Nailah was sprawled out by the temple entrance, enjoying the cool stones under her furry underbelly. She was glad that it was still and silent. It was extremely early in the morning, the sun wasn't even set to rise until a few hours later. The normally cheerful lioness stared blankly ahead, small frown on her face. She lifted her head every now and then to shake her bangs out of her eyes, then prompted to drop her head back onto her paws.

Normally, Mery would still be asleep. He was exhausted and snooze-y and just not wanting to be up in general. Insomnia, a rare thing for him, had other ideas however. The tan lion made his way to the temple entrance, careful to keep his steps quiet, so as not to disturb anyone. Perhaps some stargazing would put his restless body at ease.
He was very surprised to find her wasn't the only one awake at such an hour. He cleared his throat, to let them know someone else was there. He smiled slightly. "Couldn't sleep, miss?"

Nailah's head shot up, certainly not expecting another to be up. "Ah...yes..." she mumbled, straightening herself up to look presentable, "I-I've been having trouble falling asleep lately..." she kept her eyes on the cool stone beneath her paws.
"Have you been having some trouble as well, sir...?" she asked shyly, eyes still glued to the ground before her, as she shifted from paw to paw.

Mery ducked his head. "I hope the trouble passes for you." He sat down next to her. "I'm afraid sleep eludes me as well tonight. I was hoping stargazing might help me to catch some sleep before it comes time for sunrise." He looked to the younger Dawnwalker. "What of you? What brings you out here when sleep avoids you?"

"Thank you..." she mumbled, tail thumping the floor every now and then, "I guess the same as you..." Nailah stole a glance at him, "The stars and the sound of the desert. I just hope it helps me fall asleep." a little smile tugged at the end of her lips, "It's really peaceful here."
"Why are you unable to sleep, may I ask?"

Mery nodded, smiling slightly. "They really are beautiful things, and calming to the mind." And finding the patterns in the stars was always fun. Especially finding new ways to make patterns, as well as the patterns that were already there. He ducked his head sheepishly. "I'm afraid it's as simple as sleep chooses to elude me, despite my sleepiness."

Nailah laughed lightly, "Yes, they are indeed." she nodded in agreement. "Oh! I totally understand what you're saying..." his problem was rather similar to hers. It was kind of nice to find someone else that was having trouble falling asleep. That way she didn't have to be alone in the dark. Though with the stars in the sky, she didn't feel too lonely to begin with.

Mery chuckled, glad she seemed to be understanding. Though it wasn't truly 'good' that neither of them could sleep, it was nice to have someone to keep company. The stars were good companions, but very silent and cold ones. "Well...it's a shame sleep eludes the both of us, but at least we've company while we wait for it to return, yes?"
