Direct travel to and from from the Fire Country to the Water Country across the open seas. Every day several publicly used transport ships make trips back and froth between the two shores. From a dock several miles outside of the leaf village and docking at a similar station on the shores of the Water Country about an half hour away from the Mist Village. Usually the port between the two countries is a non stop route, however on some occasions the ship may dock in a small island in the the lesser village known as Hidden Whirlpool. This small island is the last remaining inhabited portion of the lesser country after it was attacked out of fear of the countries legendary sealing abilities.

Sitting lazily upon a medium sized barge, Koji sat with a blank, if not annoyed expression upon his face as the vessel tossed back and forth over the churning sea beneath them. Looking out over the ledge of the ship Water country sat as a speck back in the distance, and before them was nothing visible to the naked eye, and even with his limited byakugan there was nothing visible except for the vast sea. With a sigh Koji slipped his hands into his pockets and began to nod off, allowing his mind to settle back onto what had happened back in Mist that caused him to end up traveling on his own, which did allow him to get in some quality alone time, but other than that was extremely boring.

Within minutes of beginning to fall asleep, Koji was rudely awoken by a sudden and rather violent series of crashing noises and jerking motions. With a start Koji fell forward quite violently, nearly bashing his head against a crate, but with some quick maneuvering he managed to roll, repositioning his head and feet so that his feet collided with the side of the crate with a slight crunching sound as the box began to crack under his weight. “The hell is going on on this damn ship.” Koji thought to himself as he began to pick himself up off the floor, only to be jostled forward again by another lurching movement by the ship, putting him back down on the floor of the ship. Knowing that all of this was anything but typical Koji quickly strung together a series of seals, channeling his chakra towards his eyes to initiate his Byakugan, causing his eyes to drop noticeably in hue.
With his eyes now darting around the length of the ship, it was clear that there was some sort of issue that had the ship’s crew up in arms and combating some problem. Bringing his gaze over to the hull of the ship, Koji began to inspect the various structures, and quickly found the root of the problem. Through someone’s fault the ship ran alongside jagged rocks and managed to slash the ship open, causing the vessel to take on copious amounts of water, and while they had passed the rocks, there was little to no hope for the sea life of the ship. Finally being able to get his own bearings Koji stood up and surveyed the deck, finding various people running up and down the length of the ship, gathering up their belongings before they would have to abandon the ship. “********, this captain really does suck a**.” Koji said with a slight tsk, turning to snatch up his satchel of belongings and then took off down the side of the ship pushing past the alarmed crew as he made his way to one of the few life boats that was not already taken up by huddles of scared villagers, some making their way to smaller islands on the route, and the others who were still looking to reach Fire Country. Jumping into the last boat and stashing his bag underneath the middle seat, Koji began to unfasten the ropes that held the boat in place, taking no time to wait for someone else to help save him.

“Hey up out of that boat punk, we saw it first!” came some strange blowing voice which was still aboard the ship and was quickly approaching Koji and his boat. Within seconds the outline of a group of formidable men came into view, and with a slight flash, there appeared to be a shinobi proctor displayed upon one of the mens heads, the marking on it however was one that was foreign to Koji.

“Yea how about no…” Koji said sticking out his tongue towards the group of shinobi, as he pulled the last of the rigging free, causing his boat to fall down at a fast but monitored pace, slapping down against the water’s surface, sending a spray of sea foam and water up into the air, likely to have splashed any of his pursuers in the face if they were to look overboard and try to catch Koji. Reaching over for the oars, Koji began to paddle away from the distressed vessel, as it was now notably lower in the water than it was earlier and was slowly beginning to tilt to the left as water was continuously flowing into the ship and throwing it off balance. “Heh I got out of there just in time.” Koji thought to himself as he just continued to row, finding that some of the other life boats had already got quite some distance on him, while a few straggled behind, and where still dangerously close to the sinking ship and could possibly be dragged under if they did not start moving soon.
After about half an hour of continuous rowing in the ships last direction, Koji found himself well away from the ship which seemed to have begun to float once more, not upright but on its side and was as such out of commission but not life threatening to anyone who might have missed the opportunity to board a life vessel . Unless of course they were somehow trapped during the initial collision with the rocks and then unable to leave their respective rooms and remained trapped as the ship capsized and drowned as a result if they did not get crushed in the process. Giving him a slight break from his constant rowing Koji pulled the oars in and leaned back, propping his head up on the last seat located within the boat, and at the same time propped his feet up in the front, letting them hang slightly over the front of the boat. “Now then, my damn ship has basically sunk, I’m a few hours away from the main land, and I’m going to be way more than late for the mission I was supposed to be on with the other genin, well I don’t actually mind that last part but I’m pretty sure it beats being abandoned out in the middle of the sea.” Koji said to himself, exhaling deeply before bringing himself back upright to examine his surroundings once more and get a gist of how much more traveling was ahead of him.

"GOD DAMN IT" Koji yelled loudly as his time of being cooped up on a small boat by himself was beginning to finally wear on his last nerve. For the past hours he had rowed off and on and remained silent about the whole ordeal. While the trip between Water country and Fire country was not too long by itself, doing so without a motorized boat or some other sort of transportation that was more suited to long term travelling did take quite a bit of time. And to make it worse this was still the open sea which had no doubt pushed Koji farther off his course and would most likely land him on some strange bit of land that was not part of Fire Country, or if he were to really luck out in some remote area of the country where it would not be unlikely fr him to be attacked by bandits, or some form of wild animal as the land of Fire was full of strange homicidal creatures, only a fraction of which have been tamed by the shinibi of the Hidden Leaf.

Looking about himself once again much like he had done numerous times before in the hours since the boat went down Koji fought the urge to strike anything in his immediate area much like how he would if he were on solid land, or back in his apartment back in Mist. And now on the topic of Mist Koji would much prefer to be stuck there on some dead end mission then stuck out in the middle of the sea, and officially out of provisions other than some paper and writing materials. "Ok I will not let this be the death of me, but at the same time I do need to figure out how to get out of this without eating my own arm." Koji thought to himself, throwing himself back down onto the small craft that he found himself constrained to for the current stretch of time. Having not eaten for a considerable amount of time was finally beginning to catch up to him, and in order to keep himself going he would need to eat sooner than later thanks to his Akimichi inheritance. This however would not be a bother to him if he would let himself reach a larger size like almost every other Akimichi does. But for Koji it would be a hindrance to become so fat, only to burn it off in an instant and then slam it back on later by gorging himself half to death.

Now brainstorming ideas on how to get himself onto the mainland Koji had already considered some sort of signaling mechanism which might not be entirely far fetched of an idea, the main snag of such a plan being that if no one were to notice it he might have wasted his last chance to be noticed by a rescue crew, or he might attract the wrong kind of attention and end up being abducted by modern day pirates and he sure as hell was not going to get rescued by Mist with the village still recovering from the twins attack. "Eureka!" Koji said to himself suddenly as he immediately sat up from the craft and stood up on his two feet looking off into the distance with his eyes racing across the sky. It had finally hit him that if he located some birds and took note of their flight direction that he would indeed find land as they would surely have to land somewhere. Scanning the horizon for some signs of life Koji located a small group of sea gulls off to his left who appeared to circle momentarily before heading to the west.

"Bingo, and now onto the hard part." Koji thought to himself as he turned the boat in the direction that he planned on heading and reached for the oars only to retract his current plan. "You know... if I combine two of my techniques I just might be able to get out of this situation much fast than I originally planned on doing." Koji said as he reached over and dipped his hand into the water and swished it around slightly as if he were testing the waters. "I can always make use of that boulder technique I read up on, it would let me move quite fast, and combine it with some basic water walking... But if I ******** up I'll send myself plummeting deep into the sea floor and without a doubt knock myself out and drown." Koji thought to himself. "Oh to hell with it I'm dead if I don't do it either so I'll just go along with it." Koji said now solidifying his resolve and beginning to focus his resolve in a manner in which he was unused to by creating a layer of changing chakra about his entire body so that any part of it may catch onto the waters surface and at the same time he began to form seals which still felt foreign to him. Then with a moments hesitation out of fear for his own life Koji leaped as high as he could while jumping forward with a slight rotation. And while in midair he completed his seals causing his body to greatly expand while tucking his head and appendages in to avoid crushing them, making him appear boulder like. With this portion done Koji began to add force to his rotation and quickly accelerated while still in the air. Within seconds his body made contact with the waters surface, and for a moment he slipped beneath the waters surface, but as he readjusted his body he took off across the water, sending two waves of water up on his left and right sides as he sped across the waters surface with the Fire country quickly coming into view.

After nearly a minute of this technique Koji could feel it begin to fail as his fatigue was now catching up to him and his chakra began to fluctuate, "Damn it just a little further..." Koji muttered to himself as he made it across the last bit of water and slammed into the land and suddenly poofed back to his normal size but was still rolling across the ground until he skidded to a halt on a sandy and rock laden beach being left on his back and panting. "Good I made it..." Koji said to himself as he placed his hand over his heart with a calm expression coming across his face with his eyes slowly shutting themselves while he slipped into an unconscious state.

Kira laid back in his seat on the ship, his eyes gazing out quietly on the wide open sky that stretched out before him. A soft smile pressed against his scarred face as he enjoyed the sea breeze that rolled over the ship and was amplified by the intense speed they were sailing by. The plan was to take the ship straight to Fire Country and completely cut off Shifune's escape route and that wouldn't change unless an order came in from Saikoro. In the meantime, Kira had the fullest intention to enjoy his gratefully gained vacation on the relaxing voyage.

Saikoro sighed softly to himself as he leaned over the steering wheel of the voyage they were using, his eyes glancing this way and that as he searched for any other bodies that were out in the open seas. Partially glancing over his shoulder, Saikoro called out loudly to Hibiki, "Is the scent getting any stronger for you, we're starting to near the islands." The man had no choice to holler his questions as the trio rode out on the rolling waves in a small motor boat and without using a loud voice, he would have easily been drowned out by the motor of the boat as it raced on.

"Not stronger, but definitely fresher. I know we are moving at a much faster pace than he is." Hibiki shouted back. He and Kuro, who they quickly met up with, were hanging off the side of the boat, enjoying the rush of air beating against their faces. The Inuzuka had a grand smile on his face as he tried to enjoy this boat trip. The last ride was a bit...rough, one could say.

The last time we were on a boat was when we were heading towards the Land of Frost. It wasn't that long ago, but it felt like it was a million years ago. At first, Kaji was a thorn in our side before we got onto the boat, but after we got on, he wasn't that bad to deal with. Then we had that traitorous Aburame. His smile abruptly changed into a snarl before snapping back. However, we were dumb and let these petty things tear us apart. Those brothers, the twins, they were prepared and ready to defend each other to the death while we discussed and argued over morals. Worst part of the mission wasn't the failure, but how I had to stand by and watch my team get killed. Their bodies were thrown around like ragdolls while I tried to save the ones I could. He closed his eyes as he inhaled a familiar scent through his nose, Maybe, maybe I'm doing something wrong. A monsoon of memories ravaged his mind now, as he thought back to his training. He perfected the Inuzuka techniques that were mandatory to pass down along with several other dangerous jutsu. I can't do that. My job as a tracker is not to hurt people, its to find them. How can I do that if I'm dead?

Hibiki sighed as he opened his eyes to the water that was passing by them. "Um, Saikoro? Did I miss the....ceremony for the others that went on that last mission?"

Kyu sat upright in the passenger's seat, directly next to the boat's driver who was going nuts at the wheel of their motor boat. Ever since they'd mentioned that they were on an important mission, the formerly somber man seemed to be full of life. The fish-ninja made a sideways glance at his hyperactive blond-haired driver. His unbuttoned tropical shirt was rustling in the wind, and his eyes where hidden behind a pair of admittedly snazzy pointed shades. As the boat carved through the calmly lapping waves as smooth as a knife through butter, the crazed sailor hooted and hollered energetically.

This sort of energy wasn't carried over by Kyu. Kyu sat in his seat, watching the horizon as unmovingly as possible. At this point, every second they were at sea was another second that their foe could reach asylum from Kirigakure. Kyu tapped his foot. Even though they'd been at sea for a while, there wasn't even a hint of their destination in sight. Occasionally, he'd spot a distant stray island, but never the ones that they wanted. Kyu leaned over a bit, his body bobbed when the boat rode over each watery bump.

With a high-enough volume yell to challenge the blaring motor, "Any idea how long until we reach Whirlpool Country, bro?" The hooting driver paused in his wild hollers, and responded, "Yea, man! It shouldn' be too much fartha' ahead!" Kyu nodded, and put his back flat against his seat again. He turned his head to the side, and noted that Kira was taking a break in back. Kyu smirked and called back to him, "Hey Kira, I see you're enjoying the trip back there."

[Heh, epic win for actually being apart of the RP referenced at the bottom.]

Kira kept his eyes on the sky above but a grin cracked over his lips as Kyu addressed him, "Gotta enjoy the little things in life." The scarred man said in reply before stretching his limbs out, a whiny sound emitting from the base of the man's throat as the feel of his joints popping and bringing back a sense of energy into the muscles around him brought him joy. Rolling up to sit on his chair, his legs pulling under him for a cross legged seat, Kira looked at Kyu with his hand raised to his face to shield him from the sun that hadn't bothered him before while he laid down. "I'd suggest you do the same instead of worrying about how soon we'll be there... It'll be a while until we get a chance to actually rest if you don't, but that's your choice. Personally, I'll take any little vacation I get from the constant training, mission, training, mission, hospital, training, mission cycle of our type of life style." Kira said with a chuckle before laying back down and closing his eyes, a nonchalant smile crossing his lips as he fell into silence... "And any man who knows a thing knows he knows not a damn, damn thing at all.." The words could be barely heard in the roar of the motor a few minutes later as Kira sung the song to himself.

Saikoro nodded his head in response to Hibiki, "Hold on tight." The man hollered out over his shoulder as he dramatically turned the steering wheel and threw the boat into a sharp turn before making another in the direction that they had veered off of, a sharp and jagged rock could be seen passing by the side of the boat by just few inches.

At this rate we'll be on Shifune's last camp site in just a hour or so. We should be able to find something of use to get a fresher scent on him and if not that means he's being very meticulous about his movements and shouldn't be far. Saikoro thought to himself as he sped the boat faster on, continuing to veer this way and that to avoid various protruding obstacles and avoid crashing into island sides that were beginning to pop up more and more often. With each turn, the man made a mental note of the appearances of the islands and to mark which seemed to have more wildlife or civilizations on it, as well as the ones that just seemed deserted completely.

"Those who had families had their bodies returned to them so they could preform their own funerals and ceremonies. The ones who didn't have already had their bodies cremated..." Saikoro said in a soft toned voice, the gentleness somehow retaining even as he spoke out over the sound of the motor. After a moment, the man cut off the motor and allowed the boat to simple move on it's own will with the waves. "... However, the ceremony that the country will give for all the deceased from the attack will be held later on this month..." The man said, the somberness of his responses now becoming apparent without the sound of the motor in the way.

Taking a heavy gulp before clearing his throat, Saikoro turned to face his team mates, "Welcome to the starting site..." The man said softly as the boat's progression was moved past a island that was blocking the site of everything beyond it. Another chain of islands could be seen beyond it but unlike the rest that were lush with nature, these were desolate. They were black and brown, all forms of plants dead and there were absolutely no signs of life among their dark forms... It was as though some unnatural force had streaked along them and burnt everything to cinders. "... of the last Great Shinobi War..."

"I see it completely differently." The fish ninja spoke over the roaring winds, "Missions are my vacations, training and honing my skills is my rest. Spending weeks and months wasting valuable time doing crosswords, sudoku, and watching daytime soaps while you heal? That's work. Wasting time in one place, when something can be done in another? I call it a fate worse than death." Kyu's mouth grew into a toothy grin, and he chuckled lightly, "Maybe the last one was a bit too poetic, but you get what I'm saying, right, bro?"

Kyu ran his fingers through his fin of blue-black spiked hair, and explained, "Right now, we're in that region I don't want to stay in. Traveling like this is boring as hell, bro. I can't even stretch my muscles or practice. At least if I were on land, I could jump from tree to tree or on the rooftops or something. It's way more interesting to jump off the beaten path and map it out on your own."

350(2) vs 500 = 70%

Saikoro took in a deep breath as he turned away from Hibiki and Kuro and moved to the edge of the speed boat. With a heavy sigh, he leaned foreword over the edge, his eyes slowly scurrying over the dark blue water and the sides of the islands that rose up through the waters. "I... I think we're going to have to double back and continue on an adjacent path." The man said slowly, his eyes continuing to watch the waves lap against the faces of the islands. Glancing back at the rest of the boat, Saikoro moved towards Hibiki quickly and retrieved a black box from a space near the boy's seat. Rapidly he began to search through it's contents before pulling out a rather large metal tool that was used for loosening and tightening bolts. Without hesitation, the man returned to the front of the boat and tossed the tool high into the sky before him...

Kira shrugged, "To each his own I suppose." He said with a grin as he continued to stretch and relax in his lounged out position. "You prefer that constant action but the way I've been trained is much different and it fits the way I like to do things." The boy remarked before closing his eyes and shifting to his side to take a nap but it wasn't a moment later that a large explosion could be heard from behind the group and plume of black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky several miles in the distance. A moment later the intercoms, that should have been attached to each member's ear, buzzed to life and the voice of Saikoro could be heard roaring over the howl of a boat motor and the loud patter of heavy rain, "Shifune has been leaving explosives behind him on his trail, we happened to set one off but we're all fine. What's important is that he found a path that's hidden amongst deserted islands and has most likely avoided Whirlpool all together and just headed straight to Fire. I need you two, Kira and Kyu, to continue straight there with as limited stops as possible. You are to head out to the Sakura Province in Fire Country, stock up on whatever supplies you need and gather information on our target. You are to hide any signs of our military status and Kira is to hide his scar to avoid any unwelcome suspicions.

We may have clearance but we don't want it, save we might give away our location to Shifune. Your story is you are looking for your Uncle Kiyo, use Shifune's description and find out as much info as possible. Report in as soon as you get word of anything and if you do get wind of him, you have permission to act."
At once the intercom cut off and the sound of Saikoro's actions in the background was freed from their ears. Kira looked up to Kyu with a playful grin, "Guess you're gonna get the action you've been craving."

It had been a few hours since Drake left Konoha, but he was making good time. Already he could smell the sea not far from where he was on the main road. Drake looked up, and saw far in the distance a flock of seagulls, all cluttered together high above the trees. It was now nearly morning, and the sun was just coming up. Drake had left in the vening the other day, and had to stop about half-way down the road when it was so dark that he couldn't even see his own hands in front of his face. After a two-hour nap, Drake had gone back onto the road, and was now approaching the small town that would be able to take him, by boat, to the Water Country. Drake had heard of this town, as it was one of the few shore towns that had boats that would go on regular trips to another town in the Water Country. Drake continued his run as he moved toward the town. Even as he ran, Drake kept an eye out for any movement ahead of him, such as traps or ambushes. And, although he was sure, he would check behind him to make sure no one followed him. After a few more minutes went by as Drake ran down the road, he came down to a walk as he approached the town. He saw from where he was that few people were out of there houses, and those already out were preparing their boats for fishing trips, as fish were the most abundent in the markets of this town, making a good living as a fisherman. Drake saw some fixing nets, others preparing hook and lines for their fishing poles, as well as some fixing the engines on their boats, from filling it with gas, or checking to make sure they would run properly. Drake walked past a small inn, and saw people inside. If anything, Drake was going to have to go in and ask the innkeeper where he could find a boat to Water. Drake walked up to the door and opened it, feeling a breeze of cold, sea air go in with him. As he walked in, Drake saw the innkeeper near a desk behind the bar counter, as the inn seemed to be also the local bar. Drake walked up to the counter, and knocked on the cold wood once to get the innkeepers attention. The innkeeper turned and saw Drake, then walked over and leaned forward. Drake noticed that the man was at least in his mid-40s, with a thin bit of dark brown, or black hair, a pair of glasses, and a pipe for smoking sticking out of his lips. He wore what looked like old fishermen clothes, but had a brown vest over the shirt. The innkeeper looked at Drake for a moment, then said to him, "Well, we don't usualy have customers THIS early. What can I do for you?". "I need to know if there is a boat heading out for Water anytime soon" Drake asked the innkeeper. The innkeeper scratched his chin, the looked back at Drake. "Well, old Thomas should still be in port, and he does the morning trips. Head down to the docks, and look for the 'Merrymen'. It's not hard to miss, it's a large, blue boat. Just look for a guy with silver grey hair." Drake thanked the innkeeper, then went back toward the door, and walked out.

Drake walked down to the docks, and started to look for the large blue boat 'Merrymen'. The smell of rotting fish was overwhelming Drakes nose, that he had to put his hand over his face to block out the oder. Drake finally found the boat, and it wasn't too big. It was about the size of a regualer fishermens boat, but with three large motors instead of the two that Drake had seen on other vessels. Also, he noticed that there was no fishing gear aboard, seemingly replaced by several benches at the front of the boat. As Drake approched the 'Merrymen', he saw an elderly man moving a large gas tank toward it. The man looked younger than what Drake thought he would be, looking like he was still in his mid-50s. The man had long grey hair, wore a loose white shirt, and blue work jeans. He had sandals on, but other than that, the man was in perfect shape. Drake appraoched the man, and said "Are you old Thomas?". The man dropped the tank to the wooden plank that lead up to the boat, and looked over at Drake, looking up and down as he summed Drake up. Then, the man said to him "I am. And who are you?". "My name is Drake. I was told that you could take me to Water." The man frowned at Drake, then said "I can, though it will be awhile. If you want a ride this early though, you'll need to help me get this tank up to the boat. Just set it next to the stairs in the back. I'll go get the other one" then the man walked back down the dock over to a shack, opeing the door and stepping into it. Drake let out a sigh, then dropped his pack onto the dock, and walked over to the gas tank. As he tried to lift it, Drake felt that the whole thing was full, so it felt like it weighed a ton. Drake didn't mind the strain though, so he hefted it up a few inches till he was sure he could carry it up the ramp without a problem, walking slowly just in case he felt that he was going to drop it. Once he walked up the plank and was on the deck of the boat, Drake looked around for the stairs in the back, and, once he saw them, walked toward hem with the tank in his arms. Drake set the tank down next to the stairs, and then he felt the boat shift a bit toward the ramp, so he looked over. He saw the man holding another large tank that also seemed to be full of gas, plus Drakes pack was on top of that. The man walked over to Drake, the set his tank down next to Drakes, then picked up the pack and handed it to him. "Here you go. Now, I already have a tank hooked up to the engines, so we'll just wait a few more minutes while I get things ready up in the cabin." and then the man walked toward a set of stairs that went up toward a room Drake assumed would have the main controls. Drake put his pack on his shoulder, then moved toward the front of the boat, go over and sitting down on one of the benches. As he did, Drake heard the Thomas call to him, and he looked up to see his head sticking out an open window. "Well, we'll be leaving in a few minutes, I'm just gonna wait to see if anyone else will be joining us." and then he poped his head back into the cabin.
