Khepri grumbled quietly to herself as she walked with her younger sister on their daily "leisurely walk" (more like she forced her sister to come with her in case she got in trouble and happened to mess up her looks). Today was rather boring, and much as she wanted to just go home and take a bath to get rid of whatever dust had gathered on her being. "Ming, find us somewhere to bathe," she ordered and partially whined. She was fed up. They'd been walking for a long time now, and unlike their mother, they couldn't fly. It was the only thing Khepri resented her mother and brothers and one other sister for: their wings. On the other hoof, she looked more like her father and she figured since her father was more flashy she was obviously the best looking one of the group of six children.
She sighed as she listened to Khepri moan and groan and whine and complain as usual after their fifteen minute walk. Khepri didn't mind walk or even running so long as she kept in shape, but to have to put up with her complaining about how it ruined her 'looks' was beginning to wear on Ming's nerves. "Yes, Khepri," she replied in a slightly exasperated tone, though she tried to keep it from sounding so. As she began to look around, she soon spotted an upcoming clearing (was it her, or were these things far too convenient at times...?) and led her grumbling sister towards the crisp, clear water. "Here you are, Khepri," she stated in a rather bored tone.
Ignoring her sister's tone, Khepri continued to grumble until she heard the sound of water. She perked up when she saw the pond--perfect! She could get that bath and relax for a while. Using her horn, she purified the water before she stepped in, sighing in happiness. Okay, she admitted it--she was unhappy at the fact she hadn't found love yet, and the one stallion she thought she'd get to keep had vanished from her grasp, and she was rather bitter. So, she was sorta/kinda taking it out on her sister--but Ming Xifeng didn't seem to mind it, and so she kept doing it... Internally, Khepri dreaded the day Ming would leave her on her own. She didn't like being by herself, but Khepri had a rather bad feeling... "Ming, you're really quiet today. I mean, more than normal," she called over to her sister who'd been watching her from afar.
Ming relaxed under the shade of a nearby tree as she watched her sister bathe and relax in the purified pond water. She was bored out of her mind; hell, she'd prefer to nap in a warm spot or relax under a tree like this as opposed to be dragged around by her sister. "Well, there's not much to say to begin with," she replied with a healthy dose of wry sarcasm. Khepri was by no means stupid, but again, her obsession with beauty and looks and perfection was wearing on her nerves. She'd do anything to be away from her sister right now, but there wasn't much she could do about it. It seemed Khepri would try and keep her around as a 'servant' of sorts until she found a reason to leave. She sighed to herself as she continued to watch the day move slowly by.

Metria watched the mares from her perch up in a tree. They were interesting. It had been so long since she had played with mortals. She slipped down to the base of the tree and grabbed up dirt in her antlers before clambering up again. She still wasn't sure why or how she had lost the ability to teleport, but she wasn't going to let it bother her. Not when there was fun to have. She reached up and grabbed out some soil. using all four paws together, she packed a wad and tossed it into the water in front of the bathing mare. Let the games begin.

Khepri shrieked as a ball of dirt and soil smacked her, and she nearly screamed bloody murder as she furiously tried to made the ugly spot go away. She knew it couldn't be her sister who did such thing--after all, it was physically impossible and Ming wasn't that kind of mare! Furious, she began to look around trying to find the villain who would do such a thing to a bathing maiden. "Ming!" she shrieked again, getting extremely upset because the mud wasn't coming off fast enough. "Help me! This... this dirt... this mud... oh, oh!!" She was nearly in tears. Today was not her day. At all. She just couldn't believe it. No way. "Ming!" she wailed again.
She jerked awake as Khepri's voice pierced the quiet air, and stumbled to her hooves as she partially sleep-walked towards her sister. She had dozed off slightly, feeling bored watching her sister attempt to clean her coat for the thirtieth time during the day, and having nothing else to do, she'd fallen into a light nap. However, she had to suppress a snicker as she observed the brown muddy spot on her sister's back. "And what do you want me to do about that, Khepri...?" she finally asked with a straight face, but an eyebrow raised. This was rather entertaining, but she had to keep a straight face--Khepri would stab her to pieces if she laughed. Still, it was about time something more interesting happened to her sister--it was good she got truly 'dirty' in a way. Ming managed to fight back another surge of laughter at the humor of the entire situation.

Oh this was fun. Laughing audibly, Metria chucked another clod into the water, watching the dirt spread. Mortals were so vain. She wondered if it was because they couldn't simply change their appearance at will. Mortals were foolish that way. She couldn't understand letting herself be so limited.

Khepri freaked as mud started (it seemed) flying from everywhere to discolor and make her look ugly and as such drove her out of the water. She stood, shaking with anger as she tried to figure out--again--who was lobbing dirt balls. Ming, on the other hoof, was simply staring at the water, as if she didn't care--which she probably didn't--but Khepri wasn't going to stand around by herself looking ugly and pathetic! "Ming, instead of staring at the water--" Her sister cut her off mid-sentence as the brighter yellow mare turned and began walking towards the trees. Outraged, Khepri was going to call out to her when she saw Ming looking up into the trees, making her pause. Something in the trees? Maybe it's that something that's throwing dirt balls! She frowned as her once golden coat was now a mere dull gold color. Sighing, she decided the water was too dirty and would only make her dirtier. She would have to find a stream or river to wash off the debris later.
Ming had seen where the second dirt ball had been thrown from the corner of her eye. Ignoring her sister's rising ire and demands, she walked calmly to where she figured the throwing was coming from. Spotting something unusual, she pondered how to make the strange thing come down from the tree. She muttered to herself about expending additional effort before rearing and slamming her hooves into the tree. Whatever it was, it couldn't stay up there forever, especially if it lots its balance. She pushed back onto all fours and then reared up again, slamming her hooves into the tree. She wasn't striking hard enough to make hoof imprints, although she was shaking the tree rather badly. "Whoever you are, come out from the branches!" she demanded in a firm voice, though she did not shout. She didn't want to waste more energy yelling for no reason, and if whoever didn't hear her, well, they'd better hold on, or they'd come tumbling down for a nasty fall on the head. Unless, of course, it was a bird, and birds would normally fly off... so what in the world was up in this tree...?

Metria spread her wings and glided down to land on Ming's back, looking pleased. "I really don't understand you mortals," she said in a bored tone, rolling her eyes. "Weren't you getting fed up with her vanity? Now she's unhappy. Oh, well, I guess I did improve her looks, so maybe you have a right to be kleptomanic." (mad -> insane)
She watched the pair with her flame eyes, patting the remaining dirt out of her antlers and onto the mortal whose back she was resting on. Mortals really made no sense, but then, that was what made them fun! One never knew what they'd do next!

Ming, now back on all four legs, turned her neck just enough to view the odd thing on her back. "What... are you?" she wondered, not caring about the dirt on her body (after all, it could have been worse--she'd have to deal with Khepri fussing over her... oh, wait.) "Mortals?" she asked, clearly confused. All she could see was this... weird... rabbit-thing with wings and antlers. Maybe it was a familiar to a Kalona or Angeni? Somehow, she doubted a Kalona would put up with the weird behavior this creature was spouting, but an Angeni... now that made more sense, possibly. "In a bit, yes, I'm somewhat tired of her vanity, but it's an every minute, every hour, every day sort of thing, so I'm used to it..." She trailed off, wondering what exactly made this creature wish to involve itself in the affairs of herself and her silly sister.
"Ming, what is that disgusting thing on your back!?" Khepri called, approaching her duo slowly but keeping a safe distance. Having not heard the conversation, she figured that the weird bunny-thing was the one lobbing dirt balls at her and therefore it was a disgusting monster. It might as well be a monster--look at it! What rabbit-thing had antlers and wings? None! This creature must be some demon thing from the depths of evil where those skinwalkers came from--it had to be! She used to think Kalonas were evil things but she had felt attracted to a few so she stomped out that idea quickly. However... still! She forced herself not to gape at the creature apparently relaxing on her sister's back. Ming, again, didn't seem to care at all--and oh, dear, look at what it was doing to her sister's beautiful coat! If only she could figure out how to make it go away!

Metria grinned, unaware of her verbal slip, since no one caught it for her. This place was ever so much fun. Impishly she lifted off of Ming's back to land on the back of the sister. "Ah, a much more comfortable perch. So broad, just like a male. I could rest here all day... And a nice earthy smell too. What is it, loam?" she asked chipperly.

She shrieked once more as she began to buck, trying to get the horrifying creature off her back. Why was her sister so calm!? It wasn't fair how Ming took so well after their father--she was father's favorite! Khepri eventually stopped and scowled at the weird thing, not caring one bit if it fell and hit its head and died. At least then she could give it a good kick and... "Ming," she started in a highly annoyed voice, "would you care to rid me of this thing? I want to go home. If you want to stay here and deal with this monster, far be it from me to stop you, but just get it away from me!" She ended her little speech in a high pitch frenzy of a breaking point, close to panic. If this thing didn't get away from her now, there would be ears to pay!
Not one to deal with Khepri's shrieking and whining and groaning, Ming immediately (and politely as possible) asked the rabbit-thing to get away from Khepri. "Excuse me, if you don't mind, but please do let her go home..." She muttered to herself, "...'twill save you and I a headache later, for sure!" She waited patiently, getting more worried as Khepri's ire continued to rise. If Khepri panicked, it would take a long time for her to stop screaming at a high pitched squeal that always caused earaches... and headaches. Ming had been privy to one of those as a filly, and intended to never again experience it. She determined that the only way to make Khepri happy, however, was for the golden mare to find true love... She figured Khepri would change, then.
Their mother, Shimshek, had changed a lot after finding love, and if anything, Khepri was exactly like their mother. Ming Xifeng, on the other hand, had no care for love for the time being. She, currently, only wished to be away from her sister. "I am sorry, but we never did introduce ourselves... My name is Ming Xifeng," she explained, eyeing her sister carefully. "That one is my sister Khepri, whom you're currently frightening for means unknown. My sister is strange that way--" Khepri always ignored whatever she said, so she tended to go off at the mouth a lot in her sister's presence. "May I ask your name?" she finished, hoping to not only get Khepri heading back home but to, for once, find something of interest to do other than listening to Khepri's constant complaints about "beauty" and "looks."

"I am shrieked Metria, and I am here because this mortal and her foolish vanity amuses me," Metria all but purred.

"I don't care who you are, just get off of me, you putrid thing!" Khepri all but shouted into Metria's ear. She wanted to go home, away from this monster, and to find another place to bathe herself. After what this queer thing did to her, she couldn't care less if Ming got kidnapped! ...Well, she might. A little. Okay, a lot. She'd be royally pissed off if anything happened to her sister, but for the time being... Khepri stubbornly bucked and then took off and away. She couldn't stand to stay any longer. "Ming, I'll tell Mother you're... off somewhere. See you!" Khepri called as she galloped away.
Once again ignoring her sister, Ming calmly watched as Khepri took off back in the direction they'd come from--probably to return home and tell their mother about her "horrible" day. Muttering quietly to herself, she nodded politely to Metria. "Pleased to meet you," she spoke agreeably. "Is there something I can do for you, since you've done me the favor of scaring off my sister?"

"Favor?" Metria grinned. "favor indeed!" then she seemed mildly annoyed. "She's interesting, actually, I think I will bother her some more!"
With that Metria launched herself up. Favor indeed. She had been trying to cause mischief, blast it. What was with these mortals? It was boring to be thanked. It was more fun to be cursed so roundly that the greenery wilted to expose a hidden child and show to the world that the child had now been corrupted by a so-called moral individual. That was where the fun was! Metria.... had no clue what to do with thanks, the few times she received them, so she moved on.

"A petty one, are you?" Ming mused aloud, watching Metria. "And yes, favor indeed. I'm quite delighted to not do anything for you, actually, so again, thanks for that." Ming let slip some sarcasm (more because the little thing amused her at the same time Metria annoyed her) and prepared to move on. It seemed Metria lost interest as soon as Khepri wasn't screeching at the top of her lungs anymore (Ming was quite glad to not have her ears ringing for the rest of the day and night). "Try all you might to bother her; anyhow, she's long fled, you bothersome thing," Ming chuckled.
"You almost remind me of a friend of mine I know... almost. Not as irritating, I would think, as she is a friend..." Ming trailed off, wondering why she was talking so much. She barely talked--she thought rather than talked!! There was something about this Metria winged-rabbit creature that was slowly making Ming uneasy. Perhaps she should follow her sister's example and "flee" as well... not back home, but probably somewhere she would find peace and quiet. "Well, it was nice meeting you, Metria, but I shall be off since you find me uninteresting, as it were." With a polite nod, Ming scented the air as she mentally decided where to go.

She dropped back onto Ming's back. "I know what you're trying to do," she accused. "You're trying to get rid of me. Well, it won't work," she declared.

Ming paused as she angled her head to figure out what Metria was going on about. "Get rid of you?" she asked, with a raised eyebrow. Well, she had been trying to leave before she got dragged into something she didn't feel like getting dragged into. "I suppose "getting rid of" is too strong, I'd say more like... leave behind?" she finished lightly. Ming wondered how she'd be able to "leave behind" the little critter... but apparently, that wasn't happening.
"All right, then, what do you want?" she sighed out slowly. She wasn't up to doing anything, but she did technically owe the little winged-rabbit a favor, after all. She decided she didn't like being in debt; at least, not to critters like the one currently yapping away in strange talk on her back. Or strange thinking, or whatever one would call the way the rabbit on her back was thinking or saying... or something.
