she soon lost herself in the song, forgetting that anyone at all was listening.

Amazed at the change in the little girl, Procyon's eyes widened as she watched Astra climb atop the wobbly stool, ready to perform for the room. She could tell that this Fey loved attention, and realized that she cherished her time in the spotlight.

"Well, I'm sure it'll be lovely, even without your instruments," she said, heading to the kettle to pour herself a glass of wine. Once she'd filled her cup, she sat down on the nearest stool to watch Astra's performance.

The wine warmed her, and she smiled as she watched Astra sing. Her voice was crisp and beautiful, and the song brought a shiver to her spine. Once it was over, Procyon clapped heartily for the little girl. "That was excellent! Did you make that song up yourself? It is truly haunting, but lovely just the same."

Astra beamed at the praise, her smile shining on her face as she turned to Procyon. "I didn't make it up, no," she answered, folding her hands primly in her lap. "My mother sang it to my brother and I to help us sleep. I remember it because it was the one song we heard every day. I know a bunch more, too, but I'm out of practice..." She sighed then, looking down at her hands. "I just came out of my window... and I can't find my brother, either."

"Well, you certainly sound like you've been practicing...But then again, I'm not a good judge of pitch and tone...I'm defintely not a singer, though occasionally I'll sing to myself. You, on the other hand, are defintely a pro. It was a lovely song."

Procyon was coming to like Astra, even though her first impressions of the Fey weren't very pleasant. Though she had been indignant at first, the child seemed to be warming up. Perhaps it was the praise that brightened her spirits...

"You just came out of your window? Well, welcome home again! Isn't it good to be able to stretch your legs? It was one of the things I really missed about being trapped...I get antsy quickly." Procyon noticed the slight despair in Astra, and had to ask about her brother, even though it might hit a nerve. "When was the last time you saw him? Maybe if you know what his totem is, we can look around and see if his window is still around...If not, he could be roaming the halls right now! You never know...Always have hope Astra. All of the Moon Court will eventually be released, and I'm sure your brother will be here too."
